Sounds great, you play well, but this video really isn't very useful with the current quality. If you could do the same thing with a hi-res video it would be fantastic!
Peter Banks was claiming Invisible touch have reached more people because it sold milions , while these records are about 500.000, but noone tries to cover Invisible touch, while a lot of people are enthusiast when someone is able to play so well these old great things!
interesting how the part at 2:34 sounds like the intro to Watcher of the Skies. ;) i think Genesis used these chords in other sings as well, such as 'Hold On My Heart' and 'it' from The Lamb.
what kind of instrument do you have for the mellotron?? and what do you have your drawbar settings as on your organ? I have a Hammond XK3C and I am trying to replicate Bank's tone.
I heard Suppers Ready for the first time 37 years ago. Since then this tune has engraved in my brain. Your profile says that you are 29 years old. There must be something to this music that makes also younger people practise many hours to learn this piece of music. BTW I love these major 7th mellotron-chords at 2:34. Great performance. Thanks
Supper's Ready is the best of the progression-type musical marches across the keyboard I have ever heard. Such emotion and majesty. Cactusfloyd, you are the man!
I beg to differ Ottocento80. Cactusfloyd's Left hand chords ARE correct. In fact of all the vids I've seen on here of the 9/8 solo Cactusfloyds is the BEST! And mosr accurate.
Yea you really played this well - I'm just starting to learn this from the sheet music I finally got.
I hope I can play it this well.
I learned Firth of Fifth, Cinema Show and the Lamia and I'm working on a lot more Genesis songs, Tony Banks is the best keyboard composer of the 20th century.
great job!!! i've played the guitar (Steve's line) to the record before, but it's really intense to try to play just to your solo and not lose the groove of it. well played!
I own a Hammond organ model L-122 which Tony Banks used to record this song and you have absolutely made it sound like the recording even better than my organ can. Great job!
Hmmm, the drawbar setting is not exactly the same. BTW: Tony used a T-102 for the Seconds Out version (1977 tour), but yes this man can play the part to perfection. And when the Mellotron strings (M 400 3 violins I suppose, the original from the 1973 studio and live version was a Mellotron Mk II) come in, I'm in Heaven!
That was just great - loved it when the organ & (mellotron style) strings came together - that was just a delight to hear - what's the Kbds you're using ??

@Ottocento80
You post trying to sound like a music man.
But your not.
Because the chords were correct.
And you didn't mention intonation or timing, which were both quite good. Fell off a little bit in the middle, but was quite good.

Not convinced about the right upper hand! Looks like a sequencer might have been used on it except for the block chords??? Check it out carefully.

Probably the web-cam was crappy, resulting in the lack of motion, but he's for-sure playing the piece, and quite well.
