Was this video intended as a joke? Not only is his artwork extremely amatuerish, he manages to dispense bad advice along the way. I wouldn't even hang that sketch on my refrigerator if he were my 5 year old son.
ocelott22 and steel01 are actually correcy..learn anatomy..literally yesterday i studied muscle anatomy and then after few minutes i become a amazing drawer somehow :D
Yea I thought this was bad to, I'm 15 and it's like I can definitely sketch out a character better. Where's the looseness? He talks about endless possibilities and then draws the most mundane figure ever!
@AlexPanacro I agree but what about learning anatomy from magazines. My brother became really good at drawing the human figure from magazines. I'll try it too because books are rather expensive.
Man....your fucking stiff!! loosen up! sketching involves being loose and fluid. You didnt mention that. I also suggest some life drawing classes! You have no business telling people how to "sketch" ....because you can't.
I appreciate the effort he has made. BUT! Do not listen, like others have said. Learn anatomy first, think about gesture and proportion. Once you learn your anatomy, then you can begin to stretch it and make BELIEVABLE characters.
Note.. I always start with the gesture line first... but thats just me.
why would you make a tutorial video if you are not even that good? i mean i understand its a "sketch" but still teh anatomy is way off and its a simple sketch.
whew. talk about the wrong stuff lol learn anatomy first kiddies. even for cartoony art as opposed to comic book art, the knowledge of anatomy is a must. i wouldn't recommend starting a sketch this way, i'm sorry. i don't mean to be a jerk, but this is wrong. anyone who wants to do it the right way, rent or buy "HOW TO DRAW COMICS THE MARVEL WAY" that'll get you to a good start.
uhmmm yeah I don't really think that's a good tutorial for beginners it is to hard for beginners that is why they should start off by sketching and sketching then I would recommend that book
I agree with you 100% - this is not the way to start drawing people. Start with a circle, use the guidelines... etc. I'm surprised to not find ONE single video on youtube that teaches the base fundamentals. Go buy that book and use that instead of these advanced videos or your drawings will never achieve the success you want them to.
@ocelott22 I agree, this is not the way to begin to learn how to draw. His proportions are off, the anatomy is terrible, and the perspective is wrong. Learn anatomy and gesture drawing first.
@fadugleman pretty sure you can find it everywhere. i believe this book's from the 70's. but it's one of the best and easy to follow books out there. besides this, get some real anatomy books as well. I recommend looking up Andrew Loomis' books.
Thank you so much for the artistic energy and talent you shared. No doubt, you are passionate about what you do. I appreciate the desire you expressed to help others in finding their 'line' of creativity!
all you can do is show them you drawing and if they already had techneques and experiance and the search for teckneques in your drawing they can learn.
mainly also drawing skill depends on the person. somepeople are natural good at drawing there first time and others have no possibuility of learning ever
just an opinion
also if you watch a pro they will make it look easy and if your a beginner chances are you wont learn at all.
wow u r amazing!!! keep it up!!! i am trying to be an artist when im a little older, but so far the closest to people admiring my art is the picture i drew for my boyfriend... he cares tho :)

Amazing how such a high percentage of people drawing on YouTube are Lefties. I'd bet it's WAY higher than the ratio in Gen Pop.
