what a beautiful tribute. i consider fritz scholder one of the finest contemporary artists of the last century. i'm privileged to work at the institute of american indian arts museum in santa fe where one of the largest scholder exhibitions ever mounted is currently on display. amazing.
I was an art student in Colorado when I first viewed his work, he opened my eyes in so many ways. I was lucky to shake his hand once...His touch is not forgoten.

To me Fritz and Alan Hauser were the Picassos of Southwest art...their genius was not however limited to one genre...thanks for the comment!

I met him in Santa Fe once. He inspired a lot of young artists. What a great painter.
