So this is the town that inspired Cristoph Gans movie take of Silent Hill? Interesting man, i didn't think this was based on a real place. So this underground inferno's been burning for more than half a century? thats f*cking crazy, just crazy, just think of the bodies or evidence you could dispose of down there. You want to get rid of your boss or your ex, then dump them down there, and burn the evidence. Jokes aside, surely all those pipes venting (carbon dioxide/monoxide?) cant be healthy!
i still dont know the true reason why they destroyed the buildings... its pointless, they should have left it standing to mark that once before that this was a town,... let it stand
Hey Youtube, you need to knock it off with cutting audio on peoples videos. I noticed your doing it to almost everyones videos. Are you trying to have your subscribers leave and find another site? Think about it!!!
Seems YouTube is in bed with the recording industry mafia? I can't imagine sabotaging people's videos is good for business.
Fight back, and refuse to buy any music. I hear something crazy that they want to make radio stations even pay more to play their music, even though artists wouldn't sell without radio exposure/promo.
Besides, they haven't produced much good music since the 1980s, so I already prefer just to play my old CDs, and boycott the Obama Depression Obamanomics.
I appreciate the info on the town, but the music makes me feel like I'm waiting for a doctor's appointment. At least you've admitted that you made a poor choice of music.
I like it. The music makes it all sound nice and normal...nice middle-class suburban neighborhood, that just so happens to have a raging inferno beneath its feet! So in a way, the music ADDS to the eerie effect.
As high school projects go, this one is way more interesting than most I have seen. :-)
ive been here, its freaky as shit, weird stuff goes on here, keep out of the hills, and stay away from york pa, the seven gates of hell man, stay away
i just went there today.... we went ("we" as in my friend and i) to the abandoned highway and saw graffiti telling us we are going down the highway to hell and stuff.... it was really creepy
the music is horrible, absolutely horrible. It would really emphasize the atmosphere in the town if you had no score over the film at all, empty, barren... just like the place.
I could care less about the narration or even the guy in the video im glad people actually still risk their life to go get footage so we can all see what it's like today. I would really love to see waht hte mine currently looksl ike but that's probably impossible at this point they should like stick a camera ona rope down one of those pipes lol then maybe we can see how crazy it looks
Jesus man that's insane but i really would love to see what the mine looks like it's probably insane i mean it's not funny or anything but taht would be a site to see
why do you bounce everyonce in a while why you talk? I can barely hear...It was very interesting to me tho. Scares me cause under our land is an old coal mine

Call yourself a director?? Call yourself a documentor?? Sheesh, that was pure disrespect and the most disgusting display of childish travesty I EVER saw.
I must admit that the narration of the video was a bit crude. I liked the music though. And I liked the overall video very much. Good job, awesome place!
Good footage, but the narration is awful. Its like the kid was trying to sound like a real documentarian but just failing miserably. And who did the wretched writing for this? "Scattered Roads with no meaning"?? What the hell is that supposed to mean? And that bit about the Catholic priest putting a curse on the town was just stupid. Here's an idea: just upload the video you shot, without the music and without Jonathan Paine.
There once was a town named Centralia, where the kids loved paraphernalia. While stashing their bong, something went wrong, and some kids burned it all to hell-ia.
get your facts straight. The reason there are still people remaining in this "ghost town" is that they have lived there for their entire lives, their parents and their parent's parents called this town home. It's called "sentimental value", and the people from this area do not appreciate the way that you disrespected our heritage. No one believes that the government wants the coal in this area...it's on fire (dumbass)...don't tell stories that aren't true. You're very disrespectful to us
OK this video sucks. Terrible music, poor audio, fat kid, central PA haircut, Central PA sweater, just move on and forget you saw it. In 2 or three years you'll be ok again and nobody will know you ever saw this. That said, quite informative, even if low quality.
fucking homo look at you all concerned about his choice of clothes and hairstyle. wtf does that have to do with the subject matter? go watch queer eye for the straight guy or will and grace you fashion twat.
Sorry to dump on the parade, But I'm from the coal region born and raised. First if you close the "Man Made Vents" the town will NOT blow up. Its self vented! Second I'm an active Molly Historian and Never heard of the "Curse" if you know something that I don't please tell me where you found this information.
I'm an ex coal miner..Why doesn't somebody reopen the pit?? If there's that amount of fuel for 1000 years it's WORTH $BILLIONS!!! Geez boy you've got a coal gas source that can be turned into electricity by extracting it out one pipe and blowing moist air down another to encourage production!! The bore holes should be relatively inexpensive as the amount of surface damage shows the coal to be near the surface!

They did not destroy the buildings, that is the nature does.

Unless Nature resembles a Pennsylvania DOT bulldozer... Nature has done nothing to the town physically.
The houses were bulldozed simply to stop people from moving back to town and taking up their mineral rights agian.
