  • Had a medical recently and my LDL is through the roof, so I'm on (voluntary) porridge breakfasts. Just oats, water and milk. I've always liked it. In the old days we added sugar, but it'd be too sweet for my modern taste.

  • Using oatmeal on your face? Are you crazy?

    /)^3^(\

  • One thing I have to disagree with is, oatmeal is not a low calorie food. lol

  • dani I love your channel so much! I love your recipes!

  • thx

  • @LenQx :)

  • can you just buy the first type of oat and cut them up to make steel cut oats?

  • Wonderful informative video. Thanks

  • I am eating the rolled oats mixed with fruit without cooking , so far so good; any helpful hints of do or don't would be appreciated?

  • I've tried other supermarket brands, and they all have an unfavorable odor. Quaker is not only a brand, it's also superior to whatever else is out there.

  • I love you

  • It's isn't oatmeal unless it's Quaker.

  • you're pretty funny man. Quaker is just a name brand there is nothing special about quaker oats it is just a little more expensive because of the name.

  • Danni is a boy name

  • oatmeal?

    ARE YOU CRAZY?

yeah i came here just to say that. :D

  • I never even knew about oat groats. One question, I like my oatmeal a bit more watery (almost like soup viscosity). The oatmeal is still cooked, but has more water. Is it still as healthy?

  • Oat Groats ??? just when i thought old fashioned oatmeal couldn't get any better...

Woman you've outdone yourself, definatly going for groats, Thanx for posting

  • i put a little sugar on it

  • Best breakfast ever! (in terms of health) =)

  • And I said "Oatmeal? You crazy?!"

  • Youre a sexy oatmeal teacher...

  • I Love Oatmeal Cut Some Green Apples In Mine!

  • Well I learned alot about oatmeal! who knew?

  • Oatmeal is better than "No Meal"

  • is it ok to use quakers oats if not what is a better brand but something that you don't have to grind or add water to it and let it sit over night just something you can use easily in the morning

  • @virginiatechfanx I think Quaker oats are perfectly fine. Any brand of rolled oats will do!

  • @danispies do you have a boyfriend?

  • hey i am just wondering about rolled quick oats... the nutrition facts are the same as rolled old fashioned oats but i have heard rolled quick oats have less nutrients.

  • @virginiatechfanx

    McCann's Irish Oatmeal

I buy it from Trader Joes, but I moved so I had to find somewhere else to get it. Put in the rice cooker, with the lid off or else it boils over, and it is an experience. Grains kind of crackling in your mouth. Very good with plain yogurt and some fruit.

  • i eat my oetmeal with soy milk.. good?... bad?. thanks great video

  • i eat oatfit a dollar for 5 and no suger

  • LOL-Oatmeal by itself isn't high in protein.

  • i love your videos.thank you

  • @lesbryab You're welcome! Thanks for watching.

  • I just want everyone to know that you are not doing your food any justice by microwaving it. Its nice that this lady is trying to get you to eat more whole grains but she should know better than to microwave anything!!! As a holistic nutrtionist I can tell you that you absolutely destroy about 73% of all vitamins and minerals found in a food once it has been in teh microwave for a minute. Putting healthy foods in the microwave is a sham, you shoud just eat cardboard.

  • @TheYesterdaysnews

    Incorrect!

Might I suggest you do some research on the properties of microwaves and water molecules?

  • @TheYesterdaysnews how about the fact that vegetables keep more then 50% more of their vitamins if microwaved then steamed, i think your previous statement is false so if you want to share your tips make a video and dont bash hers she's just trying to be helpful

  • thats a good idea breakfast, banana and almonds on oats

  • Are you a nutritionist

  • Quaker Oats Instant packs with low sugar, only 4grams lol

  • the instant packs are the best kinds of oatmeal...peaches and cream etc....taste much better than that regular oatmeal.

  • I add honey instead of sugar with my rolled oats, is it better, or somehow similar. In terms of nutrition.

  • rolled oats are ten times better with milk (1/2 cup oats, 1 cup milk) takes a bit longer to cook. flavor with a teaspoon of fruit preserves of your choice. very good.

  • That was some good information on oatmeal. You do really good videos, and your gorgeous... why dont you have your own show yet lol... keep it up i enjoy your recipes.

  • I love the fact that you go into detail about everything! I just literally know more than my mother in law! How cool is that!

  • Great tip for my fast breakfast! Thanks a bunch!

  • I love your videos. I am studying to be a holist nutritionist and I find your videos to be a big inspiration and a source of valued information. Thank you!!

  • that sounds tasty!

  • this video is a godsend. I bought the 2nd one u mentioned before i knew anything about oatmeal. i put it in the microwave and it stuck to the bowl....a HUGE mess! I think i need to get the 3rd u mentioned though....faster time to prepare.

  • great information ... Thank you

  • Thank you for this video... simply great!.. educational..

  • @mrrrbt I eat them right off the bush.

  • sal-ah-ble fiber or

    sahl-you-bull fiber?

  • @HNonymous You say tomaayto - I say tomaaato... ;)

  • Awesome videos but they need color correction to be more enjoyable.

  • @DavidBlanch0 I know! We're working on it!

  • @mrrrbt

yea, but I'd rather eat it cooked because it feels good to eat of food to me, and it fills me up.

I don't know how the nutrition and calorie process works out

  • I simply love Youtube for this very reason.

    5/5

I don't know alot about food, but I think the less processed the oats, the slower they turn into sugar.

Ps. Rolled oats taste and texture are GROSS

I'm going to try the OAT GROATS.

    they look hardcore >=]

I'm about to try to make something creative by stove top after finishing oats.....

  • @bevon17 I'll groat your oat.

  • Is it ok to eat oatmeal with cold milk as if I were eating cereal? I definitely prefer that over cooked oatmeal.

  • Hi does anyone know what type of Oats are the lowest in terms of glycemic index value? I googled but get drastically varying results between sites.. peace!

  • is eating oatmeal for dinner healthy? as in....is there such a thing as "too much of oatmeal"...i'm desperate to lose weight so i've been eating oatmeal for both breakfast and dinner.

  • Well, eat too much of the same thing for several days may lead to diarrhea.

Source: Me, eating potatoes (mashed, boiled, steamed, etc.) for about 3-4 days.

Solution: Have some (healthy) varieties in your diet.

  • Do you soak the oats? How do you feel about soaking oats?

  • i just got schooled on oatmeal

  • Seriously Asians do oats so much better, Most delicious oats I've ever eaten was a bowl of plump steamed oats eaten with a small dollop of homemade fermented dwenjang bean paste somewhere in Korea.

  • I Love Oatmeal.

    Thanks !

  • Fuck Oatmeal with out raisins. If it don't got raisins I ain't fucking with it!(:

  • Amazing how octmeal work and hold those over time....it go to more ways...

    its a wonder......Mmmmmm

  • oatmeal is good

  • not low in calorieat all.

  • thanku so much for this breakdown

  • Oatmeal is made by God. Its the perfect food for big muscles

  • i had a question is it good to just eat oatmeal... breakfast lunch and dinner...?

  • i am into your site now ..nice site ..and you look gracious.Soo beautiful lady..

Oh and also nice cooking..Love it

  • Right... high in protein?

You're joking!... There are many carbohydrates, which make you fatty when you eat too much per day...!

  • dumbass, oatmeal is not fattening. You can eat it 3 times a day and not worry about getting fat. Get the fuck out of here!! you don't know shit. I bet you have the body of a hippo

  • @buckwheat40

Hey man cool down. I did not insult you, so stop that! I know that you can eat oats 3 times a day and you won't get fat, but you have to do sports.

And that's the point most of the people fail. They train no hard enough but they're eating and eating and eating and then they are wondering why they get fat!

  • So if a person eat just medium size portions of oatmeal a day they will get fat of what about eat it every week like a couple of days of a week for lunch they will get fat? Yes I am talking about w/out exercise

  • Most people only eat Oatmeal for breakfest. You know, right before you're gonna be active all day, so those carbs are put to good use. Don't spread your stupidity.

  • high in protein? 4 grams?

  • It's high in protein for a grain. If you want legitimate sources of protein you should be eating lean meat, beans, or using protein whey powders.

  • OOOOHh she touched me its true!! i remember!!!

  • it's pronounced: sol-yu-bul

I really didn't notice that before I saw your comments, but really. Please keep your dumb comments to yourselves. Please.

  • Thanks for the info. I've eaten quick oats

with either honey or brown sugar for years. I like to

use soy milk. Your husband is a lucky man, I'd like to find a woman like you and

    marry her!

  • Steel cut oats, warm/cook rice cooker, outlet timer, breakfast ready in the morning. 1:3 oats:water. Toss in maple syrup, cane sugar, milk when you wake up. Eat. Fart city.

  • how many grams is half a cup of oats?

  • packed with nutrients inside those boobs!

  • nice tits hunny.

  • i also enjoy a warm meal

  • i eat the rolled oats in milk just like a cereal real chewy but i add cinnamon and brown sugar.. or there great to put in a meal replacement shake.. or just cooked like regular.. sometimes if i microwave them in a bowl they take like 1 mnute flat...and i put flax seed on them that way.. mega fiber and cholesterol reducing.. this is really helped me simce im a weight lifter that likes to stay kinda chunky

  • you are very smart about dieting and foods

  • MIX IN A BLENDER = 100gr of oat, 40 gr of whey protein, some cottage cheese 20 gram of high quality oil (olive etc)

    ===BREAKFAST OF CHAMPION !!!

  • Nice tutorial. wtf is up with the first one taking 45 minutes! to cook and the last one taking 2 minutes? lol. Nobody is going to buy the 45 minute one.

  • I do. Steel cut oats arent cooked beforehand which is why they take so long. But usually though, I usually eat Scottish oatmeal without cooking with some goats milk, now that is good. I eat it at least twice a day.

  • I eat oatmeal everyday. Makes you lose weight like crazy.

  • this is very true. i have noticed i am slimmer

  • im eatin some now MrOatmealface

    xp

  • I want me some oatmeal

  • haha. Dani I think I looooove you. :-)

Seriously, This lady is effin' ACE. I'm glad of people like this giving proper back to basics advice. The more like this on telly giving people ideas for how to cut the crap out of their diets in a workable viable way, the better.

  • yes

  • Those packets that are high in sugar are also high in sodium.

  • Also, in The Simpsons episode "Kamp Krusty", Bart and some of the other children are forced to eat "Krusty Brand Imitation Gruel" as their only meal, punctuated by the comment "Nine out of ten orphans can't tell the difference." Martin, who spent the episode in fat camp, later remarked, "Sweet, nourishing gruel!"

  • Gruel is a colloquial expression of any slop that is of unknown character, e.g. pea soup; soup is derived from sop, the slice of bread which was soaked with broth or thin gruel, The eponymous character asks the master of the workhouse for some more, and is struck a blow to the head for it.

  • OATMEAL IS TEH SUX!!!!!

  • u piece of shit

  • Marry me.

  • Id love to give her some of my nutrition,,,oohhh yeah some protein.

  • lol

  • PORRIDGE

  • i love oats.

i mix anything from brown sugar & cinn to raisans, banans, honey or any type of nuts like almonds and pecans.

I love oatmeal pie crust made with shredded apples.

  • I LIKEZ HONEE NUT OATMEALZ

  • oatmeal is fucking gross

  • Actually steel cut oats work very well in the microwave. Heat to boiling, remove and let them set overnight (no need to refrigerate). Then reheat in microwave again to boiling, cool, eat. This is the best and by far the easiest way to cook them. I have it down to a science using the same size bowls and measuring oats and water, so I just set the microwave for 4 min. and leave.

  • IDK I went to the Store and checked out the nutritional info on the little instant packets and the instant packets had

138cals -- What surprised me is that I then saw the quick oats and it turned out that 1/2 cup of them has 152cals...I got confused.

  • 1/2 CUP OF OATMEAL IS 150 CAL. Steel cut oats have less moisture and 1/2 cup of those equals 300 cal. Once they are cooked, the volume of 1/2 cup instant or old fashioned oatmeal will be the same as 1/4 cup of steel cut oats after preparation. The package you have has less than 1/2 cup of oats, and probably sugar in there too. These "value added" packages are usually much more expensive than adding your own ingredients (like sugar and cinnamon) to the boxes of 100% oats.

  • The trouble is that for some of us, oatmeal tastes like glue.

The steel cut oats are better, but rolled outs are worse than eating paste. Blech!

Now oatmeal cookies have potential. I think oatmeal is better as an ingredient than it is as a food on it's own.

  • glue?!?!? lol

The majority prefers it as a food rather than an ingredient.

  • stop eating foods high in fats, salts and sugars, and you'll taste the fine sweets of the grain - it can take you a while (month or 2) if you're used to average American food.

  • i eat tons of oatmeal. sometimes the whole tub. it definitely makes me feel full.

  • Whatever you eat, I probably have you beat. I buy 50 lbs of bulk steel cut oats and eat 6 servings of them a day.

  • Do you eat anything else? I have been considering doing nothing but oatmeal and fruit for a week.

  • Haha! You're trippin' ! ME? SORRY? You should be sorry because you have no idea what you are talking about.

  • Quick oats tend to have the glue texture. Old-fashioned oats much less so and steel cut oats the least gluey, unless you overcook them of course. They will still be creamy because of the higher fat content though.

  • Please keep the videos coming Dani, you are amazing. I feel totally filled in about Oatmeal now.

  • great information. I eat it every day.

    Juan

  • Same here, every morning for breakfast. I usually add diced fresh fruit in it also. Always have a fruitsallad in the fridge, no sugar added ofc. Oatmeal is great for keeping you feeling full for a long time. The kind I use is the third one shown in the video but with extra fiber. Not sure what the english name of it would be(I'm swede) but they are kinda darkish brown in colour. Tastes great, better then the regular version that is lighter in colour.

  • figured out what the english name was I think, wheat bran.

  • you made me think about oatmilk again, hmmm I have to investigate my kitchen tomorrow ;-)

  • Great!!!

  • you need to make more videos

  • Thanks Dani! Just what I need

for my diet. Used to eat many rolled oats,

but have lost touch with them over time.

Mmmmmm.... a bit of brown sugar or

maybe a fistful of raisons... spoon of butter,

sliced almonds, splash of milk... apple chunks...

Ok, Thanks again for the inspiration!

  • Mmmm... well that's enough to inspire me!

  • Wow you're hot.

A healthy way to sweeten oatmeal is to substitute sugar with stevia.

  • Comment removed

  • Stevia is completely natural and is highly concentrated, and doesn't raise blood sugar.
