This game was so fucking awesome. I could never find it to buy when my birthday came around. My dad must have rented it for me 3 times. Usually my parents wouldnt rent a game for me multiple times because it was a lot of money, but I remember when I got my wisdom teeth taken out my dad felt sorry for me so he rented it for again.

Konami made a masterpiece out of the contra series by making it on genesis. Mode 7 like effects and scaling of sprites and tilting. They showed that when genesis games had enough memory with a littly creativity sega genesis can do everything super nes could do graphic wise.

Why is Contra 3 often considered "the definitive Contra game"? There were only six stages and two of them were incredibly sucky overhead levels. I'd take Contra, Super C, Contra 4, Hard Corps, or Shattered Soldier any day of the week.

my bad then.. you see because the genesis emulator runs faster than the actual genesis .........the emulator runs at 60.5 fps so the games are not the same on the emulator they lose the classic feel

Damn this is INSANE. I never got into Contra beyond the first one though, R-Type was my shooter of choice back then but damn this looks every bit as punishing as it is said to be. I think I'm going to download the spiritual successor, "Hard Corps" when it release for XBLA.

I never found this game super hard. Then again I never found MegaMan ultra difficult either. They are both challenging though.

thats because these type of games are meant to be played on the keyboard...if you have a controller in your hands then it will be much..much easier.

Frankly, the control sucks, moving and shooting is as fine as ever, but you have this wierd iffy system to switch between switching between weapons and standing still, and it just simply does not work. I WOULD recommend Contra 3, because it does not have this problem.

2:40 - 3:04 - the ship in the background sends out little trails of light which are flying troops that fly into the foreground and attack you. The ship then crashes into a building and falls. Its these little details that make Konami and the Contra games so fucking wicked. Rock hard game but amazing too.

I have never played the Sega version only the SNES one but this seems as awesome if not even slightly more so than the SNES version. The music for the SNES version rocked and although

different music here it certainly rocks hard as well.

I started to play this game some months ago. It's awesome.

Konami always create very wierd monsters in Contra Series, for example the monster at the min. 1:30 made me laugh when he started to dance XD, and another at the min. 4:25, seems like he's doing workout. XD
