  • Jesus calls all of us to be humble..only the priest portrayed this value not these two arrogant people who thinks they know everything by quoting and quoting

  • These reformist are trapped in their own desires and beliefs that they refuse to listen outside the box..so sad..

  • dont forget bro that Catholics made the Bible through the intercesion of the Holy Spirit..which your reformist made their own notions and beliefs to justify their acts so to make life easy...Catholicism is founded by Jesus Christ our Lord Himself..these disrespectful people are the once who are pointless and scared...Obviously The Catholics is The Church God founded..Yes we Catholics are what the Lord Jesus Christ meant that we will be persecuted for Him...We are the fullness of Christianity.

  • Boy oh boy, are there some simple kool-aid-drinking minds on this blog. The pot-kettle-black predicament is very prevalent. And then, what do they do? Ad hominem attacks. Sad, very sad.

Dr Martin is as clear as glass, but the common catholic is so indoctrinated that they have every excuse not to believe what he says. The bottom line????

    John 3:16, 14:6, Romans 10:9

It is plainly obvious no savior would EVER have the requirements that the RCC has. He made it very simple...

    BELIEVE

  • It's supposed to be a debate... so biased

  • I bet Fr. Pacwa knows twice as much as Walter and the host wont let him talk.

  • @TheMrmurcielagolp640 - "I bet Fr. Pacwa knows twice as much..."

I doubt it...the good Dr died a long time ago, and has been with Christ ever since. Obviously you feel like catholics are being persecuted. Doesn't matter if you are catholic, mormon, or a witness.....Christians still need to spread the gospel to them also.

Straight is the gate and WIDE is the way.......

  • Oh GOSH, can't the host just let the priest talk? the problems with protestants is they do not want to listen attentively to the truth and yet they want to be listened to.

  • @judithapio protestants' loss

  • @TheMrmurcielagolp640 - "protestants' loss"

Uhhhhmmmm....we're Christians. Nice try at attempting to attach a negative connotation to the Lord's sheep. I suggest a nice Bible class.....that is, if you believe and follow the Bible. God doesn't make mistakes.

  • these people are so blatantly bias against the Catholic teaching why does this priest even bother he cast pearls before swine, these assholes hardly give him time to answer and obviously cross question in the manner of interrogators in order to confuse, the audience is only there to watch a spectacle and the priest is doing injustice to Catholocism just by participating.

  • Everyone in Purgatory HAS the assurance of salvation. That's the point, idiots.

  • Saint Paul warn us

And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that you might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another. 1 Corinthians 4:6

and if you believe that "Mary is Mother of God" is very blasphemy

    Please read in Psalm 90:2

Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

  • @psalm1992 I really have to pray for someone like you. You are totally ignorant of what the Catholic Church has always taught. Mary is not the mother of the Trinity. She is the God-bearer (Theo-tokos). She bore the incarnate God. If you are a Christian, you are compelled to believe that Mary gave birth to the God-man Jesus Christ. She is therefore the Mother of God. Please, for goodness sake, do a little research on the Council of Ephesus. Jeez. I pray that you wake the hell up.

  • it kills me how ignorant people can be. if the bible says that The Lord (Jesus) is in heaven, then says that "to be absent from the body- dead- is the be present with the lord ( who is in heaven), YOU DON'T GO TO PURGATORY! saying you go to purgatory when you die is calling god a liar. i think Catholicism is blindly ignorant

  • It shows who has more humility in debates.

  • In this video, from the beggining, this protestant is "talking" until minute 4.20, the host lets FtPacwa talk, one minuto later, the host is shutting him and giving the talk againg to the protestant.... predjudices.. those people don´t want to hear the truth because they will be confronted with the truth, they just want to "look" smart or biblical... satan is "biblical" too,,, when satan test Jesus in the desert.THinking you are biblical and quoting scripture doesn´t mean you hold TRUTH

  • Souls in Purgatory ARE saved!!!

Protestants erroneously think that believing in purgatory means one doubts his salvation.

  • @a2j93 and where exactly in the BIBLE was purgatory mentioned

  • @a2j93 and where exactly in the BIBLE was purgatory mentioned

  • hahaha the host is scared because he is being proven wrong thats why he interupts Fr. Pacwa and gives Martin more time than Pacwa in the entire debate. Two on one, and the priest still schools them. And whats with the name Catholicism vs Christianity, how about Catholic Christianity vs Heretical Christianity. God Bless.

  • @yixxt - Please explain?

  • In all fairness, when I tune into EWTN I'm not tuning into hearing about what Protestants believe. I'm looking to hear what my Church teaches. I became Catholic because I want to know what that Catholic Church teaches.

  • protestants are so ignorant. its says in the bible to work out your salvation with fear and trembling. they say IM SAVED im for heaven. satan has decieved use be careful. pick up your cross every day not once and for all salvation. come home to the fillness of the truth that can only be found in the roman catholic church. rome sweet home. god bless. our lady queen of peace pray for us.

  • the Priest is wayyyy to smart for them

  • Jesus said on the cross, "It Is Finished!"His death was suffcient, His blood alone. I can not contribute anything to his finished work. I will put my trust and faith in the work of Chrtist. To say we have to add anything to His paymewnt for our sins is to deny his work and say it was not enough.

  • @MrBatch73 Quick question, Jesus indeed did say, "It is finished," which means only by His Blood is the work of salvation finished, Jesus made salvation possible, He is the Lamb of God, and by His Blood only sins can be forgiven. This does not mean just by saying "I believe in Jesus" and thats all to go to heaven. Matt. 7:21 makes it clear this isnt enough. In the OT a lamb was sacrificed by a sinner and a priest and then sins were forgiven. Jesus is the Lamb that we have sins forgiven eternally

  • @MrBatch73 when Jesus said it is finished, he meant the gates of Heaven were now open, Jesus saved us from hell, not purgatory, purgatory is Gods mercy, Thou also by the blood of thy testament hast sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit, wherein is no water.(Zech 9"11)

  • Can this show be anymore unfair toward the priest? The protestant gets 90% of the show to talk and pull out tons of quotes out of every period of time without providing the context. Then the priest gets about 5 minutes to patch up 2 of the 20 misunderstandings of the protestant.

P.S. I've never seen a more condescending debate.

  • Walter is monday night quarter backing! Where we're the protestants while we we're ironing out lofty spiritual subjects long before the deformation?

  • @Snotra We were being killed by your church for seeking truth!

  • I really do hope you people watched the movie "Luther" (2003). You if you haven't then please do, you will see that the Catholic church earned so much money from the teaching of purgatory. Honestly, even until now they do. Just like my former Philosophy teacher, who incidentally was also a priest, said, "Catholicism is business".

  • @Eutherion .I WILL ASK YOU...WHO PRODUCE THE MOVIE? ONCE YOU KNOW IT, WHAT DO YOU THINK? (i hope you're intelligent enough what i really mean)

  • The Dr. argues that Catholics do not know they are saved if they go to purgatory.

He does not understand Catholicism correctly. If you go to have your sins purged by God's fire (Purgatory), you are already justified (saved). Catholics know that they everyone in Purgatory will enjoy eternity with God.

The Dr. is wrong in saying that Catholics do not know that they are saved if they go to Purgatory.

  • Where in scripture coes it say about purgatory? I've read all of the Bible, but I have not come across it. And that parable about the man in prison until he pays the last penny is about forgiving and not being angry with your brother, not purgatory. God bless.

  • @apopyalips The joke is on you my gullible friend. You've been tricked by the false doctrines of man. Calvin and Luther had nothing to do with what Christ and his Apostles taught. I guess you think that the first generation of Christians were not Christians because they didn't have a New Testament.

  • Did Jesus not connect sanctification with entering the kingdom? I tend to think that all of humanity is in purgatory presently - and that eventually all of humanity will enter heaven - which will be created in this solar system. Obeying the church, attending church, taking the sacraments, paying tithe, buying indulgences, praying for dead relatives, etc - will not get anyone into heaven. The church should not be Salvation4Sale. This mess needs to be cleaned up - NOW.

  • it is biased, i agree, whats the host doing in the discussion? the priest did a good job though ROCK ON!!!

  • These two seem to like to debate each other quite frequently lol. There is something about your videos I dont like, however. It says Catholic versus Christian on every single one of the videos. To be Christian means to believe Jesus is the son of God and the Messiah; we as Catholics believe this. The term was first used in Antioch when Herod Agrippa 2 replied to Paul the apostle and said,"Do you think in such a short time you can make me a Christian." Maybe you could change your title to rest of

  • ebolingUtube: "Dr Walter Martin's church started in 1517" -ARE U STUPID?? Can you read?? The reformation started 1517. The church itself were founded by Christ, NOT the catholic church! Have you read the Bible? Do you accept the Bible to be ABSOLUT TRUTH? You catholic people TWIST the word of God AND you ADD doctrins. Furthermore, you have CHANGED the word of God to FIT your adolatry: Were is the second commandment?? In you catheches - it´s GONE!

  • @avilakaj Your correct ! Only you got it backwards, you are the ones who twist not us Catholics.

  • @avilakaj WHAT ! The Catholic Church gave you your Bible. It wasnt until 1,300 years later that Martin Luther decided to change the Bible to suit his personal view. and throw out seven books of the Old Testament. He also added to the Bible the word " alone" to Romans to make it say what he wanted " Faith alone " Revelations 22,18-19 says thats a BIG NO NO Throw away your King James " Version" and buy the correct one at your local Catholic store.

  • @michael61778 The Roman Catholic Church again did not give us our Bibles. For before the Latin Vulgate was the Greek Septuagint and Hebrew scriptures. No one changed what was in the Bible, it was there even in the Vulgate, however it was in Latin therefore only the priests could understand and not the people. How unfair was that? John Wycliffe then decided to translate the Bible for everyone to read it. The apocrypha was removed because it did not agree with the rest of the scriptures.

  • Wonderful to see that dr Walter got more time to speak since he´s got a SOUND doctrine and show clearly that a TRUE christian test his theology against SCRIPTURE, NOT the church´s athority.

  • They definitely gave Dr Walter Martin more time to speak.

  • Ask Oprah about what the bible really says. She claims to be Christian and capable of interpreting the scriptures as well.

Which flavor of 35,000 + denominations of Christians are correct?

Maybe all Christian churches are right? Then why do they all argue about passages? Maybe the Holy Spirit left the Catholic church? The Jesus lied when he said that would not happen. Maybe we should not believe any religion? Again, ask Oprah about that one.

  • They both make good arguments which means we are left with choosing one is true over the other. It does not make sense to me that you can have faith in Jesus as our savior and then live life as you please. Dr Walter Martin's church started in 1517 and was founded by Martin Luther. The Catholic church was founded by Jesus Christ before he was crucified. The bible is clear that the Holy Spirit would be with his church. That clears it up for me. 2000 years or 500 years. Who do you want to follow?

  • @ebolingUtube The Catholic church was established before Christ died? No my friend, I am afraid you are wrong. The Roman Catholic was officially founded in 313 AD when Constantine "legalized" Christianity. I also strongly believe that Jesus and His disciples did NOT keep the Sunday during his stay here on earth. He resurrected on Sunday, but prior to that, He kept the Jewish Sabbath.

  • @Eutherion Re:No my friend, I am afraid you are wrong. The Roman Catholic was officially founded in 313 AD when Constantine "legalized" Christianity.

Well, I disagree with you. Just because they call it something at a specific date does not mean that it is not the same church. The church was an infant until 313AD. It was in the process of growing.

It is the same church that Jesus said it was when he announced to Peter that he must build his church on Peter the Rock.

  • @ebolingUtube

"Let no man do anything connected with the Church without the bishop. Let that be deemed a proper Eucharist, which is [administered] either by the bishop, or by one to whom he has entrusted it. Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude [of the people] also be; even as, wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church."

    Ignatius of Antioch, 110 A.D.

  • @Eutherion Re:when Constantine "legalized" Christianity. (2)

If you can convince the Vatican that it is not the same church, then I will take back my statement. I will also cease to be Catholic.

No offense, I will take the Catholic church's word over your word any day. Catholics believe that RCC church is the same as established by Christ and it has not changed its teachings on faith and morals since.

  • @ebolingUtube I do not want you to cease being Catholic my friend. Believe in what you believe to be the truth and that is what matters. However Constantine officially made it the "Roman" Catholic Church. Visit the Vatican my friend and you will find statues of "Jesus" and his mother dating to even before the Jesus was born. One of these is the statue of Tammuz and his mother. His myth, regrettably, is the origin of the Easter celebration. Many things changed after Constantine.

  • This is pathetic evangelical dribble. Purgatory is NOT FOR UNBELIEVERS. Walter Martin does NOT understand the doctrine and his simplistic questions clearly display that.

  • I notice a lot of comments about the setting and format, however the bottom line is that the Roman church has many completely erroneous doctrines and terribly skewed understanding of theology.

There's no doubt whatsoever that Dr. Walter Martin elaborates the truth articulately.

  • go,go,go,dr.walter martin,he is a christian evangelical faith defender.shalom...

  • What is in the fire to clean that Christ hasn't given by Himself? Again the priest puts in words that exclude Christ. Uplifts fire, grace, works, but not Christ exclusively.

  • I'm Lutheran. I reject Rome's doctrine of justification completely. That said, the show is so skewed against Fr. Pacwa as to be a disgrace. Was Martin only able to argue against Pacwa by not allowing him to speak?

  • They barely even let Fr. Pacwa talk... the freakin host should be as unbiased as possible... NO CHANCE here! lol

  • This is like an extremely hard video game...

  • Just because the Protestant guy looks scary, we should not say the show is bias. If it's the case, there will be no show. Now don't listen to anyone's interputation of the bible, follow Christ, love him completely, don't follow theologies of Churches. Follow the life of Jesus. Pray only to him not to saints. Follow his good examples(not amazing miracles although it's possible with Faith as mention in the Bible). So love Christ alone and follow him instead of anyone, or any organization.

  • Amen to that !

  • Totally biased protestant programing.

  • thats not true.

  • @baredd79 Yes it is a protestant based show. I have watch EWTN when they slam the beliefs and doctrines of the Prostestant Church,, never once have I seen ANYONE invited to bring forth the Prostestant stand. At least here both sides get a chance to bring forth their beliefs. Yes the Host is a Prostestant,, but at least He allowed both sides to be viewed.

  • @jlwohio the Protestant Church, or the Protestant Church(es) 20,000 who gets to pick?

  • @baredd79 and if Martin went on EWTN or any catholic program, it wouldn't be biased AT ALL in ANY WAY, ok I understand.

  • @BrainDamageMugler Should've, could've, would've. Your laying blame on a scenario that never took place. However, by what I see here, Father Mitch is being treated unfairly.

  • the host is completely biased!!! The priest was going to talk and he interrupted him 6:27... he is really rude!!!

  • Your right. It takes 2 jimmy swaggarts to take on 1 priest.

  • @littleflower1458 what's biased about it? I mean they only have a limited time didn't you hear "we were running out of time." this comment wasn't posted to make arguements just trying to explain things. :)

  • @littleflower1458 Manners 101.

  • William Tyndale (1484-1536), argues against the Roman Catholic position of life after death; against Thomas More, he writes:

"And ye, in putting them [the departed souls] in heaven, hell, and purgatory, destroy the arguments wherewith Christ and Paul prove the resurrection...And again, if the souls be in heaven, tell me why they be not in as good case as the angels be? And then what cause is there of the resurrection?" [An Answer to Sir Thomas More's Dialogue, bk 4, ch. 4, pp.180-181]

  • An Agnostic here.

I just want to say that the host was very biased for the protestant (The fat guy in the chair with a hairpiece- pause at 6:02 and see what I mean)

Also if Christians can't sort this stuff out then how will they convince anybody outside Christianity that it is true?

If Christianity is the one true religion, then what version do I follow?

From Wiki - " there are reported to be over 38,000 Christian denominations,"

I mean come on, how many ways can you interpret one book?

  • Follow Christ, do not follow a religion. Jesus Christ came to die for our sins not to set up a religion but rather to set up a RELATIONSHIP between you and him. Go to Christ, follow Christ, Love Christ, Worship ONLY Christ and learn about his life and the word of God.

  • That may be all well and good, but my point still stands that the Catholic priest was set against by the host. Now I don't even like the Catholic church (See my videos! and I'll prove it) but still the debate should have been set on neutral ground to make it fair.

  • I believe the Priest has to correct himself on two things... First, the mention of fire is correct, BUT the fire he may be referring to is the fire baptism which is mentioned in Matthew 3:11. This fire is the presence of God in the last days which matches with 1 Cor 3:13. (Our God is a consuming fire this is the purging, his presence.) Next, Jesus says nothing about being cleansed first before entering the kingdom for he mentioned in John that one must be born again to enter the kingdom of God.

  • The Priest won this debate!

  • you must be joking right.

  • God gave me, a cold-hearted sinner the gift of life. I knew not that I even was a sinner and damned to destruction because of my sins - So I can not claim that my faith is my own - rather it is the gift of God by grace.

  • Truely the holy spirit resides in Dr. Martin--may he rest in peace--he was a strong believer

  • The priest really got owned in this one.

  • Its interesting, but it seems biased.

  • All these catholic comments I see here,Ive never seen people type so much and say so little. Jesus said "I will build my church." Jesus spoke little about the church,He spoke much more of the Kingdom of God. You catholics are going to find out one day hopefully not to late that ROME,MARY,SACRIMENTS etc CANNOT,WILL NEVER SAVE ANYONE. Jesus ALONE saves.

  • Non est lux extra ecclesia romana.

  • Amen

  • But all Catholics already belive Jesus ALONE saves? so if they believe this then they are "saved" according to protestant doctrine "eternal security" of the believer, so what is the big deal and why do you bother what people do who are saved? They are saved so they just like you can now do whatever and believe whatever they like. Once you accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour nothing can take that away. If a Catholic believes in purgatory it makes no difference according to prot doctrine.

  • exactly, so according to Protestant doctrine, so long as Hitler accepted Jesus, it was okay for him to carry out the Holocaust

  • EXACTLY! thank u voice of reason

  • This statement is nonsense. Hitler was a Roman Catholic, the Nazi's and RCC were working together. That's a historic fact.

  • Wrong. His regime started a neo-Pagan movement and persecuted the Church within Nazi borders. Protestantism does not hold him responsible, Catholicism does. There is no other Church than the Catholic Church, which is the only one established by God Himself.

  • Did you really just say the spirit doesnt dwell with Martin? Jesus said who can know the spirit for it moves as the wind. So I know you arent trying to say in carnel knowledge who is of christ and who isnt?. Second you allow others to pray for your soul, you think you shall stand on that day because a man forgived you here on earth. JESUS is God he lives in us we talk to him daily, he knows our hearts how then do we seek some sinner to make our paths striaght. Martinclearly spoke truth.listen

  • Mr. Martin is a SOLA SCRIPTURA heretic.

  • wow the holy sprit is strong and bold with walter martin

  • Or could it be he tickles your ears.

  • Mr. Martin is NOT an orthodox Christian!

  • uhh Martin is an orthodox christian in debate with unification church he clearly stands up to being called fundamental. But lets get something straight to call anyone a heritec usualy comes from a unfilled enemy of God. When you except the holy spirit into your soul then maybe youll here his voice, and it is clearly with Martin

  • Christians who are orthodox are part of the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church. Mr. Martin is part of none of these. A heretic is someone who publicly denies the teaching of the Church, that is exactly what Mr. Martin does. Furthermore, to "except the Holy Spirit" is a sin.

  • Did you really just say that To except the holy spirit is a SIN?? Are you satan? If your not satan are you a catholic?? If you are then I know in my heart of hearts I am a christian and that I question my self no more about being wrong not putting the pope on a pedistole

  • One of your problems is spelling. One ought to ACCEPT the Holy Spirit, EXCEPTING Him is sinful. (Also, PEDESTAL, not "pedistole.") Furthermore, there is only one Church, the Catholic Church; all others, though retaining some truth, do not maintain the fullness of faith.

  • Im sorry been a stone mason and outta school 18yrs. But funny instead of argueing one of your fellow catholics on a STUPID comment about accepting the HOly spirit is SIN you ignore his comment and try to pick out mispelled words.HAVE you catholics ever changed in all these years? You killed christians because we shed light on the falsehood of your leaders and still to this day you live decieved,we love you all and wish only that Jesus would bopen your eyes to the truth the bretheren miss you

  • There is a grave difference between ACCEPTING and EXCEPTING. To except is to exclude, to accept is to include; the details matter. If you are referring to the death of Protestants, it is doubtful that Protestants are actually fully Christian. Killing, nonetheless, is wrong; Protestants are not innocent of this crime either.

    R...08, come home to Rome.

  • Funny thing you state knowing your doctrine you know what I meant when you are baptized do you exclude or accept his spirit. But once again you play word games;the bible says your precious accept. The question of the day is'' Is it a SIN to accept the holy spirt? and if jesus lives in you the God of Isreal then why pray to Mary for intercession WHEN JESUS lives in YOU?

  • One thing you don't seem to get is the difference between EXCEPT and ACCEPT. Of course we as Catholics accept the Holy Spirit; we receive the Holy Spirit at Confirmation. Have you ever asked someone to pray for you? This is intercession. If you believe in the afterlife, then there should be no difference between asking a dead person or a living person to pray for you.

  • whats realy scary is Martin is speaking truth clearly; and now he is called a heritic. Funny thing though when christians said ctholics errored many years ago they were burned alived. Wow here again nothing has changed but the faces and generations. If love resided in THIS catholics ' heart he would be open to hearing all things remember love believes all things and seeks not its own

  • Mr. Martin is by definition a heretic because he rejects the teachings of Christ and His Church. I would not be an example of love if I let others believe his errors. Also, R...08, Catholics are Christians; we are not a separate religion. We simply maintain the fullness of faith.

  • Romans 8? doesnt say a word about catholics.Let me again remind you christians are what they are called the problem today is is everyother faith whats to be reconginized as christians. Mormans are in mormanism. Jehova witness are witnesses of the watchtower,Catholics are catholics what because jesus is found in their scripture they christians Heck Islam believe in jesus uhmm guess they sre christians to. ONLY and I mean Only do christians keep the fullness of faith

  • You make a mockery of all serious theology. As an English-speaker, you're an embarrassment to our literary tradition; use a dictionary next time you decide to write.

  • Wow; You are a teacher? Its a shame that in our system of governing we have set up anybody and everybody to positions of teaching others. A person as your self can hear the truth from Martin and then tell others in an insulting manner they are wrong. Please; I'll use a dictionary; you go learn the Bible

  • What don't you get about Mr. Martin? He's a heretic spreading false faith.

  • You have to be kidding me Nuda--Can you not hear our shepard? We hear jesus' voice. We know his voice;when a christian is in the presence of the holy spirit we know. The holy spirit is strong with Martin look at his other debates, does he not stand for jesus. You say he is a heretic spreading lies?/how when it leads souls to christ and glorifies Jesus; not Martin? We are in a relationship with Jesus-so why does this catholic answer like hes trained????answer from the spirit.

  • The Holy Spirit guides the Catholic Church alone. We hear God's voice in the defenses of His Church through Fr. Pacwa, SJ. Furthermore, the Holy Spirit does not dwell within Mr. Martin since he is neither confirmed, nor chrismated.

  • I would say Catholic Theology is heresy not Dr. Martin. Dr. Martin speak bibically while Pacwa brings added doctrines that contradict the Word of God. Jesus never taught Purgatory, Immaculate conception of Mary...all idolatrous & pagan beliefs.

  • Luckily for everyone, only Catholics and Orthodox are actually Christian. Your Protestant cults are mere attempts at legitimizing the heretical and un-Christian actions of the reformers.

  • In christianity, a cult is a person or group that claims to be in harmony with christianity and then deny Christ. All cults deny Christ as the only way to God or deny his deity or both. Catholicism is a cult because it teaches that Mary is equal with Christ as co-redeemer,co-mediator etc, when the scripture says there is only one, and that is the Lord Jesus.

  • Catholicism is the fullness of faith, all other Christians stray away.

Non est lux extra ecclesia romana.

  • AMEN

  • there is no salvation outside Christs church

  • co meidatrix is NOT EQUAL. ONE MEDIATOR CHRIST. mary only interceeds

  • this is Lies, I mean hello sunshine were you actually there so you can back up what you say....well the Catholic Church had people who were actually there, and YES JESUS DID SPEAK OF Purgatory, and I quote from the Bible that you protestants stole from us "there are many other things that Jesus did and taught" OH MY LOOK AT THAT, THE BIBLE JUST CONTADICTS WHAT YOU JUST SAID..AS THERE IS NO WAY TO PROVE JESUS DIDNT TEACH MORE EG- PURGATORY AS HE TAUGHT OTHER THINGS - WAKE UP FORM YOUR SLEEP

  • Where did Jesus "speak of purgatory"?

  • when he went to the dead. the dead was purgatory. the good thief was in purgatory for the 3 days that Jesus descended to the dead

  • Jesus told Him that he would be with Him in Paradise, not Purgatory. The doctrine of purgatory was proclaimed as doctrine by Council of Florence in 1439 A.D

  • ya, but Jesus did not say when He would see the thif in purgatory

  • ya, the thief would eventually be in heaven. but not before Jesus. where was Jesus those 3days?

  • Show me a scripture from the bible that proves what you said.

  • Matt. 5:26,18:34; Luke 12:58-59 Jesus teaches us, Come to terms with your opponent or you will be handed over to the judge and thrown into prison. You will not get out until you have paid the last penny. The word opponent (antidiko) is likely a reference to the devil (see the same word for devil in 1 Pet. 5:8) who is an accuser against man (c.f. Job 1.6-12; Zech. 3.1; Rev. 12.10), and God is the judge. we will be held in a temporary state called a prison. This prison is purgatory.

  • The opponent Jesus was refering to is your brother or neighbor, if there any dispute or difference between you and your brother, you both should get together and resolve the conflict before it ends up in court. He wasn't refering to the devil in that context in Matt 5:26.

  • Jesus used the same word for accuser as for devil. that word prison is also the same word they used for "dead".

Phil. 2:10 - every knee bends to Jesus, in heaven, on earth, and "under the earth" which is the realm of the righteous dead, or purgatory.

Baruch 3:4 - Baruch asks the Lord to hear the prayers of the dead of Israel. Prayers for the dead are unnecessary in heaven and unnecessary in hell. These dead are in purgatory.

The souls in purgatory r being purified by Christ merits.

  • Hell doesn't yet exist, hell is the lake of fire that is going to destroy the unrighteous ones in final judgement. There is no such thing as purgatory, when you die your spirit goes back to God, and the flesh goes back in the dust( eccl 12:7). There is no more atonement for your sins after you die.You people must wake up and see that you're caught under a great deception.

  • I agree with your comment, but dont be in error any longer hell exists-- hell (haities;guiana) exist rev tells us in the second death at the day of judgement hell delivers up the dead to be judged and thrown into the lake of fire. If it was a lake of fire now--then jesus couldnt have told us the story of the begger, abraham and the rich man--in hell

  • One more thing, you cannot work out terms with the devil, because his whole purpose on earth is to decieve and oppress mankind.

  • ya...so what?

  • they dealt with that passage in the previous video "2-9".

  • Actually the Sacraments are of Christ, therefore we partake in the essence of Christ for our justification by doing things He commanded based on faith in Him. This is how faith and works are organically linked. "Truly, Truly, I say to you, unless you Eat the Flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you." John Ch. 6

  • We are saved by Jesus Christ's finished work on the cross. If we have anything to do with our own salvation, then we call Jesus a liar.Sacraments, penitence and purgatory has no part in our salvation.

  • Well then I guess you need to take Romans 2:4-8 out of your bible along with Matt 25. Read them. What you don't understand is that the grace Christ earned on the Cross 2000 years ago works in our lives so as Paul says "it is not I that live but he lives in me". As eph 3:20-21 says all praise and glory be to him.

  • Are you saying Jesus earned grace on the cross?Where is this found?

  • Well let me see. If we are saved by grace and our salvation is through the cross .... If we can't attribute grace to the cross then we are not saved by grace so logically his death on the cross must be the source of all grace for us.

  • I watched a guy interview Catholics on the street. When He asked them how they get to Heaven only 1 out of 25 said because of Jesus' sacrifice, the rest said they thought is was by their good works, going to confession ect..Do you agree with the 24.

  • First of all I've seen alot of protestants asked questions like this and miss the boat as well. Tell me, does everyone have to be a theologian to be saved. I don't know how the 24 answered and won't take your word for it but certainly Jesus sacrifice would be tied in with my answer. I don't see how you can leave works out of the equation reading Rom 2:4-6 and Matt 25 the sheep and the goats. The key however is our works as a Christian are God working in and through us (eph 3:20-21).

  • Catholicism is a christian cult,it has some truth mixed in with a lot of poison. The RCC,like all other cults, believe they have a living prophet who has a direct line to God to receive God's secret knowledge,so he can imparet it to us poor laymen. His title even says that he is "the spirit of god on earth".

  • Nope, there is no secret knowledge in Catholicism. It's all open for all to see. Check out the Catechism. And we do not believe the Pope recieves ANY new revelation. He only interprets what God has already given.

  • When I was a kid catholics could not eat meat, only fish on Friday.Did the Pope change that? Why where you not allowed to eat meat on Friday in the first place?

  • You still didn't answer my question .

  • The PRACTICE of eating meat is not doctrine. Rather it is a means of the magesterium caring for the souls of people, asking them to do some form of mortification or penance. You do agree I hope that fasting is a good thing. Doctrine does not change and practice does. There have been easements to this rule but we are not supposed to eat meat on friday in general. As to why? Not eating meat is a form of fasting, denying a good for spiritual reasons.

  • Islam also has a purgatory.

  • Islam believes in one God.

Islam believes in sin and the first 5 books of the Bible.

Islam believes in the coming of the messiah.

    Islam believes in charity

    Your point.

  • Also,

    25. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her,

    26. so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,

The cleansing is done then the sanctification begins. There are other passages as well. I don't know of any protestant denomination that doesn't believe sanctification to be a process.

  • What do you believe are the qualifications for going to heaven?(or purgatory first)

  • OnChrist,

To enter heaven one must first have all sin forgiven. But when we sin we develope tendancies toward sin and attachements to it. These attachements must be purged away. Also we have caused disorder in the world and some of this disorder by God's grace in an equal fashion must be repaired.

  • IRC, how do you believe that one is forgiven?

  • Is this just another setup for you so that I can present things that are truly in the Bible and you can assert your own opinions and undermine what is in scripture? Or do you truly want to know. I would think you guys would be happy that a Catholic reads the Bible. I would think if he pointed out something you had missed you would be happy. But I've never experience that from anti-catholics like you. It's deny and undermine and nothing a Catholic finds in scripture has any meaning. Sad.

  • SANCTIFICATION

Sanctification is an act of separation from that which is evil, and of dedication unto God. WE BELIEVE it is the glorious provision for every believer in Christ to be made pure in heart and wholly sanctified, through the operation of the Holy Spirit, by the blood of Jesus and the Word of God - John 17:15-19; Acts 15:8,9; 1 Thess 4:3,4; Heb 2:11; 1 Thess 5:23,24; Heb 10:16-19; Rom 12:1-2.

  • CATHOLICS BELIEVE THEY ARE SANCTIFIED IN PART BY THE SACRAFICE OF THE MASS AND TRANSBUSTANTIATION OF THE COMMUNION HOST AND MANY OTHER THINGS They consider to be Under Sanctifying Grace.

Catholics use Gods Grace in Conjunction with Mans Physical Acts that of the Worshipper the Priest the Pope and Communion with the Dead in Christ and those they believe are Dead in Christ.

Protestants believe Sanctifying Grace is of Jesus alone who works in you daily through the Holy spirit who is in you.

  • Skysplash you twist. You separate the actions of the Christian from the actions of the Holy Spirit and create a false dichotomy. Read Eph 3:20-21. God workd in and through us all to his glory.

  • Indeed we are saved once and for all and now born again baptized by the Holy SPirit and his workmanship. He Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our Faith . Hebrews 12. He lives in us he will complete what he started. How much we submit to him is how well he can work through us to spread the Gospel message and tender to believers and unbelievers in the Spirit .

  • So no one ever dies who is imputedly righteous, is that what you are saying? I agree that he will complete what he started in those who remain in him (persevere). If Billy Graham who has undergone much sanctification converts a drug and sex and alcholhol addicted man on a bus, do you say it is impossible for the bus to crash because the convert is not yet sanctified. Or If the bus does crash, how does this guy get from imputed righteous to fully righteous? Your just not answering the ?.

  • rc, why do you have a problem with your "bus crash parable" but you don't with Jesus on the cross?

  • What are you talking about? The theif? It is not I that has the problem with the bus crash because I don't believe in imputed righteousness. I believe in infused righteousness. That's why. Infused rightnessness says that we ARE made clean, i.e. rigtheous. That rigtheousness get's tarnished as we sin later. But at the moment of baptism we are made clean.
