I'm no expert on sharks, at all...but the fact that the shark was, fast enough to bite and go before the victim even saw it makes me lean towards it being a "hit and run" type attack? The shark is biting to see what that strange thing in their territory is, and one they realize that it's not their normal prey then they leave.

Humans interact and come across bees far more often than swimming in close proximity to sharks. Same with car accidents. Theres millions who drive each day, how many swim with sharks? Sharks do not like human meat, they bite usually from curiosity (humans are not familiar to them), or because humans are mistaken for seals, but once they get a bite they leave. As the victim said, the arm fell of as we was getting on the boat, which means that the shark didn't eat it. Whether we like it or not Sharks do not eat humans (believe me if they wanted to there would be nothing left of the diver) nevertheless they might attack humans, so we must be careful.

I hear about only 8 species of sharks biting arms, I just don't live by the ocean so I don't pay much attention to it and I grouped all sharks in the category of "biters".

Sharks do not like human meat, they bite usually from curiosity (humans are not familiar to them), or because humans are mistaken for seals, but once they get a bite they leave. As the victim said, the arm fell of as we was getting on the boat, which means that the shark didn't eat it. Whether we like it or not Sharks do not eat humans (believe me if they wanted to there would be nothing left of the diver) nevertheless they might attack humans, so we must be careful.

@whataboutredlorry -- it's true they aren't but they are potentially the most feared animal in the ocean, which is why there is so much emphasis on these animals and what they are capable of. It's interesting.. and people are interested in hearing about such incredible attacks because it's one of those things you never want to happen but it does! It's like a car wreck or a train wreck.. you just can't look away.
