wow this is still up after 4 years. just to clear things up, I had a some special edition of Ocean Avenue and this video was on it. The description said it was previously unreleased, THE VIDEO, not the song. Still dig this song though.
That's Warren Cooke still on bass. This was on the underdog EP which was in between One for the kids and Ocean avenue. Ryan actually started writing proper songs that appeal to people (especially me) by Ocean avenue. He used to write all aggressively and unconventionally. Is Ben Harper wearing glasses? He needed a haircut bad! This sounds so much like somthing from 1 for the kids. It doesn't have that quality from their later stuff.
One for the kids was an awful album. Nearly all songs except for rough draft and sureshot. The songwriting was horrible and the songs just did not fit together. There were no pop hooks or any melodic parts. I think Midget tossing was probably more rhythmical that it! Now Paper walls is their pinnacle and Ryan is awesome songwriter. Prob my 3rd fav after Tom Delonge and Sting.
me gusta este video, la primera vez q lo vi fue en casa de mi tia cuando ella me regalo el disco. Debo decir q me encanto desde el mismo momento en q lo vi, tanto q lo vi hasta 7 veces una misma tarde XD
yea, in addition to GerntLogic's comment. the former singer was called Ben dobson, and during his stay with the band, it was a punk rock/screamo group
The song is from their Underdogs EP, but the video was filmed and released on a Deluxe Edition of the Ocean Avenue album. Sorta funny finding this on YouTube. :]
The bassist and guitarist (one with the glasses) were both former members of the band.
Ryan Key (the vocalist) was actually not an original member of Yellowcard. Not a lot of people know that. But LP and Sean Mackin have always been there. :]
Who is the dude with the long blonde hair on the right playing the guitar? that dude is dope lol and i don't see him in any of the new yellowcard vids
This is a really good song, and no offence to all the L+S lovers, Its not that great, I don't listen to most of that album, maybe a couple but that's it. I enjoy YC and all their songs but L+S was a downfall, Paperwalls was an okay cd, but Like what everyone said, It's really not the same without Ben and alex, or even pete. I'm down for their oldschool songs, not their new ones, It just doesn't have the right feel all the time. But props to this video, it's awesome and I love it :)
Actually at the time I uploaded this video, it was just to see if I could even upload a video to Youtube at all. Then, I had basically run Ocean Avenue thru it's course and I didn't really see anything special in Lights and Sounds. But now I'm kinda getting back into it along with Paper Walls. Things change you know?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Yeah, they totally screwed up with the Lights and Sounds album. They lost a lot of fans with that album, they even said so themselves. Ryan was all like..ooooooooh we may lose some but we will gain much more. Which never happened. So now they are back to their old style of music from Ocean Avenue mixed in with some Lights and Sounds, and they are slowly getting their fans back.
Actualy I didn't think Lights and Sounds was that bad. I've pretty much liked all of their four most recent albums (One For the Kids, Ocean Avenue, Lights and Sounds and Paper Walls) and would love to get ahold of the first two and EPs...then again I'm a diehard YC fan
I agree I actually thought Lights and Sounds was a pretty good album but I really love all of Yellowcard's work too XD Paper Walls is an awesome cd by the way and I have the Underdog EP.
I love this song OMG I was sitting in a room with a lot of people I didn't know and I started singing "there's power in the powder, thre's power in the powder" and everyone stopped and looked at me like I was crazy. It was hilarious!!!!! : )
No, its definatly the same, there is just another guy standing in his place. Mendez is flippin awesome, and if Ben is gonna be to good for Yellowcard then who cares about him
wow this is still up after 4 years. just to clear things up, I had a some special edition of Ocean Avenue and this video was on it. The description said it was previously unreleased, THE VIDEO, not the song. Still dig this song though.
