I really love Gitlis' playing, but I was drawn away from him because he will stop using his beautiful vibrato on random notes. His vibrato is very sporadic.
Gitlis was a singular and special artist without equal in his playing style - free and unaffected and without pretense of any sort. A truly exceptional musician. We shall never hear anyone play like this again.
In his later years, I was not so impressed with him. He stopped practicing in his forties- my teacher knew him personally. But SO VERY TRUE, in his youth, he had NO EQUAL- I only wish he had toured more, making more recordings for me to listen too. Just, beyond words was his playing. I would pay double, no triple... heck, more than that for any recordings of his I could pick up. You don't ever see him in Borders or even Tower Records- but I would pay a lot to see/hear him more.
OMG, just so you know, I'm a professional violinist. I have solo performances of the Beethoven, Brahams, and all the Mozart concerti with Utah Symphony, Florida etc.
Gitlis IS a lot better than Joshua Bell (whom I am a large fan of.) I have thousands of violin recordings, and Ivry Gitlis has no equal.
So much DRAMA, and SENSITIVITY!!! He has a HEART!!!
if you've seen the art of the violin they explain Heifetz's tone govibe. Basically he used an exceptionally fast bow speed and in a hall, his sound was amazing. But what u hear is what he requested be done with the mic, which was stick it right up close so you can hear all of the JIT sound, not what people at his concerts could hear which was amazing.
Well, I like Gitlis but not that much. He tends to scratch a lot and plays with a sort of pompousness that is sometimes callous and insensitive to the music. Still, his playing was unique and most often enjoyable.
Yeah you are right, he is a lot more imaginative. Just that his style is a bit harsh and overly aggressive sometimes. And if you could read more than one sentence at a time without falling asleep, you'd know that I only like Joshua Bell's old recordings, before Gingold was alive. Bell's latest stuff is not very good and I criticize him a lot.
No, but I notice that you are a troll and a loser in general. Not a single person on Youtube gives a fuck about you because you are an idiot and have nothing good to say about anything. You have nothing good to say because are just a presumptuous little brat and don't use that miniature little brain between your ears. But then again, I'm sure you knew that already.
no matter if you like it or not, gitlis ALWAYS brings such tremendous spirit to what he plays...and that alone is worth a lot =)
