  • WTF is an ALT?

  • @RedneckYachtClubber That is a an often-asked question. It's an "assistant language teacher" in the Japan Exchange Teaching program (which I belonged to from '99-'02 in Osaka City). The lyrics are a kind of "a day in the life of an ALT," and you kinda have to be there to get it. I hope that helps.

I like your screen name by the way.

  • @veloboy Oh ok then, cool, thanks ^_^

  • i freakin' love this rap~!!!

:D i wish i could still dl it from the podcast- but i haven't seen it up :/

  • Thanks sevychan!

It's still available in .mp3 as well as .m4a or .mov format over at News From The Other Side.

Also, there is a MySpace channel that features different versions of this song.

I'll send the links to ya in a message in just a bit.

  • wow! hey, thanks :D!!

  • You're welcome!

  • Absolutely awesome.

  • very nice.

definitely not enough gaijin semi-bilingual english-teaching rappers in japan these days. although i hear it might become a new grammy category.

next, we might have to open up the enka-gospel fusion market. who's with me?!?

  • dozo yoroshiku onegaishiMASS?

sounds like your ass needs to take a japanese class

  • please don't make me have to kick your ASU.

  • ASU just doesn't have the same ring does it?

  • @hillsonn I'm sure he needed to say it that way to rhyme MASS with ASS.

  • @wondercast You are very correct, as cheap and unfunny as it seems to me now, that's what I was after when I wrote those lyrics more than ten years ago!

  • Best Osaka post ever....it never gets old.

  • didn't get bored. got married and it was time for some different scenery. i'll be back!

  • haha good to hear it :)

  • This is amazing :D

    your in new zeland now?

did you get board of Japan? haha

Well i hope your doing well :D

did i mention this song was amazing?

  • lol! that was awesome.

.... you should do a japanese version. oooh!

  • i'm in new zealand now, and have been thinking about doing a song about the experience so far... it's only just begun!

  • SOOOOO FUN!!!!

  • glad to know people are still getting a kick out of it!

  • abc's with your ALT. XD haha

  • HAHA HILARIOUS! 5 stars

  • gracias!

  • meccha omoroi nen de! :)

  • merci beaucoup!

  • Go, Go, Hanshin Tigers!

  • まいど!

  • Hey Rob sup???

    I liked the song.....muito legal!!!!

Estou te devendo uma visita....esse ano ainda vou ate Tokyo

    Abraços

  • yeah, please come visit. i'm kind of stuck here at the moment...

    um abraço!

  • it wasn't my first job out of college by any means (i'm an OSSAN), but i was speaking on behalf of quite a few JETs who were fresh out of college.

  • Well is nice you got hired quickly after getting a College degree!. That's cool man, but I know some people in Japan, who know English pretty well, are awesome ALTs, have a college education, but no degree and still they got hired!. And no man! they are not illegal in Japan! They are 100% legal why?? because they are part Japanese that's why. And about the OnegaishimASS, ummm.... is your JET called Shim or something?. Anyway nice try dude.

  • i've done a lot worse!

  • he was ok

  • yeah uh we're not ready.

  • What's an ALT? And a JTE? ): It sounded like you were saying "Dozo yoroshiko onegaishimass."

  • ALT = Assistant Language Teacher and JTE = Japanese Teacher of English (both JET Program terminology), and douzo yoroshiku onegaishimASS! (which is incorrect pronunciation, of course).

  • yaa...the world is not yet ready
