@bigchiefmingingbolok no till 50 u had normal goverment wich showed some stuff to public but now your world goverments dont show to public nothing what they invent and blieve theyre are some crazy shit invented 20 years forward if not more but we dont know nothing about it
Great footage! These Lockheed videos help us 20 and 30 somethings understand the progression of modern aircraft. And do so without heavy metal that makes my ears bleed.
this was one of the u.s.'s best plane though it didnt get the best standards but it was the predecesor of the sr-71 which is larger and can carry more fuel, not to mention two cockpits. they use them for training
In the bare titanium this must be one of the most beautiful aircraft that has ever flown - shows what can be done when there's the need and the knowhow. Thanks for posting this, Lockheed Martin...
When I was a kid in the Valley (CP),I had Rocketdyne testing breaking the House windows and low flying planes like this breaking windows and guess what I got,I got a very big spanking every time a window got wreck. And when they did it a night and I was alone(lots),it scared this little kid to death almost.
Kudos to the CIA for making the whole series of blackbirds possible in the first place! Kelly Johnson said later that they "built the wrong airplane" he thought the YF-12 interceptor version should have been the "pick of the litter".
@flightrulez A-12 was the FIRST of the blackbirds, THEN the YF-12 interceptor version. THEN came the SR-71....basically a loaded down, version of the A-12 with a guy in back.
@beefforhire Groom Lake isn't technically an "Air Force Base" per-say. Groom Lake is a DOD research facility for use by all Defense Department offices and agencies, but it is maintained by Detachment 3 of the Air Force Flight Test Centers.
thanks for sharing Lockheed

Lockheed needs another Clarence Johnson! Would love to see what that genius would have come up with using today's technology.

@Rudeinfw No - the A-12 was in service from 1963-1968 and led to the development of the SR-71.

At 1:15, what model is the aircraft flying alongside the Blackbird? Looks like an F-104...

@89Sunbird The chase planes at groom at the time were F-101 Voodoos

I never understood, was this project cancelled due to cost?
flightrulez 1 year ago
@flightrulez No the A-12 was used in reconnaissance missions. It retired soon after being built, but it was one of the building blocks for the SR-71.
ihavtugo 1 year ago
@ihavtugo But I always thought that the A-12 came after the SR-71, because I was told that the A-12 was a high altitude interceptor.
flightrulez 1 year ago
@flightrulez A-12 was the FIRST of the blackbirds, THEN the YF-12 interceptor version. THEN came the SR-71....basically a loaded down, version of the A-12 with a guy in back.
beardhd 1 year ago
@flightrulez It's a simple mistake. Just Google A-12 you'll find everything you need to know.
ihavtugo 1 year ago
@flightrulez It was cancelled due to Gen. Curtiss LeMay wanting the ONLY reconnaissance role for the USAF...Thereby cutting the CIA's throat
