  • Wow! A pre (or post?) beard David Haskell! Well, I actually like the beard better.

  • Amazing, as well as fun!

  • im gonna be judas in my show choir xP

  • every actor has their crazy eyes lolol

  • After a lifetime of adoring Godspell (and doing it in High School like half the world), I just found out TODAY that Mr. Nathan (Exec. Producer of Bones, a show which I enjoy) is THE Stephen Nathan that played Jesus in the original Godspell! God knows that that recording (as well as the movie version w/Victor Garber as Jesus) played a major part in my developmentr when I was a teen ager in the 70's and as an actor later on in life. Way to go Stephen!

  • Im playing Judas in my high school production of Godspell, and I have to say Haskell is the best Judas in my mind.

  • No one does it better than these two :D

  • 1 dislike? Must be the devil.

  • There needs to be another movie of this. At least a Broadway revival.

  • @Veggieman87 There is a Broadway revival in the works! It starts previews in October.

  • @rcktmanil Yay! This is just such a fun show.

  • John the baptist and Judas's character are played by the same actor but are two different characters. This is done for connivance sake as the stage show has only 10 cast members and to take up space.

You can also watch the movie version here on YouTube if you are dying to see it. Simply search Godspell.

  • one person's olive tree is dying.

  • My theatre company are doing this show.... love it! <3 :)

  • snazzy outfits

  • that was so good

  • Stephen Nathan is still bitter about Victor Garber taking his spot in movie history.

  • Does anyone know of other "Vaudeville/Musical Hall" songs like this? Thanks :)

  • What happened to the sound?

  • those guys arnt from the real cast ican sing better then them and im ten some words arnt even in the real song

  • @momofdougie

You may be able to sing better, but you sure can't spell!

  • @momofdougie Dude, you're not ten. And if you were, you would never have seen Godspell, much less memorized the lyrics of it.

  • @momofdougie What do you mean "some words arn't (sic) even in the real song"? I have the Original Off-Broadway Cast CD of this show and they sung the same words. Are you talking about how they skip over the last chorus where the entire cast joins them?

  • what are those stick thingys and how do they pop em?? im assuming that they are extending things right?? where can i get one i must have it!!

  • really fun to do aand watch

  • David Haskell looks alot different in the broadway version then the movie version.

  • @Tom6093 not really. he just has a beard in the movie :D

  • If I didn't know it was him, I might not have recognized David Haskell without the beard. He looks so different. His performance here and in the movie are both excellent (the definitive Judas in my book) but it's interesting to see how different they are. Clearly, he understood the difference between stage and screen acting. I agree that Victor Garber was better as Jesus. All else aside, Garber and Haskell had great chemistry during this number. They worked together so well.

  • eight or nine years ago I was casted like Judas!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Stephen Nathan was never in the original movie w/ David Haskell

  • David Haskell is God.

  • you cant beat David Haskell as Judus.

  • two words, Jeremy Irons.

  • I was casted as Judas about a week ago, and this by far is my favorite. This version is amazing, and personally this version is better than the movie. I'm hoping our choreography is exactly like this one!

  • i like the movie version better than this, even david haskells singing in it! but i still love it!!!

  • LOVE IT

  • i just finished playing judas, and i have to say i liked our version of all for the best better...

  • Same...i really like our All for the best and we have a female as Judas and i personally think she does it a lot better

  • We're doing this at College next year and we are auditioning nextmonth.

My teachertold me she can seeme as Judas and I'm a girl.

    Lmao.

I think it would be cool.

    X's

  • break a leg!

  • Thanks.

Hopefully I'll get Judas or Jesus.

    I love this song.

    X's

  • @scuzzbuzzproductions

Very cool;) I'm a girl and I'm playing Judas in a production coming up. girl power!

  • I mean I know Judas doesn't have the best songs to sing but it's an amazing part.

I don't mind if I get it or not but it would be awesome.

    X's

  • We're doing this musical in my school. It looks so fun!!!. =]

  • I'm playing Judas in this play right now!!

  • i just finished playing him today! it's great isnt it?

  • Thank you for posting! What a treat. Do you know the broadcast details on this performance?

  • OMIGOD! I Love it so much more than the movie version! that one's ok, but this one is so much more impressive!

  • my groups doin this number yay!!!!

  • 10x better than the movie version. :) it's so serious

  • I agree with Victor Garber being better wholeheartedly.

  • Good, but I think the 1973 movie, with Victor Garber is better.

  • SO want to do this number... it looks like a lot of fun.

  • not original Jesus tho...Victor Garber was in the movie but he was also in the original play to...

  • vg was original in toronto...sn in nyc

  • I did a imdb search on him.

  • Just one question. Is Stephen Nathan still living? I know David Haskell is no longer with us.

  • Stephen Nathan is alive and well, and the Executive Producer of the TV series "Bones"

  • haha, I have to do a dance to this song :)

  • Oh wow! This is awesome! <3 Do you have any more clips from the original cast?

  • Sorry I don't. It was an special with people doing numbers from the shows that they did on Broadway.

  • Aww thats ok. Thanks for replying ^_^

  • David Haskell...ah, he was so beautiful at that age.

That said, I am thankful for the (comparatively) understated performances in the movie (not to mention david's facial hair). This - apparently the standard stage version - is too campy and circus-like.

  • So cool!

  • We were just working on a tap dance to this song in our Musical Theatre class tonight and a Fosse style piece to "Turn Back O Man"!

  • What timing...I just posted this today!
