BTW, these are not my methods. These methods have been tested and verified in lab and field conditions. We both know that science has never been popular, it's easier to jerk and kick the dog. @Amatiya - I have a copy of the same book that ADT3 is referring to. ISBN-13: 978-1416561439 The 50% rating is about right. I gave Millan a bit higher score because I counted some of the episodes where the owners explicitly said they were happy with the experience, even if there was no lasting change in the dogs behaviour. They were simply managing and controlling it. In cases where he was dealing with aggression, his failure rate was 100%. All of the aggressive dogs were rehomed or put down.

Dog walkers also have no problems with multiple dogs on leash.

About 3 weeks ago you claimed (on the aggression vid) that you got some info from a conspiracy site (truthed). Unlike you, I tend to look at evidence. Even if CM works as hard as you claim, that doesn't prove he understands behaviour. Since +R is actually easier to implement it tends to indicate he doesn't.
What this episode shows is something PR trainers have known forever. 1) Put the behavior on cue 2) control the behavior. Simple. Cesar didn't accomplish anything, it was the bird-dog trainer that takes the success.

@Amatiya - I have a copy of the same book that ADT3 is referring to. ISBN-13: 978-1416561439 The 50% rating is about right. I gave Millan a bit higher score because I counted some of the episodes where the owners explicitly said they were happy with the experience, even if there was no lasting change in the dogs behaviour. They were simply managing and controlling it. In cases where he was dealing with aggression, his failure rate was 100%. All of the aggressive dogs were rehomed or put down.

@BeowoofOmega - I said following without a leash. Observing dogs in a park is a good way to observe how dogs interact. It also proves that normal dogs interact with each other with no indication of any trying to dominate or become an uber pack leader. Neither a hit nor a touch are needed to effectively teach a dog but the difference is in the force applied. Millan hits them hard enuff to physically re-orient them. Dog walkers also have no problems with multiple dogs on leash.

@BeowoofOmega - Tell the difference between what - a hit or a kick? All you need to walk a group of dogs is to be able to walk one of them. The rest will naturally follow along. Dog walkers do this all the time. You can see that same effect in dog parks when the dogs are not even on a leash.

There is no evidence that hollistic treatments are effective with dogs, and no evidence of more than a placebo effect in humans. You are of course right that he doesn't punish dogs for bad behaviour. He punishes to prove to the viewing audience that no dog is too much for him to handle. It's really about him, his macho image and his ego.

@BeowoofOmega - The show is what brought him fame and fortune. As for the center, it wasn't much more than a parking lot with a fence, and there didn't appear to be a helluva lot of shade, although there was some. Messages about spay/neuter do not diminish the harm caused by the show.

The show is what the vast majority of people see, and it is what has made him famous. The fact that he endorses other businesses has nothing to do with the methods he uses on the show, even if the other businesses may happen to be PR trainers. The show is a disservice to dogs and owners and he is a major part of it.

@BeowoofOmega - The suit was not part of the show. It proves nothing, except perhaps, employees are another group of humans Millan couldn't train properly. NDA's are a standard part of business. I've signed quite a few myself. Why do you think you never hear anything directly from his clients, good or bad, unless it's approved by NatGeo. Everybody on the show signs an NDA and release form. NatGeo would be irresponsible not to enforce that. Image makers and lawyers would never permit it.

Millan's methods devalue dogs and humans. it turns dogs into monsters, constantly plotting to take over and aggress you and it demands the human stop thinking and react mindlessly, with force to control the dog.
This is why his methods are not used among working or sport community.. they are useless when you need to train a dog to do something.

@BeowoofOmega - I find PR to easier because it encourages me to think things through, and be more critical of what I'm thinking and doing. Contrast this with Millan's advice to "don't think, just react". He actively advises people to not use the best and most powerful tool they have available.

About 3 weeks ago you claimed (on the aggression vid) that you got some info from a conspiracy site (truthed). Unlike you, I tend to look at evidence. Even if CM works as hard as you claim, that doesn't prove he understands behaviour. Since +R is actually easier to implement it tends to indicate he doesn't.

What this episode shows is something PR trainers have known forever. 1) Put the behavior on cue 2) control the behavior. Simple. Cesar didn't accomplish anything, it was the bird-dog trainer that takes the success.

@BeowoofOmega - In the episode, Cesar didn't accomplish anything himself. He did call in a PR trainer to work with the dog which was a good move on his part, but it would've been better with behaviour specialist. NatGeo should've used that format for more episodes - showcase for various methods.
As for debunking, you really haven't provided any evidence to debunk, nor have you even come close to proving that science has it wrong. Results speak for themselves. Search YT for clicker training

@Fredrinski - Millan is famous because of a TV production company, similar to Batman. It it wasn't for NatGeo, Millan would just be another dog trainer, barely distinguishable from any other. Probably successful enough to make a living, but certainly not the fame and fortune that TV brought him. We don't know what the actual owners think. Good or bad, the owners would be contractually forbidden to discuss it. NatGeo would not allow anything to affect the image they created.

he achieved the outcome of the dog not wanting to kill the chicken, and made the dog understand to leave the chicken alone, and he did it without yelling, kicking the dog, or hitting it. i don't see where abuse figures into this
