  • Brilliant!

  • I specially do not want ocean as my engulfing power is is not too much so a drop(pandit jasraj) is more than sufficient for me.

  • nice singing pandit ji.. you created magic on stage..

  • unique performence by great pandit who is a rare gift to this universe.

  • whole performance bhai ??

  • Genuine Ustad ! Hail from Pakistan....Jasraj sahib !

  • hello why you upload incomplete bandish? this is incomplete and your other uploaded raga bhairav too. you are a music killer.

  • @bhikhiasilsala Guess what, the music that Bade Ghulam Ali Khan saheb sang was and still is originally hindu music. Khyaal music is predominantly a hindu influenced style of singing which has some sufi influences. And same goes with Fateh Ali Khansaheb. And more importantly, why call it hindu or muslim music more importantly it is music. If you think pandits are horrible why did Bade Ghulam Ali saheb ask pt.jasraj to be his disciple?

  • @omsatya

Was Pnadit Jasraj not a disciple of Akhtari Bai Sahiba?

  • there is a tint of a little bit drama added to his performance in the recent years.that is true and cannot be denied.agreed that he sings good in todays time.but that should not stop him from developing further. don't get furious and begin to use abusive language.

  • the lineage of musicians that has been followed in india since a long time is absolutely superb. and all of us who have got a glimpse of it, go to a concert today looking forward for a program which we must have heard in the past/ if not better then atleast somewhat close to it. but the sad part is, we have to go back home disappointed. there are so many people in india who UNDERSTAND MUSIC and thus, realize the difference. if we criticize him, its because we want him to sing better.

  • pandit jasraj is ok. i have come across comments saying that he is greatest, best and so on. but to all those who have made these comments, do you not realize that indian classical music is as vast as an ocean and jasraj ji is like one drop in it. and to all those youngsters who are enjoying abusing people who are being critical, pls don't go ahead thinking in a stereo type manner. give a thought to those comments.

  • @taansenkitaan

Plz....give me names and performances....not mere comments ! I have looked for so long !

  • it is called taanpura.. also called tambura.. but taanpura is usually used term..

  • Sir do you have the video for the rest of this performance? the entire performane? it would be very nice if you could put that up too... thank you so so much :)

    Jai ho! :)

  • ht tp :// bandishein . wordpress . com

  • so good

  • plese... sangeet ko hindu muslim me mat banto.Pl.. ananad lijiye. do not be fool in so called fenatic communal baten.

  • i came across pt. Jasraj ji only now...sorry for my ignorance...but once you are in his field you cannot escape..such a magnetic resonance to his voice...time stands still when you listen to him..

  • @bhikhiasilsala I saw some of your comments to others and their response to you. By now you must know waht you can do and what you are...

  • Panditji is the greatest. I adore him and his style of performing. All the salutes and namaskaars to him.

  • @pandeyniraj123 Shukriya, karam , mehrabani aapki.

  • What a performance!!!!!!!

  • @pandeyniraj123 vinaya shenoy madam i know that you are great lover of music. the song you have selectedis liked by all of us

  • one paka k.p.mukherjee use to underestimated pandit ji in his book. how paka he is?

  • To all trolls commenting, if you don't like, don't watch. To each his own. Show some respect for the difference in taste people have. And why make it a racist thing? This is an accomplshed artist singing. If you prefer another, go see their video.

  • @bhikhiasilsala Are Murkha, you are not qualified to stand near the likes of Pandit Jasraj-ji and Bhimsen joshi-ji, let alone comment on their singing skills.

  • @bhikhiasilsala

    stupidest comment ever !!!!!!!!!

you can also say, you dont know / understand this... but, by writing things like that you simply telling all, that you are a donkey. saying that Pt, Jasraj and pt Joshi dont know about swares tells a lot about you.

I would not be surprised if you say your father is your son.

stupidest comment ever and ever !

  • @adiddude Thanks for your comments.

  • simply divine. great performance

  • I do not get into the arguments of who is the best among the great hindustani exponents of current generation. One thing is for sure that Pandit Jasraj is excellent on his control on the raga and his perfromance at this advanced age is really amazing. Salute to his rendition...

  • The intensity is simply divine.. And the involvement, complete.. Just Gr8 !!.. Grateful to you, Pandit Jee.

  • The man is blowing my mind! Love the tabla player, too.

  • He touched Sa in 4th octave.. .. I dont believe it..

  • Kala Ramnath (violin) also brilliant - she shines in this company

  • SUCH A GREAT MUSIC!

  • what's the name of those instruments with the long necks?

  • @fwerk

It is called tanpura or tanbura.

  • @fwerk There are a total of 4 instruments: Swaramandal, Harmonium, Tanpoora & a pair of Tabla.

  • Verry Good. Buhat Aala. Buhat Umda... Ay Logo Ghaur Karo ... Pandit Ji Ny Nahayat Aalaa Tareeqay Sy Subtek Adaa Ki Hai. Aur AASAM ki Taal Ny Tu Mujhy Hilaa K Rakh Diya.. Jeooo Pandit Ji Hazaar Saal Jeoo. Khuda Salamat Rakhay..

  • @nadeem0432

    thanks for comments. Shukria

  • Amazing! Tabla player is also very good! Is he of the Farukhabaad Gharana?

  • bahut shandar . gayki ke bol bhi likhe jane chahiye .

  • im absolutely addicted to this raga

  • I'm not.

  • I know what you mean! LOVE it!!

  • such INTENSITY on the lead guy

  • wow, first time ive heard this and im a fan

respect to india from a pakistani!

  • KEYA BATT HAI... VERY NICE!!

  • really sangeet martand! this is the first time i'm listening to pt. jasraj.....and i'm already in love with his singing!!!

  • Music in its purest form.

    Very very beautifull!!

    Spiritual empowering even

  • This must have been amaizing live.

  • This is divine! Simply Divine!

  • I assume Jasraj is one of the great singers of this century.

  • Ssssssssssuperb...

  • i don't know why, this music doesn't sound good to me. But soo many people think that this is very good, so i just hope that some day, i can feel the same way. Maybe because i am very young and from a the new generation.

  • Nah, I'm from the new generation too, and I'm wild for Hindustani Sangeet. I've heard Filmi, Rock, Rap, alternative, heavy metal, you name it...But Hindustani music is far more intense, powerful, and real than any other type...

  • @adiddude me too,

I am very happy you are from the new generation and you love this!!!

    :D

  • It can be harmful to talk about God in this context, but is´nt this devine? It reminds me of the deep question: from where does music come and for what reason? This music comes from a place, however, where I would like to rest!

  • By the Way: Is this Hindustani?

And: Does anyone know: Who is the tablaist?

I keep listening to this piece every evening, because it reminds me of the great great Bhimsen Joshi!

  • It definitely doesn't sound Carnatic, so I'd hazard the guess that it indeed is Hindustani. As for the one on the tabla, no clue.

  • This must be one of the greatest singers of today. The music makes me wild of joy! Thanks for uploading!

  • amazing....

  • lovely

  • This is an evening raag. Best listened after listening to Raag Marwa.

  • Excellent :) Divine!!

  • Comment removed

  • I strongly disagree. To begin with he was an expert tabla player. So laya is in his blood. His music is divine as mentioned above. He is beyond reproach in all aspects of music.

  • living legend.

  • Comment removed

  • great performance, why no closeups of the tabla solos?

  • funny ^^ cute

  • divine

  • * * * * *

  • kia awaz hai is age mein bheee or kia clarity hai ..bohat aala

  • oo.. he's a great one..

  • kia baat hae pandit gee aap ki...iss omer may aawaz may itni jawani aur dilkashi...wah wah...wah

  • As always Pt. Jasraji is great! Though I am not an expert in classical music but know the basics and for me any music which is soothing to my ears and touches heart is real Music. I am a fan of his. Was lucky enough to spend some time with him personally at a friend's place. A very genuine a and egoless person. S. Santwani

  • the instrument is called the surmandal - swarmandal (indian harp)

  • All said, I think there is something to what saranskaushik is pointing out. The difference between Poorvi and Pooriya Dhanashri is marginal at a techinical level, but profound in terms of raga swaroop. In this rendition at least, the Sangeet Martand is not successful in effectively sustaining the distinction beyond a point. Indeed, even the composition is questionable in this regard; the second line of the Astayi, for example, teeters dangerously close to Pooriya Dhanashri.

  • Could someone tell me the name of the instrument that Pt. Jasraj is playing in this video? Thanks

  • surmandal

  • Comment removed

  • Thank you!

  • Pandit Jasraj's performance has reached a superb artistic achievement way long ago.

  • Dear SARANSHKAUSHIK, I would ask you to listen to raga Bairagi Bhairav rendered by Pdt. Jasraj, which may change your views about him. So far as Pdt. Bhimsen is concerned, I have no disagreement with you. I love the bhajan 'Jo Bhaje Hari Ko Sada, So Hi Parama Pada Pawega....'

  • saranskaushik, may I ask who the hell are you to compare the two giants of Hindustani Sangeet? Have you won the padmavibhushin award like Pt. Jasrajji and Pt. Joshiji? How in hell are you qualified to judge? Have you even heard the all around singing of these masters, even heard them live or have you even gotten to know them? Get this clear: YOU ARE A NANOSCOPIC SPECK OF DUST COMPARED TO BOTH THESE PANDITS. DO NOT JUDGE. u will only make a FOOL of yourself. shameful.

  • fantastic & meditating music which jasraj jis

talented singing really is gods blessing.

    pranam to you jasrajji

  • I have heard both these great masters in concert atleast once, and know Pandit Jasraj personally, and I will tell you that you cannot compare the two. They are equal in every field of Hindustani music, which includes the fact that age has had NO effect on their singing. DO NOT MAKE A FOOL OF YOURSELF BY COMPARING,BY ASSERTING PT JOSHIJI'S GREATNESS IN SUCH A WAY, YOU ARE DISGRACING BOTH HINDUSTANI SANGEET AND PT JOSHIJI. Shameful.

  • cool.

  • does any one know please if he sings bhajan Om Namo Narayanaya? as I couldn't find it all on here

  • Really lame question and answer reciprokation. PT Jasraj tried some interaction both with the tabla player and sarangi/esraj player but they both failed to respond. Ram Narayan and Zakir Hussain would have done their job much better.

  • very endearing...

  • Would like to hear Pt. Jasraj singing Raga Rewati(Bairagi Bhairav).Does anybody have it?

  • This type of music is truly superior, exhibiting traits of the divine raag. The root of all music which remains flawless, pure and incomparable. Great honour to witness the execution of raag by one unquestionably talented artist, God Bless.

  • It is better not to comment on their personal life, we are not even eligible for that. Atleast not in t his life.

  • they don't drink, they are vegitarian. lol

    thanks for sharing great stuff.

  • alcohol has nothing to do with ability to sing..we all drink one way or another. both are great. no match..just different styles, thats is what classical is all about. just listenm to them and not bother about their personal lives.

  • yes you are right.

after all k.l. saigal sahab was a known alcoholic.

  • This is beautiful..

  • Any decent listener will not compare two and put none down against the other.

please do enjoy both but do not compare and argue

this music fils you with peace. I was not allowed to listen to music, it is suppose to be against islamic religion and Now i feel thaty music is God's creation, or else why would he made my heart and ears to listen to this amazing music.

i rather be a Kafir but would listen to this soul touching music.

  • You're not a kafir. God is everywhere, especially in your heart. It joins us all together in one.

  • Music is HARAM, but who cares?

Exactly who much fun can I have, before i go to hell ??

  • @gandumohamed

I am moved by ur comment..

Please spread this music as much as u can.

I won't comment on religion, but the current Hindusthani music has become so because of the contributions from Many Islamic stalwarts like Bade ghulam ali khan sahib, Ustad Amir khan sahib.

Music has no religion. Swar hi bhasha hai, aur swar hi dharm..!!

  • Please please, can some one let me know when Pandit jo is coming to uk?

i would do any thing to listen to him live and have an audience

    he is the greatest

  • we as indians should be proud of what guru panditji can produce at his age,MAGIC

  • Bhimsen Joshi and jasraj are definatley of the same caliber, if you are connoseir of bhimsen then you would automatically know of all the great masters and wouldnt beable to "COMPARE" . Besides they are of different styles how to say which one is better. also Joshi is an "ALCOHOLIC" and is known for passing out during a performance.

  • Dear tintala

Its not true what you say about Bhimsen Joshiji,

please respect him as a great master of classical music. He is best of the best maestros of icm.

  • knisar22 you did not read my post correctly, read it again , I said they are the same caliber, and it IS TRUE Bhimsen Joshi is an alcoholic..I DO respect him, you PLEASE respect. REad more carefully before you retort!Besides the poster of this video allows for comments.. sooo get over it

  • Mr tintala

Why you say about Bhimsenjis personnel life,

can you give the details where he passed out

during a concert, did you listned to him live.

You should not comment on his personnel life.

By saying so you are dis respecting him.

  • Mr. tintala

what is the point to say Bhimsenji is alcoholic,

by saying this you are not respecting him.

Here we are talking about his music, not his

personnel life. So keep it up to the music not

    personnel life.

What you know about him personally, I know him

for more than forty years, I also know Jasrajji for the same period and Jasrajji spent his childhood in the city where still

    I live.

  • Masterpiece!!!!!!!!

I was just unlucky to have missed an opportunity to see him in real life recently , when he performed in Dubai on the invitation of Indian consulate.

  • Awesome!

  • where and when was this?

  • if u guys think he's good, try listening to Pd bhimsen joshi...you'll get in touch with what 'singing' really is..

  • I agree wid you.

  • dude you cannot compare 2 masters, and u certainly dont have a right to say that Pt. Bhimsen Joshijee is better. They are of the same caliber in every aspect. Take this from someone who has been listening to Hindustani Sangeet for a VERY LONG time. You have no right whatsoever to judge great singers. Unless you are a great singer yourself, which i doubt. I really dont think that you are very in touch with Singing.

  • "They are of the same caliber in every aspect."

right there, it tells me about your taste & choice in music u've been listening to for "VERY LONG" time. its ok, to each their own! enjoy listening..

  • I agree. To each his own. I just have a habit of getting infuriated when people comment on masters, because there have been people who don't know a thing of classical music make comments that are insulting. I apologize if I appeared harsh.

DO NOT JUDGE. u will only make a FOOL of yourself. shameful.

  • Both of these Pandits hold each other in equal respect to themselves, and so WHO THE H E L L are you to compare? Have you performed for over 4 hours straight without tiring? Do you remember the sargams of over 500 ragas? Can you successfully render a mukta taan for more than three seconds without sounding like you have a cough? DO N O T COMPARE. YOU ARE A DISGRACE TO INDIAN CLASSICAL MUSIC. You don't deserve to listen to music if this is how you think.

  • wah kya kehnay. pandit ji still has an exceptional command over his voice. isnt he based in usa.

  • dear kjaan im looking everywhere for music from this panditji ,may he live a long happy life great respect for this legend fan from belgium grtz

  • great singer, I hope He will come in France..

  • great piece of music!! what i really appreciate about hindustani music is the perfect blend with the sruthi.

but does this great man have a worthy successor?

  • What an expertise! Wonderful surprise this morning, thanks for posting, please post more.

  • very great singer, thanks

  • For a 76 year old, pandit ji has excellent flexibility in his voice and still hits all three octaves effortlessly. Vocal support is by Pritam Bhattacharjee. Thanks for posting this. This is very nice.
