  • Crass were subversive for about a minute at the turn of the 80s. But when a collective reunites for a bunch of poseurs what anticipate the opening verse 30 secs in advance, it only renders me sad. Opposing commercialism and corporate hegemony becomes a bit of a farce when your fan base has latched upon your logos and singalong tunes. Hurl a brick asswads.

  • This country need crass , do more reunions do it , you would sell out every gig give money to whoever but do it wake the country up. DO IT.Please just think about it. fuck all else happening .

  • Its quality punk not the shite we have now x-factor? jesus what a shame.

  • I was around in 80/1/2/3 crass were such a subversive band then , i never got that.

I thought there music was fantastic, not just the political message.

Some kid painted the crass (gun logo) on our local playground area, i thought it looked cool as fuck . There is a shit load more to crass than the political message they believe in, You cant stop veggies or nukesits stupid to think you can, and we have to have law and govs, fact of life, but good to have a band like. them to stir it up.

  • we're a nuetral entertainment company. punks should not be fighting one another about races in our scene. thats a good start to making money off entertainment sales. all entertainment tends to be educational and revolutionary. you cant get away from sexual excitement in revolutionary music. thats fine. neither can i. its not wrong to be hardcore antiracist entertainment. its WRONG to be serious about it and pick fights with LIBERAL or CONSERVATIVE people.

  • looking back, i have regrets about being revolting also. it wasnt so much punk or hardcore that made me that way, it was a feeling of being recruited by the government and having no way out but standing up for the causes. nothing wrong with that still.

  • maybe CRASS were counter-revolutionary but alot of that was traded in for the freedom to buy and sell mate and it was the goal of all PUNK in the beginning which is why you had revolting CONSERVATIVE groups like THE GERMS and BLACK FLAG. hardcore began as maximized heavy capitalist pop rocknroll so dont tell me that CONSERVATIVE REVOLUTION is not HARDCORE or PUNK evry band or artist has a goal of profitability to a certain extent or theyre STUPID. think about that.

  • SINCE WHEN DID PUNK BECOME A SELF-LOATHING PASSERBY'S ELITE SHOT AT MAKING ENTERTAINMENT ANYTHING BUT EDUCATIONAL? I HEAR ALOT OF TALK ABOUT REFUNDING THE NONCAPITALIST GOVERNMENT WITH ACTIVIST GOALS BUT NOT ALOT IS DONE, NOT TO MENTION SUPPORT GIVEN. IT SEEMS LIKE SELF-LOATHING NOT PUNK.

  • @PUNKSNOTDEAD888 the REAL crass is a counter revolution clown face this band is just entertainment and art about it theyre in it FOR CASH FROM CHAOS and if you dont get it how an arts market works youre DUMB go get a book or magazine about postmodernist art

  • @mediattackrecords not everyone has a shit load of money to go to art school to learn how "arts markets work". No one should have to read a book or attend schooling to understand art. you've filled this entire space with your pretentious rantings replying to your own comments. ??? seriously??

  • @chaos97 yeah well thats what disability, good grades, and serving the govt activists is for

fuck your race rules. punk is not about any elite race. youre still a wannabe poseur who cant do one thing for the govt but wine about conservatives

  • @mediattackrecords what the fuck is wrong with you? what is serving govt activists? what "race rules"? how am i a wannabe? where am i whining about conservatives?

Is english your first language? because you're so hard to understand the only explaination im seeing is that you're having a hard time expressing yourself. otherwise you're talking out of your ass and you're full of shit.

  • @chaos97

did i direct anything to you personally? read on, the HATE EDGE trend is over. noone cares what your race or ethnic political values are. Im not saying its a big fuss for you but this is the ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS. if you dont like the arts or entertainment and they make yuo angry maybe you need to just find something else in LIFE. ANYONE CAN BE CRASS. all it takes is following your goals as an artist NOT someone elses.

  • @chaos97 nothing much is worng iwth me just another bipoalr schizoaffective like most actors and music related artists are so what its harmless really

  • this video is ace and captures the minimal design counter revolution of the group well

  • @chaos97

you know what? I AGREE WITH YOU. im nothing but another picasso meets andy warhol shot up with some unexpressionist uncreative beliefs so lets just leave it at that.

  • @mediattackrecords

punks not about believing in creativity its really not a baby boomer art. they very much were listening to the label and producer ART and REPERTOIRE music and art school heros and so should you

  • punk music is still all about design and stage presence as we can see with CRASS. in teh future I can see Crass played in shops to sell RETROGRADE HERMAN MILLER chairs to architects. THATS ENTERTAINMENT AND THATS ART. take it or leave it.

  • CRASS i now a mainstream group like UNFAIR? is mainstream and INDIE. just becuase people dont comment on the page really is irrelevant. people are still a bit homophobic of being associated with the CRASS race but im sure alot of mainstream people and fans will show up.

  • it very much is a postmodern art movement associated with modernists and pop warhol advertising

  • @chaos97 you know what i tend to follow pop and r and b music more than what modernism is saying but its modernism that has the cash in the end

  • @PUNKSNOTDEAD888 WHAT HAPPENED IS THAT YOU JUST RUINED THE ART AND REPERTOIRE OF THE PUNK SCENE WITH PRE-PUBESCENT, UNFASHIONABLE, NON-ENTERTAINING 1-SIDED POLITICS.

  • @mediattackrecords wat punk scene its dead not their never was

  • @PUNKSNOTDEAD888 are you talking about Punk? Punk is not dead there's still model poseurs trying to be Punk mate.

  • @mediattackrecords its done i wasted five years on that so called scene and its just dumb

  • @PUNKSNOTDEAD888 I LOVE CRASS. THE BAND IS ALL ABOUT ART AND INDIVIDUALITY. THATS ALL PUNK IS ABOUT IS JUST BEING YOUR OWN THINKER.

  • @PUNKSNOTDEAD888

you know what? first off, i love you man. secondly, if you want to make it, just do it.

NOONE IS stopping you but yourself. get off the negative HATE EDGE trend and just do it. CRASS is the real meaning of what a POP PUNK band is to ENTERTAINMENT if you cant see that your blind. all these hetful angry people just need to focus their business skills on entertainment and DO IT! anyone can be a CRASS pop or rock n roll star. JUST DO IT!

  • This is not aggression this how I cool out!

  • @BoarHorse yeah but mosh pit morons ruin the profit to be made off our art and music you say its not aggression for crass but on the outside the audience looks like a bunch of racial prejudiced failures in life at most gigs that coin the term "punk." if people clown about like violent prejudiced runts who really gains off the art and music then?

  • @mediattackrecords once again we lose. a revolution in music should be "all accessible" for everyone not one particular proletariat race. in that case how could anyone be motivated to really do much if nothing to be gained is involved but a fading shot at fame and popularity?

  • What date they preformed this gig?

  • look at all these stupid hair cuts and T shirts. punk off the wrack.

  • what a coincidence the bassist here is a leftie like crass's bassist pete wright. or is it him, well i dont think so.

shame steve ignorant did this but oh well always great to here some crass now and then.

  • Brings back the memories...

    Thanks for posting

  • No. Production values were determined by access to production equipment, a great monopoly in the 80's held by money gorged executives and their studios, let's not even venture to the lack of understanding by "professional" audio engineers. Have you ever had the fortune to come across original CRASS vinyl releases? 6 page collages all done via photocopying selected images so production quality. We had the same problems in Melbourne, Australia. Listen to early recordings of Einsturzende neu Bauten

  • Perpetually encouraging to see our generation punk true. Here's to Ignorant. You ever coming to Australia? These punk(?) jocks could do with a reminder...

  • It's embarrassing, punk and the elderly don't mix, it's like vodka and vinegar

  • fantastic observation, but what are you going to do with the vinegar then?

  • put it on fish and chips or in a fresh cut to the wrist

  • No Mickey, stick to your vinegar. What is embarrassing is people like you suffering serious delusions about punk and subsequently yourselves. Before judging others judge thyselves. Who are you to criticise a person so seminal in the rise of punk and political consciousness during the drab days of Thatcherism. Oh history? I forgot! You people don't like to read or investigate. And, "punk and elderly don't mix"? You ARE deluded. Remember these words in a few years time. PUNK is a state of mind.

  • You shouldn't really make comments like that unless you know a little more. Life is about knowing before making assumptions. I probably know about these middle-class twats than you. "People like me" lol You know nothing, less than nothing..., punk doesn't exist in the way your peanut brain assumed it did.

  • Perhaps it is a generational issue. Punk, during the time of CRASS et al, was evidently something different. There was concern about having a political voice during an awful period shared by many people. The vitriol at your fingertips is enough to suggest to me that perhaps you are the spoilt middle-class twat with some imaginary axe to grind. I was merely disappointed by your comment "It's embarrassing, punk and the elderly don't mix." Go and insult the nearest wall.

  • I am as working class as they probably come. Don't assume you know anything about me. Ignorant is as bad as Lydon, a sell-out. And Crass were always middle-class and a bunch of hypocrites.

  • Assumptions are why I have avoided until now to contribute to these type of forums. You yourself assumed I am a "peanut brain". Lydon became a pop star piece of crap and always was. Much the same as Nick Cave. I am genuinely interested in how you have come to the conclusion Ignorant and Lydon belong to the same category. Please give an old man some illumination.

  • I didn't mean to offend you, peanut-brain was just a figure of speech and meant in jovial banter.

I suppose what it comes down to is when this kind of set is applied to a larger arena with new and modern sound systems, it dilutes the original sound away and makes them sound like any other shit around, no? Poor production was part of the whole Crass genré no?

  • Excuse me for not replying earlier, but it was a good point you made. Poor production was more to do with what you could carry to a gig in those days, well, it was in Melbourne, Australia. On Saturday & Sunday afternoons we used to play on the roof of the front verandah/porch of the store we lived behind and above of and organise gatherings in disused warehouses. I found out yesterday the "Primitive Calculators" have reformed after 30 years. Cheers. Keep well.

  • @dimitri1453 youre starting to sound about as p.c., sexist, and religious as they come. give up while you have any social dignity left. if punk has no conservative element to it the interest isnt there. it should be a three way street not one as CRASS clearly proved with their 7 inches if you were paying attention.

  • @MickeyLove01

ageism is totally unwelcome as long as the fashion or revolting sex appeal is together age doesnt matter

  • shouldnt he write songs about today

  • Truth of their reality is the wrong end of a gun.

Proof of that is Eye-rack, that's no fucking fun.

Seeing a squaddie lying in a front yard.

Seeing a squaddie blown apart for oil.

Finding you're one son down from what you used to have

Government tells you "Thank you very much."

  • actually its

truth of their reality is at the wrong end of the gun

  • I can't understand Ignorant still singing the lines about Northern Ireland when there are kids (soldiers) in the Middle East getting blown apart in a fucking pointless war. Rewrite it man. Oh, and 89/100 for this clip.
