  • @Tbabymarley

    Thanks for your comment.

    Brian / FGS

  • Mine looks exactly like yours... so weird

  • @maheinicke

That's great, have fun with him.

    Brian / FGS

  • I use the same technique with my 3 yr. old red tegu (Vorenus) It works, he's always curious and comes to say hello and get scrubs when one of us opens the cage. On the down side he has a limit to how long he's willing to be held, anywhere from 5-15 min., then he does a hellacious alligator roll! Might be my fault for making him such a nice cage. Keep up the good work with your boy...and the kids!

  • @braviart

Good luck with your red and thanks for your comment.

    Brian / FGS

  • I kind of did that with my ball python. He used to be really head shy when I got him, so I'd gently hold his head in a non-threatening manner against his will, and release him when his squirming stopped. Now he doesn't mind being pet on the head and if you hold his head to look at him or let people pet him (who are scared) or whatever, he just waits and resumes movement when released.

  • @LeilaMeat

    Great job.

    Brian / FGS

  • which ones are meant to be the aggressive ones usually? is it the red ones? and the black n white ones are more docile? or the other way round. I wanna get one but dont wanna end up with an aggressive maniac and ive heard a lot of em are but it depends which type and which country theyre from (argentina/columbia)

  • @MrElliotGear

I only have experience with black and whites, mine is dog tame.

    Brian / FGS

  • @MrElliotGear argentine reds and argentine black and whites are both very tamable usually dog tame from the start , columbians are the ones that are so called agressive but my friend had 2 columbians the 1 was very docile the other was in between

  • he's looks like a jolly fatman :] haha

  • is he an Argentine or Colombian?

  • @zaraki11thkenpachi

    He is an Argentine.

    Brian / FGS

  • Is that an argentine black and white?

  • @DrownedInBile

    Yes,

    Brian / FGS

  • @fgs9 How big do these tegus get for males and females?

  • Hey Brian do you remember me it's jeff from stratford i had helped u out last year and wanted a video on buzz and u did the video, just wanted to seee how everything is going, i have a tgeu now

  • @boomxroasted1909

    Hey jeff,

It's great to hear from you.

Congratulations on getting your own tegu.

    Best of luck with him.

    Brian / FGS

  • @fgs9

Thamks very much hes getting bigger now.

Around 2 feet, he's eating like a monster haha he has never bit or trieed to bite anyone so i'm very happy

  • @boomxroasted1909

    Jeff, your monster.

    Brian / FGS

  • @fgs9

brian it's jeff can you make a feeding video of buzz

  • Hey Brian Im lovin that tegu!! quick question tegus are carnivores right? haha I hope I dont sound dunb. But any ways best regards to you your family and hobby.

  • @Elitesnakeprojects

    Tyler,

That is correct, they'll eat anything meat from rats, mice, fish, chicken, and turkey.

Thanks for the well wishes and same to you and your family.

    Brian / FGS

  • This video make me want a tegu :)

  • well buzz still grate tegu i love them there big

i have been into keeping tegu lizards for at least

17 or 18 years. well if he was aggressive when first

got him when said, thats is a sign he was treated badly cruel

or not handled regally. which is most common if tegus are being aggressive

  • also Brian thats why they also are aggressive and not tame as because they dont and dont get handled regally. so thats why Buzz is very tame and friendly because youi have handled him regally.

  • plus brian that can happen or is normal when young they are

aggressive till when they get to 2foot thats the time when they

    come round being friendly.

  • well you wash him well this is a very good i dear brain it works

very well. if you fill up bath tub with warmish water little warmer

than fish tank same level as knees and leave buzz in there for 40-minutes

that promotes skin sheadding or helps it come off better

  • Awesome animal :)

  • Hey Brian... been subed to you for a long time and i live your vids... you seem so nice and caring to your animals... just wondering if you could make some boa videos... like mabe show some of their enclosures and how you handle and care for larger boas... just what it takes to maintain them.

  • @Mattjones2012

    Matt,

I'll see what I can do for you.

    Brian / FGS

  • brian,

can you plz make a video on touring your reptile room, ive been dieing to see it! thanks! jordan.

  • Great video, great advice.

  • @mqbuchanan

    Thanks for your comment.

    Brian / FGS

  • Great video, great advice.

  • Awww, he is so cute. My new Tegu comes next month. I can't wait! I put a down payment on mine last November, so I've been waiting awhile! Getting mine from Bobby Hill from VarnYard Herps. I can't wait! Can you get that kind of relationship with them when they are little, or do they have to mature first?

Anyway, Great video! I love him! You should show him more! Did you get him when he was really little? Did he hibernate this year? Oh and, How much of what do you feed him 3 times a week?

  • @ClassyHerps I have a tegu from varyard, from last year's stock, you absolutely can have this type of relationship from them when they are young. When you first get him he will be very skittish and defensive but it doesn't take long for that to pass. Let me know if you have any other questions

  • @ClassyHerps

    Colin,

    Good luck with your tegu.

    Brian / FGS

  • continued from previous comment. ok so i had jade my red tail boa for about a month and she was nippy at first but after less than a month she was perfectly fine with my holding her and petting her! she does get agressive right after feeding but thats understandable cuz she has a full belly! :)

  • wow! such a beautiful tegu! :) and ur manning statement is so true! my mom and i together have 11 animals the first one we got (bernie our budgie) was just a little baby who had never seen a human and we let him outta his cage for 10hrs of the day so he can get to know our vibes and get to know ohh there not threats they are nice xD its also the same with my red tail boa when i got her she was nippy and agressive and i never got bit but i purservered thru the fear and she in under a month, CONT

  • can you make a video of its cage ....nice lizard !!

  • @tokay999

    Sure thing.

    Brian / FGS

  • Can you show his cage? Is it big? This looks like such a cool pet!

  • @TheGamerOnWii

    Consider it done.

    Brian / FGS

  • Wow ! That's a beautiful reptile !

  • @xGamingLT

    Benus,

    Thanks for your comment.

    Brian / FGS

  • @igotniceballs23

    Nick,

Thanks for the video request. Yeah faloconry has always been a passion of mine.

    Brian / FGS

  • @igotniceballs23

Most people think that snakes are my favorite animal, but to tell the truth dogs are by far my favorite animal.

I hope everything is working out with your pit bull.

    Brian / FGS

  • i tried that with my iguana but every time i would let up a little, he would slip out, whip me with his tail and run under something...then he died...i belive the owner before me knew it had parasites and didnt tell me on purpose...

  • @MyFishies

    Ethan,

Yeah I used to have a couple of iguanas. I gave them to my brother and he got tail whipped all the time. I think that tegus are a much more inteligent lizard than iguanas.

    Brian / FGS

  • i dont really like lizards but i would love to own a tegu one day!:D i just like snakes more but this is like a reptile dog!:D

  • @OG035

Maybe that's why I like this guy so much, because he reminds me so much of a dog. Infact you should see him with my Golden Retreivers, they all get along so well.

    Brian / FGS

  • @fgs9

awesome!:D my dog could never do that!:P can you make a video from your dogs with your tegu?:D i would love to see that!!:D

  • Great video! Hope you do one on your BTS~!

  • @HitomiNoRyu

    Sara,

    Thanks for the request.

    I'll upload one for you..

    Brian / FGS

  • awesme vid i want 1

  • @WoodysReptiles

You should get one, they're only $150 or so.

    Brian / FGS

  • Im going to use this advice with my ornate monitor

  • @carsoncollection

    Markus,

Let me know how it works for you.

    Good luck

    Brian / FGS

  • Really nice video Brian, and some good advice. I think that it is so important to spend time with the more defensive animals in a collection to earn their trust. Thanks for posting.

    Matt(UK)

  • @PlayThething

It's amazing how responsive animals are to agentle touch an soothing voice.

    Brian / FGS

  • @PlayThething

I know that some people would disagree with that logic, but it's always worked with me.

    Thanks for your comment Matt.

    Brian / FGS

  • Awesome video! I feel and probably other viewers are wondering about feeding, cage, supplies etc basically your schedule with him and what you do to care for him. Thank you!

  • @countrystyle4life

I'll shoot a video of the next time I feed him. You will not believe the 180 degree turn in his personality. When this guy gets hungry, he turns into the lizard from hell.

    Brian / FGS

  • Brian, I really want a tegu. I've done 3 months of research and I strongly feel I am ready for the responsibility of one of these beautiful lizards, but I still want to ask you how do you feed your tegu's? What food items should be fed? what is a good feeding schedule? and lastly how to target train the tegu? Thanks

  • @SlimRichmond

I feed him rats and mice about every 3 days or so. Just spend a lot of time with them, the more time you spend with them the more tame they seem to be.

    Brian / FGS

  • Hes a pretty boy! Do you use UVB/UVA lighting for him? Also I want to request a video of ur blue tongue skink!!

  • @94madmike

    Mike,

I have a sky light in my snake room, other than my flourscent lights that's the only lights I have in my snake room.

Yeah I'll shoot a video of the "Ezra" my blue tongued skink, you're the 3rd person who has requested it.

    Brian / FGS

  • Oops! Lol... guess I posted that comment too soon. Just got to the part where you said that this is your only true pet.

  • I heard many great things about Black and White Tegu and have been wanting one for a long time. Lizards are new to me and trying to educate myself as much as possible before purchasing and your videos are always informative and reassuring. Thank you for the great advices as usual.

  • @TMRconstrictors

I'll be the first one to admit that lizards are not my area of experise, but this guy is dure fun to have around.

    Brian / FGS

  • Very cool! Now I know that you are a breeder, but do you actually keep any of your snakes (ball pythons, boas, etc etc) as pets in a terrarium type habitat? If so it would be awesome to see some of them.

  • @sweetaznate

    Nate,

I'm strictly a breeder and I don't have any type of set other than what you see in my snake room.

    Brian / FGS
