This tune, and The Yardbird's live version of Smokestack Lightnin', played a lot on my old RCA turntable as I wrenched on my '47 H-D Knucklehead chopper.
This is king tone, baby. Music from my youth. The Verve record label was the best thing to happen to music during the 1960s. Kids today need to listen to this. This music is life -- truth.
In 9165-66, they wre as polpular as any other group (except the beatles) in NYC area appearing in many Greenwhich Village clubs with 3 outstanding albums. They faded due to lack of musical direction and the failure to come up with succeeding high quality material. Talent wise however, they were the best. Danny Kalb still performs and Al kooper is a legend too as he played on Dylan's Highway 61 revisited album , get live at the cafe au go go to hear them at their original best.

One of the defining moments in the early stages of modern rock and roll. And a bleep-load better than most of what came after in the 80s, 90s and oh-hos!
@johnnynoirman Al Kooper is a fatstic organ player. Check him out on Blood Sweat and Tears first album as well as Super Session, Kooper Session, Kooper Bloomfield and of course in the infamous Bob Dylan electric band. Kooper is a fine songwriter as well and is still active in the New York music scene.
