(Dawkins liberalism is well known.) so now you move to philosophy.
@SkateYasha and there are laws in just about everything you can imagine, that suggests that humans in general are not capable of making the right moral decisions to benefit the whole, so i see no reason to believe that evolution is responsible for human morality, the higher moral values for the benefit of humans came from ancient civilizations, the first law givers , and they were all religious. who claim a higher consciousness.
@SkateYasha so are you saying that people in general make the decisions about what is a benefit to human morality, because of evolution, well usually it's nations leaders who set laws for moral guidance, people just obey the laws and eventually these laws appear natural, like i said in an earlier comment, laws were born out of ancient civilizations, and they were all religious, most of the laws you abide by came from a religious origin. laws were made because of lack of moral responsibility.
@SkateYasha i removed my comment because of some spelling mistakes, but also i felt it was a emotional private girly reason rather than a philosophical or reasonable reason to be in God, it just showed weakness rather than reason lol
@SkateYasha i said that i didn't believe morality was subjective, people are bound to either the right decision or wrong decision, there is no half right or half wrong, there is no way for anyone to get out of the consequences of the outcome, because always the wrong moral decision will always have a negative affect, and right decision a positive affect, so morals in my opinion are not subjective, the fact that this happens in my opinion goes beyond evolution.
I've now converted to Teapotism. Death to all Ateapotists! Death also to those heretical Teapotists who say that the Holy Teapot only orbits Pluto, instead of sitting on its hallowed surface. And double death to those misguided preachers who say the Holy Teapot pours only Camomile, and not the life giving Holy Oolong. And a thousand deaths to those heathens who put the milk in the cup first!
@mandolinic :P I like the " And double death to those misguided preachers who say the Holy Teapot pours only Camomile, and not the life giving Holy Oolong."
@SkateYasha you think that morality evolved? well most laws were born out of ancient civilizations, and they were all religious, fundamentally these laws are similar, we are not left to our own subjective morality in a sense that evolution provided. whether you believe it or not, most of the moral decisions you make are influenced by ancient religious beliefs, but it would take a lot of your time and study to realize that.
@aaugoaa I don't think. I know beyond reasonable doubt. Because morality IS subjective, even today. For instance, a certain group of individuals thinks being a homosexual is actually morally wrong. And another group thinks there's nothing morally wrong about it. This is a simple base example to prove it is subjective. To assert it is objective would mean that one of these sides is absolutely right. The winner writes the history books.
Also, the evolution of morality is a very interesting study
@ThinkAbout1t i think you are wrong about morality being subjective, it doesn't matter how many people differ in opinion about what morality is, the fact is the wrong moral decision has a negative affect on you and others around you, and the right moral decision has a positive effect on you and others, so only the decision you make is subjective.
@SkateYasha are you the guy on this video?....you look like him, anyway, are you serious? comparing God to a tea pot, i know you are not lol.
even if there was no God, and it was just a philosophy, no after life, no nothing, it wouldn't make any difference to me, i would still stick with it, why? take all the bad away from any spiritual text and just follow the good in it, and you have more than enough reason to want it, but there is a catch baby, you have to try it first to know that :0)
@aaugoaa apart from when you read the dogmatic texts you find out there pretty much isn't much good to texts apart from the Jesus bits... but even that is questionable and of lower morality then societies today actually are capable of. The reason why a tea pot (this I believe is a play on Russell's Tea Pot) and god are comparable is the claim of their existence. Numbers are irrelevant here, what is relevant is that both claims have equal evidence, which is none.
Does he really think Atheism is something new? Admittedly, yes, we have a lot more Atheists today than we did 400-some years ago, but the only reason for that is we aren't killing them anymore.
@SamusX10 So you are pretty much condoning violence here? The reason actually more lays in a shift of power, the reason Atheists were stopped being killed was the growing power of the scientific community and the colonization of the Americas. Many atheists were able to go to USA and set-up something different to the oppression/dark ages Europe was under. These people are called the founding fathers, in Europe itself the enlightenment made science more important then religion.
the fact has pretty much always been, the most scientific communities are the most successful, the oppression of religion crumbs slow but surely, even the middle-east sooner or later will see a similar event, an enlightenment that causes Islam to lose it's power, in some respects, in some areas it's already beginning as Muslims are going to other countries and many loosing their faith and returning, only praying because they have to (with all Abrahamic religions commanding death to apostates)
@DoomsdayR3sistance Condoning violence? When I said 'Touchdown Christianity', it was sarcasm. I was laughing at the fact that Atheism is seen as a 'new phenomenon', when in fact it's nothing new at all. The only reason it's seen as new is that Atheists aren't being killed as heretics, at least not everywhere.
I didn't know there were people who didn't understand Russell's teapot... gee, humanity really is falling from grace... Or how did they say it? That's not how it went ;)

though if he continues with you and tries to jump to the bible you can alway point him to Underlings's Video, then again that might back his fear of athiest trying to convert him!
oh well it may make another great video topic! Stupid can be entertaining!
@TruthfulChristian2 oh the "ShockOfGod" syndrome strikes again... have u been paying attention? nobody needs to prove a negative, and atheism is not a claim of existence, it is a DISBELIEVE of theistics claims, so there is no need to prove that "atheism is acurate and correct" any more than there is to disprove there is a teacup on Pluto, or that there is an "invisible pink unicorn" is standing right behind you. The burden of proof is on the claim, and atheism is a disbelieve, not a claim. Peace
@TruthfulChristian2 The lack of evidence, lies, pedophiles is all i need to NOT believe in your fairy tale, so why do we need to proove you wrong if you cannot even proove yourself right? let me remind you that unbelievers were burned in the dark ages and religion is the one who started knocking in our doors.
Therefore, it is up to the person making the claim for the existence of a God to provide the proof of said God.
Just as if I said "I have a million dollars in my trunk", you would want proof of it. How would you react if I were to say to you "prove I do not have a million dollars"?
@TruthfulChristian2 As others have said, atheism isn't a claim to prove accurate or correct. Atheism isn't the claimant, or making a statement. It simply means to disbelieve in a claim. In fact, you are an atheist. I know this may surprise you, but you are in fact an atheist. You are atheistic towards the Roman Pantheon. You do not believe the claims that the Roman Pantheon exists. Now, do you have to prove they don't exist, or do they have to prove to you that they do exist?
@ThinkAbout1t " To explain the unknown by the known is a logical procedure, to explain the known by the unknown is a form of theological lunacy ". i'v noticed a pattern with all religious people, they'r completely CRACKERS!!! all the athiests iv ever met have been very clever, rational people. why is it that the creationists have normal common sense with every day things and are fairly rational, but when it comes to religion, its like they have magic blinds over their eyes and are hipnotized
@randomuser54321 Attachment, people want answers to things there are no logical answers for, and so people get attached to world views that are not logical to fill those gaps. Essentially then they can feel that the gaps in knowledge is simply god did. It's not just a debate tactic, they actually do believe pretty much everything we don't know how it occurred is the result of god and this gives them a world view that they get attached too, breaking that world view is extremely hard once set.
If you "disbelieve in a claim" and say that out loud voice, you are making a statement.
Also, athesist means one thing, namely that one person believes that there is no God, so an theist may not be atheist, just as an atheist may not be a theist.
@VyckRo Nope. Just like amoral isn't the same as immoral. Immoral means to do things opposite of the accepted morality. Amoral is simply not to accept the claims of what are generally moral, as moral.
Atheism vs. Anti-theism. Anti-theism is the belief a god doesn't exist. Atheism is the disbelief a god does exist. The two statements seem similar, but aren't. I can tell English isn't your first language, but you should really try and examine the difference between the two.
@TruthfulChristian2 What proof do you have that Christianity is accurate and correct, and that Islam isn't? Or Judaism isn't? Or Greek mythology? Etc? All have/had hundreds of millions ( and billions on occasion,) of followers. Why is your belief more likely then theirs? And why is your belief more likely then that of atheism? Atheism doesn't require any proof. It is far more LIKELY to be true (logically,) then any other religion. Hence, I'll follow it instead of a religious belief.
Don't you think that wasting your time on the likes of VyckRo only dignifies them with an undeserved response?

Almost all atheists would agree that there is a possibility that a deity exists. They cannot say it's absolutely impossible.
This whole discussion is because this VyckRo character never bothered to look up the definition.
Not all atheists are militant ANTItheists. Jesus Christ! :P

A Christian philosopher once said that to talk to an atheist is like talking to a door!
He was right!
Your atheist mind can not accept the information, that I do not wish to convert anyone!
Therefore I am unwilling, to begin a discussion on God, whit a person that start a discussion only for denying the opponent's arguments.
Therefore in our discussion, I made no argument, about the existence of God.

@TruthfulChristian2 Atheism is not a claim. Theism is a claim.

@ThinkAbout1t " To explain the unknown by the known is a logical procedure, to explain the known by the unknown is a form of theological lunacy ". i'v noticed a pattern with all religious people, they'r completely CRACKERS!!! all the athiests iv ever met have been very clever, rational people. why is it that the creationists have normal common sense with every day things and are fairly rational, but when it comes to religion, its like they have magic blinds over their eyes and are hipnotized
randomuser54321 1 year ago
@randomuser54321 Attachment, people want answers to things there are no logical answers for, and so people get attached to world views that are not logical to fill those gaps. Essentially then they can feel that the gaps in knowledge is simply god did. It's not just a debate tactic, they actually do believe pretty much everything we don't know how it occurred is the result of god and this gives them a world view that they get attached too, breaking that world view is extremely hard once set.

"Truthful Christian" is a contradiction in terms... Just saying.

@ThinkAbout1t

The word atheist comes from the Greek A is a negative, the word is different from the skeptical or agnostic, because of the negative A.
Other Greek words, beginning whit A, show as that Atheist is the person who believes that God does not exist. ( my translation)

@VyckRo, “The word atheist comes from the Greek A is a negative, the word is different from the skeptical or agnostic, because of the negative A.
“Other Greek words, beginning with A, show as that Atheist is the person who believes that God does not exist.”
Show me another English word with a Greek root, in which “a-” applied to it means opposition to, not the mere absence of or negation of.
• “Assymetrical” simply means “not symmetrical,” not “against the concept of symmetry itself.”

Because we all know that agnostic doesn't start with an A right?

(ARGH! “Asymmetrical,” not “Assymetrical”!)

Mark it as spam all you like, but agnostic still begins with an "a".

Seriously, TC. Why don't you come up with something original for once.
That fallacious question has been answered and refuted numerous times. It's getting old.

Brother! The position that he take is false. Because the Christian faith, do not claim that God is part of this world.
Therefore by pretinte a resemblance between God, and an material object is a Loaded question.
The christian religion simply do not makes this resemblance!

@ThinkAbout1t It think the teacup is supposed to be orbiting the Sun between Mars and Jupiter if I remember correctly.

@ThinkAbout1t It reduces much more elegantly though. Keep it; coin it. Teacup on Pluto. God on Pluto. God. Pluto. Very pleasing parallelism.
