  • fair play donal og. still one of the best goalkeepers in the country and he is going to be make a great cork captain in 2012. corcaigh abu

  • What an embaressment to Irish manhood!

i can see how close friends will not tell him to get his finger out, but at the end of the day, he has to be made aware that homosexuality is a thing of the mind (and lately a thing that the media will use to sell tabloids) and he must see the greater picture. A nice female companion will do him the world of good. After all ........ Girls were made to love and kiss.........

  • fair play to Donal, must have been a tough time for the lad ,he's still a cork muppet though,

  • I honestly think he isn't good enough to be playing at inter-county level and should be replaced.

  • well done Donal, if only everyone was as honest and unashamed you....

  • a great man

  • i'm gay 2 and he gives me real inspiration to come out to my friends and family

  • he;s gay..wow does anyone care anymore

  • @ateam22

Does anyone know how to spell "any more" any more?

  • Bless you Donal Og - people like you pave the way for the rest of us. I greatly admire your strength and courage.

  • Well done kid.

  • youtube wont let me put my comment up

  • fantastic goalkeeper! and im from limerick!

  • good man donal.

  • For what reason RTE, are you removeing every one of hundreds of comments that are not supportive of Donal og Cusack, and his homosexual lifestyle which he has chosen to live?. Why the cencorship of views other than those that are pro Homosexual?. Are you trying to create the impression that everyone who watches this video is pro Homosexual , whilst nothing could be further from the truth.

  • agree with you totally hillbrowjhb, as far as I'm aware no religion condones such an unnatural lifestyle. I am not religious but I think the billions of people who are deserve to say what they think. Another example of Political Correctness gone mad!

  • @chatsworth1buccaneer You know what else is "unnatural"? The computer you typed that comment on. Synthetic plastic and refined metals, electrical fuses and copper wires, all man made and mass produced in gigantic factories. It is anything but natural but you seem to have no problem with them.

  • braver man for admitting to it! fair play!

  • well done donal...i hadn a clue even though it was in the news that whole week...i must say i was shocked but fair play 2 him

  • Yeah the more gays in the world, the more women for me!! Chuckle chuckle!

  • Well done Donal, i think i got a man crush...

  • Good on him. Fair play.

  • I think he's a gentleman. Looks like a down-to-earth guy. And his book is good. Kudos to him!

  • Fair play donal & if i may add fastest selling book in Ireland for the last 2weeks. So a lot of people are fasinated in this story. from Tipp fan

  • does this mean the GAA will have to have different changing rooms ?? for gaa people

  • Fair play Donal!

  • Not a great interview to be honest. He comes across as extremely wooden and boring. Leaving aside all the overblown gay hype for a minute the most crucial point in the interview was when he was asked about ball-tampering to which he makes a lame half-ass half-joke non-response effectively destroying his own credibility. To get back to the hype he goes into too much detail about his gay exploits and bizarrely reads out a letter in praise of himself at the end. Note to Donal-get a publicist.

  • Thank you Donal so much. You have opened up so many path ways for Irish gay lads to realise that it is not an issue.

    Thanks

  • He's a true hero and very strong and courageous. A lot of other sports players who are straight haven't a clue what it feels like to go against the flow and be a real hero. Donal Og is a role model.

  • Neither do the gay ones! There are so many people that should come out and show the world that being gay doesn't mean you are a certain type of person. There are gay people in every walk of life!

  • um is it just me or did everyone know that a year or two ago? and im not being homophobic or anything but why should he release an autobiography?

  • hes had a successful sporting career , thats why he released an autobiography, not because hes gay!

  • That's real courage. Fair play.

  • Fair play to him... a lot of time for him, really good interview, tubridy is much better interviewer than plank kenny

  • Happen to be working in Dublin at the moment and caught this interview a few nights ago.

I indorse everything that rickT5555 and others have written although MimiButtimer I know what you meant but it is nature's choice that he is gay not his own.

I wish him all the very best in his career now and the future after the game is over.

Big kudo's also to Ryan Tubridy for his part in making this such a 'normal, natural' interview. Bravo.

  • Where's my comment ?

  • below this 1

  • Honest , forthright, confident, self respecting and fearless.............what admirable integrity. This man has pushed against the secretive bigots that are all over Ireland and I hope others have the balls to follow his lead.

  • yeah sport in particular and its homphobia, he was great on the Late Late, talked very well, I didnt see it all and hope the interview wasent all focused on his sexuality, when is his book in shops,

  • he sounds very like Roy Keane!!

  • Cause Der Both Frm cork hah

  • Kudos Donal. I think there are plenty more gay/bisexual sportsmen that are in the public eye who are in the closet. Let's hope they come out publicly in the near future too.

  • ^ ^

  • Honest, to the point, and unashamed. A HUGE step forward for Ireland.

  • Fair play Donal.....that took real inner strength to get up there on national TV and talk about it.....

  • Fair play Donal, you're an inspiration!

  • A rock solid interview - a first and certainly not the last !!!

  • well doe big man. You are an inspiration. I cant wait til high profile people like you start to come out.

  • Good on him

  • fair play to him..about time gaa players realise they dont always have to potray such a mocho image that comes with playing the games

  • Such a brave man.

  • Well done Donal Og...I hope your book is a bestseller.....congratulations and best wishes for a life full of serenity and happiness and fullfilment.

  • What a great guy! A credit to the GAA, Cork hurling and sport in general.

  • fair play to the man

  • Love Donal Óg he is a savage hurler, and fair play to him for coming out. :)

    xxxxxxxxxx

  • this man is gay

  • Hero

  • People should stop getting all hyped up about this its his choice if he's gay or not

  • I can hardly think of a better way to help demolish some of the old gay stereotypes people have in their minds then for a star Irish hurler to come out as gay. Will it confuse some heteros? Sure it will, but so what? Hopefully it will teach them the lesson that gay people are everywhere—-even, most likely, within their own families.

  • get over yourself man! nobody gives a shite! anything to sell a book. who's that presenter? he's terrible! like a nosey auld biddy whispering outside church!!

  • Hero

  • Fair play great interview

  • LEGEND XX

  • way to go donal og,hope all goes well for you!

  • just wants to make money off the book his bringing out why didnt he come out 4years ago

  • Well done Donal! Proud of you.....

  • Well done Donal I'm Proud to be Irish.

  • cool guy!

  • great!

  • We all Knew he was gay......................waaaaaaaay before he said it......Freaken.....visible from miles away
