Today, the band I'm in got in a fight over if we should use midi drums or actual drums for our demo. We're new to the recording scene, and midi drums offer a more crisp sound.
I didn't say much the whole day. The only thing that ran through my head was this song, and how much it changed over the years.
Hopefully we can do the same, and make something truly awesome with what we have. Even if it means starting out with a gritty sound like this.
@SuperMegabar *sign* We went with the midi, but that doesn't mean we didn't try to record the drums. We tried for a week straight, but we kept running into noise issues. Our equipment is pretty faulty (cheap and all), and we don't have a mixing board (we run all microphone cables through the PA).
Someday, we will record with actual drums, but this is just a demo.
The name for this song came from a chapter in the book "The Talisman" by Stephen King and Peter Straub. It's about a kid (Jack Sawyer) who travels betweens our world and an alternate world called the territories. Researching that book is what led me to find this song. I'm glad I stumbled across it, I like it.
