@ChefGirl22 They all get along great, the only problem I use to have with the cut throats is when they would try to take over another birds nest but now that they are so use to each other I dont see that happening anymore. The cut throats aren't being bullies anymore so now everyone is happy.
@ tkkamele yessss they sing now more than they did in a cage of just canaries......they actually sing with my zebra finches, european goldfinch and cordon bleus....I hear my cutthroats and society finches every now and then but the canaries sing almost as much as my zebra finches chirp lol
I have a cage about 6ft wide and 4 feet deep, with three pairs of Zebra Finches.?
Can i keep with them and expect them to be peacful and breed the follwing birds?
1. Canaries
2. Java Ficnhes
3. Australian dove(small grey ones)
4. Cockatiels.
I dont intend to keep all of them with Zebras. But i just want to add, so please help me which ones can and cant get along. I would like them to breed too.
@karpov711 first you can not cross breed zebra finches with other finches, and as far as keeping a happy aviary.......canaries are part of the finch family and get along great with zebras, javas are a maybe some can be a little bullyish and they are alot bigger than the zebras but not as peaceful as the canaries, the small doves should be alright being that they are pretty peaceful but I would keep an eye on that, cockatiels are a absolutely not they will kill your zebras, no hookbills...
@tmhteacher during that season if I want them to mate I have to put them in a seperate cage because the finches will try to use their nests before the canaries get a chance to and there's alot of distraction because the canaries are very different when it comes to breeding.....they are the most happy all together so I don't worry about them breeding anyway, my motto is if it happens it happens.
@geofrog777 This is part one because I sold some of these birds and moved alot around in part two you'll notice a few differences they actually weren't too crowded but very comfortable.....after I sold some it looked empty in there. They are community birds and enjoy many compatible characters around them so they've never been over crowded I make sure of that ; )
too much birds in there !

Do your canaries still sing being kept with the finches?
tkkamele 1 year ago
@G0left I only have 2 of them trained to do that......they're older than the others.
finchbirdlover 1 year ago
@G0left They fly around the house when my dogs aren't out and they can be outside in a cage.

Have you had the experience of having your canaries during the breeding season? How do they do in your colony situation?
