  • thats bad ass but i dont think that guy in the lotus can drive very well either that or the s2k got a lot of work done to it, but my hat is off to the driver of the s2k he's a beast

  • Wow, that's how everyone should drive a s2k.

If this was in Japan~blow offs will be jizzling.

  • Honda engine is way better but lottus body is lighter

  • a lotus body and chassis and a honda engine and tranny makes a great combination

  • now who had a better engine honda or lotus (toyota) =))))

  • I know this track. How do I know? Gran turismo!!!!!! lol

  • what short shifter you got there?

  • Lotus driver blocking the S2000! LOL!

  • @oregonistoowet S2000 driver being a pussy more like :p

  • Some safe driving, you could've leaned on the brakes more to overtake but I guess if they fade you might have to get buffing the Lotus's back bumper! Lotus is excellent but the Honda is cheaper, more reliable, has probably the best 6 speed the world has ever seen & a superb engine. May not handle as well as the Exige but your mother can drift one. Try drifting a mid/rear engine, it's hard work & no fun.

  • Stock S2000 pass a stock Exige on the track equally well driven? That'd take some doing.

  • u can't fuck with that it's made to love corners, salvage the car and send the lotus guy the engine and tranny he'd know how to use it noob

  • Great driving once again but you need to work on your heel/toe.

  • I'm still puzzled why the S2K driver didn't overtake the lotus exige when he had the chance. And there were many chances.

  • Lotus's are so light, like an exige. And have cool superchargers, and considered one of the greatest suspension technologies. yet for some reason, they always seem to fall a little short on the lap times when compared to their competition. I dunno, I suppose I just suspected they were better track cars then some of their test numbers would suggest (as far as power to weight ratios are concerned).

  • Get him.........GET HIM!!!!!!!!

  • 2 hands on the wheel please? car sounds great mate, way to hunt down that Lotus

  • I just reviewed this car.

  • Apexes too early, and resting one hand on the shift knob at thet speed on a racetrack? Crazy, and not too professional IMO.

  • @m1bjr so many critics...shut up

  • @cj7283 Are you really 30 years old?

I see all you do is troll Youtube and make pountless comments like this.

A couple of nob comments and not even one upload)

Are you even old enough to drive?

    LOL @ you

  • why he kept holding back

  • To much money for an exige , Might as well stick with an s2000 and put at least $10,000 worth of mods and wipe that exige's ass !

  • I think you mean 'kick' that exige's ass.... Wiping sounds like a bitch's job...

  • why you not overtake when you keep catching on the straight with plenty road to spare???????????????

  • The point of heel and toe is to match your engine speed to your transmission for a smooth downshift. It seems as though he is using the heel toe method for nothing by letting his RPM drop too much after blipping the throttle and riding his clutch after each downshift. Good driving though. my 2 cents.

  • The lotus would own the S2000 on any tight track... That's what lotus is made for... .Handling, not much top end but they've got great acceleration to compliment their handling.

  • sorry but with closely matched cars, mid engine will always win out. The Exige has so much more balance. As for safety, losing it at 135 isn't gonna be pretty in either car.

  • the s2k has perfect 50:50 weight distribution so i dunno about that but for more than double the price i would hope the exige does handle better and as for losing it i lost it at slightly over 65 in an 01 s2k and it was prob the least forgiving car i've driven i hear the same about the lotus

  • polar moment of inertia. it is not necessarily the distribution front to rear as much as where the weight is located. with mid engine the weight is close to the centerline and it is much easier to change direction. i own an s2000, which is basically front mid-engine and love it but i would definitely prefer an exige 240s. just my two cents.....

  • @moselyliver s2000 is mid engine... and s2000 is 50/50 weight distribution...

  • @BaySlapzFoLife huh, s2000 isn't mid engined,

  • @29ryan49 yes it is. its located completely behind the front axle. thus making it mid engine

  • @29ryan49 yes it is loll mid engined is the key to S2000s success. 50/50 weight ratio

  • @29ryan49 although it sounds really weird, yes the s2000 is a mid engine car.

The engine is located behind the front axle.

  • this is the best s2k video on youtube.. the engine sounds so freaking good!!

  • s2k stronger on the straights, but lotus can pull some serious distance on the turns.

  • Apparently you can tell malc is a moron with no experience on track reading numbers off magazine day by day dreaming that he'll afford at least a tercel in future.

  • The Exige weights 890 kg.

  • So, what's the video all about? We all know an exige will destroy any honda, so why show a video of a cruising lotus and an s2000 that won't overtake?

  • From what i see in the video the S2000 reeled in the exige and kept with it the whole time .

  • Looking at this video, you not really compare the cars, you merely compare two drivers...

Only the same driver can compare two cars.

Comparing the S2K and the Exige by looking at this video is meaningless.

  • Well it is not just the two drivers in the lotus's , if you watch the video closely you can see that the two lotus's are keeping up with the other exiges up ahead , that speaks volumes about the S2000 . It's like saying all the exiges drivers are poor drivers and only the honda driver is any good.

I do respect the exige it is a light car with the toyota 190 hp engine with a very usable power band , but the S2000 has proven to be very competitive.

  • I can't see your point.

I don't know the S2000, I don't intend to criticize it. I don't know whether it is more efficient than an Exige or not, and frankly, I don't care.

My only point, speaking as an experienced racecar driver, is that you just can't establish comparisons between cars by looking at their speed when driven by different drivers. That's a fact.

  • Too bad that you ca'nt see my point . have a good day , and glad to see you are also into great cars.

  • Sure it can but which car will last the longest ?? the only thing that will last the longest on the lotus is the engine and everything else will just fall apart. On top of the the S2000 has a usable trunk space unlike the lotus. Lotus don't have that drive it once had when Chapman was still round.

  • What's going to fall apart? It can't rust, it has one of the strongest body/chassis combos around, the interior is a bar of metal, and it has zero electronics to fail.

I you want 'trunk' space then you wouldn't buy either. In driver appeal and outright speed the lotus is in a different league. The s2000 couldn't even match it's hairdresser car rivals, never mind a lotus track car.

  • Strongest body / chassis ??? your kidding right??? the whole body is a aluminum tub that is glue together with industrial strength glue and on top of that is surrounded by by a fiberglass shell. tell me how is that the STRONGEST BODY/CHASSIS AROUND?. If I was a betting man I will bet my life with the S2000 over the Elise in a crash.

  • well the s2000 has an airbag, abs, and no doubt a load of traction nonsense - if I was gonna crash I'd want to be in it too.

Strongest in terms of durability, in that there is precisely fuck all the rust. Sure, alloy can corrode a bit; my 20 y/o land rover has a bit of that, but meh.

The s2000 didn't get one good review in the UK when new. It's amazing; now that the scum can afford them they're the most amazing machines on the planet......

  • I see why you are so up tie with the lotus because your British.

comparing a car that's 20yrs old to today it very smart. For one thing your Land Rover was build like a Tank and most likely use steel for its body meaning that rust will still develop and wouldn't rust away as fast as aluminum.

All i know that the guys from top gear and 5th gear like the s2000 then the cars that they compare it to.

The only, I mean the only lotus car that I would get is the Super Se7en. it would own the Elise

  • I drove both and bought an Elise (S2). Mid engine and RWD will always better the s2000. And it looks a whole lot nicer too.

As for safety, the tub that the Elise driver sits in IS very strong and WILL protect the driver moreso than the S2000.

  • They didnt get good reviews because you could go and buy a standard boxster and it would be quicker around a track, faster 0-60, better looking, better equipped, built to a higher standard and much more comfortable..

and thats just the standard car, not an S

  • Porsche Boxter is better equiped and more comfortable than S2000, every thing else you say is wrong. On both Best motoring and Top Gear the S2000 has beat the Porsche around a track.

  • Actually, Top Gear proved the standard boxster beat the S2000 around their track.. and they said the built quality was the best in the world and the handling was almost perfect

perhaps you should check the times again...

  • S2K RULES!!! but Exige is even cooler!!! The Exige s is my inspiration for when i get an S2k

  • The driver is quite smart, that's all I can say.

  • he drives really good. but why do you say that ?

  • very very good!!!!

  • WTF are you talking about!?!?!? You just HAD to ruin this video didnt you!!! HONDA RULES!!!

  • Its the second time i see that guy with the honda making nervous to great cars like m3 and now lotus, that s2000 it's so good

  • Lotus using japan engine toyota celica gt

  • acura come from honda same company

  • I know...I'm just saying the S2K is not Honda's top platform. The rear is very twitchy compared to its big brother the nsx

  • The rear is as twitchy as the driver operating it. The NSX is also a faster car with a MR engine. Different designs lend themselves to different handling characteristics.

  • and BY THE WAY< the Honda S2000 is HONDA's top race car. The NSX is Acura's. I understand Honda owns Acura..but they are two seperate entities.

  • its only in Canada and the USA that we have the Acura branding. Soon, Acura will start appearing in Japan. Thanks for the input though. Cheers brother

  • you can also hear that the dude in the 2000 isnt trying to pass the exige he backs off everytime..

  • I totally agree... He wanted to show everyone how the S2000 could easily keep up; if he wanted to, he couldve passed this lotus.

  • I agree. The S2000 catches up several turns and ALLOWS the exige to remain in front... interesting

  • s2000 come with vtec stock

  • That sounds badass, nice driving btw.

  • what mods did the 2000 have? sounds good

  • Not bad considering that the Lotus Exige costs almost twice as much as the Honda S2000.

  • i highly doubt that s2k is stock though. just listen to it

  • That is what they sound like. The S2000 motor comes very hot from the factory.

This one probably has intake and exhaust mods only.

You obviously never let one rip.

  • Great fun ,Too bad we could`nt see the speedo.

  • Good race! You guys are pretty evenly matched

  • Impressive driving, check out my skills against a WRX

  • Hands down Exige will out handle and out accelerate an s2000. But I do love the way s2000 sounds. Hoping to pick up one some time in the future.

  • Well it outhandles the S2000 because of its lightweight and 220hp...supercharging the S2000 gives it about 370hp...I don't think the Exige can do much there...as for the suspension...mugen or spoon can do the trick...remember that the Exige/Elise are meant to go straight to the track...the S2000 has track-like tendencies but its still a city car...

  • Exige isn't 220bhp, it's a 177 or 192bhp Rover-engined one.

With equal drivers, the Exige will leave the S2000 for dead on pretty much any track, however, this S2000 sounds more than a little modified so who knows how the cars stack up.

I know plenty of much-modified S2000s that will run circles around a standard Exige, but then you're not really comparing apples with apples.

  • Perhaps you're in a different country...If you are in the US, check out these cars at your local dealership...just checked out an Elise a few days ago at a dealership and it is the one with 190hp...the exige has 220ho via supercharged 1.8 VVTLi...the new Exige 240R has 20 more horses due to a minor computer reflash made by Lotus.

My point though is that the Elise/Exige is more of a purpose built track car with street adaptations. The S is a Sunday driver with track-like tendencies...

  • You're missing the point... the Exige shown in the video is a 200/2001 model "S1", which doesn't have a Toyota engine, instead has a 177/192bhp (depending on the state of tune) ROVER K-VHPD engine. I should know, I've got one parked in my garage :D. I've been on track with many S2000s and stock for stock, the S2000 isn't in the same league as the Exige in terms of performance, and either can be much modified.

  • Oh, then never mind...I thought this was one of the newer ones...either way, this S doesn't sound very modded...it accelerates about as fast as mine based on the sound of the engine...and I'm bone stock...don't get mre wrong though, I know the Exige can win its just that they are two cars built with different purposes so the winner would pretty much be a no brainer...

  • LotusElisENZ --- you sound like someone whose honestly never driven an S2000 on the track. Furthermore, why is it that your username says Elise when this clip is of an Exige? So which one do you have "parked in your garage?"

Also, you've failed to take into account driver ability and modification to BOTH vehicles. This is merely one video of one driver. As such, I could, with as much evidence in numbers as you've provided, say an S2000 CR will over-take an Exige.

  • I've driven several S2000s on road and track before, many of my friends have owned them. They're very good sports cars, but not in the same league as an Exige on track.

My username is Elise as I had one when I signed up here. I now have an Exige S1 like the one in this video. My Exige is stock, the only S2000s that can keep pace with my car on track are very heavily modified versions.

    Happy to help :)

  • I think you're just deluding yourself sensaisia.

    S2000 CR P/W ratio: .0842

    Lotus Exige S P/W ratio: .1049

Not to mention the handling of the Lotus is far superior.

No one is trying to say that S2000's are bad cars. The guy is just saying that they're in different leagues, which is true.

My Elise wouldn't have any problem with an S2000 on the track either.

  • Haha troll. Look I've driven PLENTY of both S2000s and various Lotuses and there's NO WAY an S2000 will live with any Exige stock for stock.

The moment you start modifying one or the other the rules go out the window as it all becomes about how much money you pour into them.

Honda makes great cars, the S2000 is one of them, but it's not in the same league as an Exige on track.

  • How many is plenty? Do you drive a different S2000 weekly? There's always an authority on the internet. I did have one random thought, when I saw your comments. Does driver skill have anything to do with race or is it just the cars capabilities and mods?

  • You look pretty dumb dude. Do us a favor and shoot yourself in the head. :D

    noooob !

  • what track have you been on

  • 1. Yes, I can heal toe and yes, I know what slip angles are.

    2. Grow up.

    3. Of course driver differences make a huge difference, no one is saying otherwise. We're merely saying that all things being equal, a Lotus will eat an S2000 for lunch on the track.

The big-name tracks I've been on are Road Atlanta and VIR. I've also done plenty of HPDE in parking lots, air strips, etc. But all of that is immaterial.

I hope you feel better about yourself for having called someone names on the internet.

  • Your S2000 sounds so sweet!

    I love S2000!

  • For high speed this s2000 is good, but for high acceleration and handling, the exige is fabulous!!!Every Lotus are my dreams cars!!

  • lovly s2000! nicly tuned, i think s2000 its a better choice for higher speed runs since its so rigid and due the longer wheelbase!

ill take the s2k and yea i know cars very well, s2kits my style of driving...

  • That lotus got handling! S2000 sounds sooo sweeeet!

  • saving up for a exige s, my favorite car !, to bad we are inside the honda :)

  • I am the happy owner of an Exige S, and I would love to compare the car to an S2000 on a track !

  • he/she is terrible at shift down...

    s2000 is crying "daddyyyyyyyyyy"

  • honda engine rules but the lotus chassis is better sticks to the road like glue . But the Honda engine in the Lotus and you have the best car in the world for the price

  • awesome video thanks for posting (same guy from s200 vs. m3 @ salzburgring, right?)

  • honda rules

  • you can see the exige is much faster at the exit of the corners, the s2000 catches up in the straights.

  • the lotus driver is horrible! i drive my elise on normal streets better than he does on the track. Now the honda driver is good.

  • Celima is a great driver with a perfectly prepared S2000.

  • guys, here's the secret behind this clip: the Exige is driving the whole track in 3rd gear :)

  • Its just the honda Gearbox - its so lick

  • This guy shifts gears quicker than the Lotus' driver. It might be the car's transmission though.

  • The S is NA. This guys is renown in itlay for his trackdays vids and his S2ks. But it is far to be stock .... it's got everything from custom exhaust to semi-slicks, included shorter gear ratios ... Now he has a Exige ... with an S2K engine in it ... and it's a bomb !

  • I worked with Toyota when that 1.8 VVTL-I motor came out and it was unreal how many cracked blocks and blown motors there were. I heard that they introduced a new Exige w/ a supercharger, I hope they fixed up that motor

  • My buddy has an Exige, its an amazing car (1 of only 3 in Michiga) for all the people unsure of the motor, its the same that they put in the Toyota Celica GTI.

  • Gts you mean ;)

  • Heres where weight and cornering speed come into play, I think the exige shouda been faster

  • Firstly, the Honda driver is defiantly the better of the two. Secondly, that was an Exige S1. You never see the S1 because there where only 601 made between 1999 & I think 2000. The Exige S1 has the N/A 1.8L Rover VHPD engine. They where mainly sold with either a 177bhp or 190bhp output. The S1 was much lighter than the later Toyota powered Exige S2. Plus the original car was more of a pure race car in as much as it created even more down force than the S2. The S1 was hard core!

  • im agree ( the honda driver is better)

  • Good driver, good sound, great circuit!! He worked his way up behind that Lotus but seemed reluctant to step into the tow. Understandable as the Honda seemed a little loose in spots. Great vid.

  • it's an old shape exige - rover engine. Toyota engines - 2004 onwards.

  • The Exige is an awesome car and would leave most things for dead on a track including an M3. Respect to the S2000 holding its own against a more track focused car. I would not turn any of them down.

  • Sorry guys, but Lotuses use Toyota engines, not Honda. It's around the same as the Corolla and Celica engines from what I've read (although probably slightly modified).

  • if hondas suck ass, why would they put honda engines in these cars??

  • That is definitely not an exige. It is an elise. An Exige would RIP an S2000 a new ass on any turn and straight. Even believing it is an exige is hard, unless the S is infact running forced induction. But from the looks and sound of it, it's not.

  • "Those fucken rice burning hondas suck ass, what the hell do u mean by vtech kicking ass."

You're a dumb fuck. The type of dumb fuck that compares a car under 35k to a car thats around 70k! dumb fuck that doesn't like that this s2k is holding its own being a car nearly half the price? Or you don't like that people throw s2k engines into these Lotus because Honda makes the sexiest N/A small engines around??? moron

  • If that's an exige, he sucks at driving.

  • I don't know what car is around 70k? The 2006 Elise sticker price starts at $39k. My Elise runs circles around S2000s at the track...and it has a stock from the Lotus factory, TOYOTA motor!

  • And the car in the vid is an 'Exige' which is even faster than the 'Elise'.

  • The Exige in the video looks like an older model. The 2006 and older models were the same exact speed 0-60 and quarter mile as the Elise. The Exige S which just came out this year (2007) is supercharged and IS ALOT faster!

  • that guy is going to be chasing the lotus for a long time goodluck

  • Those fucken rice burning hondas suck ass, what the hell do u mean by vtech kicking ass. that piece of shit couldnt catch that lotus cause it swings out of the turns hard as hell.

  • You do know that the lotus is running a 190hp TOYOTA celica gt-s motor. In fact the only reason the exige is sucha beast of a car is cause it weighs in at just over a ton.

  • Ahhh... the beautiful sound of a naturally aspirated F20/22. Music to my ears. Good driver.

  • ahahahah, i'm laughting. do you think it's a normal s2000?

it's not so...a lot of things were been changed...

the owner is a famous track day's driver, celima (italian). i know him and i'm telling just the truth.

p.s.:he has sold s2000 to buy an exige mk2. after 1 month he has put in his new lotus the s2000's engine! :-), fantastic!

  • VTEC JUST KICKED IN YO

  • first of all, no intake/headers/exhaust package is going to make 250whp out of an F20C. not even mugen or J's. and that S is most definitely NA, it's just gear whine. mine does it too, check my vids.

  • yea, this s2k is definitely n/a. i drive a 99 accord coupe v6. yea, not a true performance car or whatever, but im 19 and it was my first car, so i love it. but even my car makes a spooling noise under hard acceleration, ill never forget the day i first heard it. lol. my [luckier] friends who have s2k's have that spooling sound too. sweet vid, and nice driving.

  • wow

  • Sounds like gear wine to me. This car is clearly all motor.

  • It sounds like stock S2K to me, no mods

  • nah probably it has an intake, HFP springs/suspension, headers and exhaust. With that, an S2000 can easily get up to 250whp from a 2.0L engine...no need for a t/c or s/c...those are for pussies whose engine is crap.

  • I don't think thats true at all. i/h/e and tune will prolly not net you 250 Whp.

My bone stock '07 puts down 210whp and as i have been told time and time again, only FI will net you serious power.

  • love the sound of v-tech...maybe that's what people are hearing and thinking it may be turbo or supercharged...maybe not

  • its called straight pipe exhaust that S2000 is still not FIed ther are that good with good drivers as well...

  • the s2k isnt turbocharged the whine is in all s2000's. the exige is definitely the better of the two though. i love the s2000 definitely not stock.

  • i agree wit every1 who believe dis s2k is na coz it is. its got no bov and any whistleit makes is the normal noize of an s2k at high rpm. that my 50cents anyways.

  • Bitchin!

  • Listen to the sound around 2:45. That whining your hear in addition to the exhaust note is a tell-tale sound of a turbocharger. You can hear it slowing down as the driver brakes into the curves right near the end.

  • That's not turbo whine, it's Clutch friction plate feedback that's common with all AP1 S2000's. I should know, I own one.

  • the guy in the s2000 is a perfect driver.

  • It definately doesn't sound turbo or supercharged, I've had the pleasure of driving one and they definately don't need forced induction, the vtec engines are superb.

  • No way a standard S2000 would keep up with an Exige on the bends OR straights.

  • No one said it was a starndard S2000 this S2000 is moded but what some users were saying that it was Forced induced and not Naturally aspirated. Most S2000s dont need internal engine mods to make them quicker on the track. Alot of race s2ks usually only need the regular, intake, exhaust, fuel pressure, and other little things done to the engine. The other would be to lighten it up since it is a convertible car, and alot of suspension work. All S2ks stock have a 50/50 weight distribution.

  • the s2k is supercharged (listen the little whistle) this s2k is the same one that beated an m3 on this same track (& maybe that same day).

  • This is not a Forced Induced S2K. I own a S2K. Most autocross and track S2K racers froun opon Turbos and Superchargers on S2K because there are more issues to worry about due to an S2K is a high compression engine. If I remember right 1999-2003 S2Ks are the highest compression vehicles that Honda/Acura makes.

  • The engine he is running is a F20C engine same as mine. F22C dont rev that high, they have a lower compression (not by much) higher liter (by .2) Lower RPM by 1000, and more torque. The F20C is the opposite of the F22C. F20C is great at High revs but I hate anything lower than 5500rpm (to be honest it feels like a Civic).

  • The F22C engine's redline is 8300, not 8000. I should know, I own an AP2

  • HAHAH!! The s2000 COULDN"T pass the lotus?? And the lotus has a smaller engine 2zz-ge 190 hp built by Yamaha/Toyota only 1.8 Liters... And the F20 is 2.0 liters.

The s2000 in the vid has a f20c, not the f22c because the s2000 is clearing revving to 8900 rpm.

  • uhhhh. s2k's dont need force induction. we got vTec nigga

  • Yeah, both of them were NATURALLY ASPIRATED!!! the S2K was very loud though, had to be runnign straight with a changed air intake, could even be running individuals... but gotta love the Exige, did you see its cornering abilities, ofcourse the S2K had the straights, but when corners came, the Exige was gone!

  • Hmm S2000 was boosted. Don't know if it was a supercharger or a Turbocharger. Probably turbo from the way it winds up as the engine revs. Honestly the driver didn't seem that good. he brake turned a lot and the S2000 is rear wheel drive.

  • it wasn't boosted becuase there was no turbo spool or blow off at all and I know what a supercharged s2k sounds like.. The most they could have done is change out the stock exaust and headers and maybe the air intake.. Basicly it's a NATURALY ASPIRATED S2000 =P

  • I own an 02 S2000 and it sounds EXACTLY like the one in the video when its opened up. Wake up people. The S2000 is Hondas TOP sports car and its track behavior reflects the many many years honda has dedicated to F1 racing. The S2000 is a race car.

  • nsx will eat your s2k anyday. sorry

  • That's nice, but this video has nothing to do with the NSX.

  • Yeah its turbo charged. Supercharged is more of a high pitched whisteling.

  • No its not. Earfight do you own one? I do and I can mail you a copy of my title to prove it. Trust me its not forced induced. Read my other post. Most rally or perforemance race S2k dont use forced induction systems. My Naturally aspirated S2k also has a whining sound that resembles the sound of a small turbo spool.

  • and im here still wondering how can S2000 be so fast >.<, its a hot ass video thou

  • LOL noooo it isnt nurburgring

  • You're right. Definitely not Nurburgring because it's Salzburgring.

  • thats not Nurburgring

  • that shits sicccc...
