It was the first song from Kraftwerk that I heard when I was a child and I liked it, but I didn't know who was the artist. A few years later I realized that the Kraftwerk was :-) This is an amazing track and my favourite song (and video) from Kraftwerk! It brings up great memories...
There was also a project called 10 Speed that did a version of Tour De France -- that was the version featured in the movie Breakin... cool track!!!!!
i really never knew who they were intill maybe a few months ago. Also, I watched the movie "Breakin' " when i was real young and never even knew this was Kraftwerk!! :D
I remember back in the day in my hometown when NO ONE was playing them... EXCEPT on Black Radio. Back in the day Kraftwerk was ONLY found on WDAS, POWER 99.FM. The only 2 urban station in the city. For the longest time my friends & I thought they were black... until we picked up the Computer World album cover & was greatly proven wrong. Once we found out that they were white & FROM GERMANY of all places... they became even COOLER!
Amazing video, I've been a big Kraftwerk fan since early 80's. All 4 look like clones with each one wearing the same suits, helmets and riding similar bikes. I like to see smooth surface roads shown here in the town I live at, I can assure you as a bike rider, with a racer & wheels less than an inch thick, you hit any pot hole, no matter how deep, is like hitting your wheels with a sledge hammer. I've had no end of "pinch punchers" as a result. UK roads get worse every day, it sucks big time!!
The shape of those bars are closer to track drops than modern road drops. I'm so jealous. Those things are super expensive now. Word to electro and cycling.
@bobbygnosis i agree but at a shop in my town i got a whole vintage road bike with track drops for £90 just scout around 2nd hand shops and the internet to find good deals like i did
To be honest, I was disappointed when I first saw the Tour de France video you normally see. It seems a bit wishy-washy and poorly structured. This one is much much better.
Wow, I've seen this only once and now I'm seeing it again 20 plus years later. I used to skip school and breakdance to this music with the rest of my friends hahaha...thanks for the memories.
@DjElektus WOW!!! Amazing! This is something special here indeed! I'm with JES1068 on this, that along with this video, ( which this is the first time I've ever seen or heard of it???) even this version/remix on wax or CD (and there seem to be a gazillion versions of this CLASSIC floating around, lol) is indeed hard to find. At least it was for me back in the day. Much props and many thanks for posting!!! PEEESE!
Ha Ha!! This was my perfect"breakdancing"song!!...Also,this takes me back to my childhood, back in '83'.My friends and I used to ride our 10-speed bikes to this, all around Thomasville,North Carolina...I miss those days...
?? dance? mmm it´s experimental. the only band I love like Kraftwerk actually, is one hiting strong in Italy. Search SWAVE IN THE FUTURE. is very different
I used to do an egg flip to this combined with my robotic moves. wearing white gloves and a white construction helmet. it looked crazy but it was 1983 at school. they all loved it!!!
Yes, as 1986abc pointed out, this video also uses a slightly remixed version of the track (Kevorkian Mix or something?) -- which, personally, I prefer.
If only this would have been on the "Techno Pop" album before Ralf's freak accident. Then Wolfgang and Karl wouldn't have left after Electric Cafe. :(
I think it's better than the better known version because in this video the KW members are involved.
I remember a part in Wolfang Flür's book where he talks about the hobby especially of Ralf Hütter and that it was his idea to ride bicycles and produce "Tour the France". And Flür said that he actually never liked riding bicycles. I understand him, I don't like it much either. ;)
Sometimes the Queen of Saba goes to the toilet. And sometimes a Kraftwerk member smiles.
