I was fortunate to see a rehersal in Vegas once, (and the 2 shows) they did this song only in rehersal; my ultimate favorite and very personal for me. I cried and the tears ran like Niagara Falls! I had Dork on my forhead but I did not care. This woman rocks!
This song really creates a germane ambience with regard to the lyrics & successfully juxtaposes the paradoxical oxymoron of love & loss. A snapshot of undesired independence...the sheer EMPTINESS of freedom gone awry.
A song on the Tropico album called "Outlaw Blues", if memory serves, was also a fantastic song. It was utterly ruined subsequently, however, by supplanting a key instrument with a horrible synthesizer track. Ick..completely ruined the song :\

This is in my opinion one of the strongest Benatar vocals, and Neil Giraldo's guitar is perfect and desert hot. Why this wasn't a bigger smash is a mystery.
Thanks sooo much for posting this video! I've been waiting forever! I'm too technically lame to do it myself. This is one my fav Benatar songs, her voice is just amazing in this!
Love the song - but love to see somebody redo the video, take scenes from "Hills has Eyes" from a Wes Craven Film, or "Mad Max" or even some other series like "Xena, Warrior Princess."
I've always liked this song by them, but the video does a poor job of effectively communicating it in my opinion. Another studio job no doubt; no wonder they didn't get along with them.
Great song i always loved this track even in the old Rock days when it wasn't cool to listed to love songs !

One of my local radio stations plays Pat Benatar music all the time, but they never play this one or Le Bel Age, which is disappointing.
