the only way, avg working citizens like, like those who make minimum wage or those who make 50K a year, etc. have a real voice for change is by voting in representatives who will give a damn about what we want....the GOP don't want you TO EVEN HAVE ANY POWER OF REPRESENTATION, they falsely interpret the Constitution as some narrow document with "limited" powers...yet those are broad, vague limited powers that affect everything. GOP wants rich to run this country as RICH sees fit
some insurance companys that you faught so bravley for, cut children off completely just to avoid the pre existing conditions. "dont tread on me" tread on your kids, it will effect mostly white families now blame it on obama for being racist
medicare is a single payor system.. and look at it.!!. I am scared to death because I am getting close to the age when I will be forced into medicare..
@IowaArmen really is that so .. I beg to differ with you .. have you actually seen people dying in the streets in this country .. I work in health care and if anything I constantly see people being kept alive against their will... tube feedings and the like.. no quality of life there..
Backus is a joke he and all of the dems and repubs need to be removed from office..they have failed in protecting the very people they are suppose to serve..they only want to be reelected and will do anything to that end..
The same people who voted against social securiy, medicare, equal rites think just like you....Your not just a moron but a moron with lots of members........your so sorry.
you mean the same social securtiy and medicare programs that were "feel good" at the time but now they are broke? Civil rights was a republican backed and based program you imbasile. A dem president signed it, but it was started and promoted by republicans that had to bring dems to the table kicking and screaming you jackass.
@am60mo Fox be with you. The FOX runs strong in this one............You have passed the PALIN test ...congrats your in!!!!!!......In the stupid crowd.
REPEAL IT...& Send it Back for a do-over with "real" senators next time..
Americans might not be that bright, but we aren't so stupid that we would buy 4 years worth of insurance just to get "worse" or restricted insurance access some time in the future..Nobody that understands it would ever buy into that contract..
I don't want no government giving me options. How dare they use our tax dollars to give us choices in health care. Options are confusing! No options is better! No public option!
Key word here "Option"....the way this bill is written, it will only be an "Option" for a couple of years before the governments plan will be the "ONLY" option. Do you honestly think everyone that doesn't see this the way you do is stupid, or a T bagger, or watches fox? How stupid is that.
That was so disrespectful to interupt Senator Grassley. If those protesters did their homework, they'd realize that Grassley himself has stated that the healthcare system is broken - and that he believes reform is necessary.
In public meetings that have requested respect be granted to scheduled speakers these outbursts were nothing but disrespectful to duly elected Representatives.
I suppose asking you to view these events in context is asking way too much.
As I said. They waited. They showed respect. Asking you to see that is obviously too much for you to grasp. Just because they have a different viewpoint, you'd rather mute them. Typical of the way the Dems have done things. Just ram it through... We know better than the American people.
"Duly elected Representatives" -- stooges of lobbyists. Pawns. Respect is earned not just given.
What part of the Senator's request did you not understand?
If you refuse to behave civilly why would you knowingly enter a meeting of civil people if not to disrupt? There is a time and place for effective dissent. This was neither the time nor the place.
Ironically you continue to wonder why such disruptions are so ineffective in obtaining anything but notoriety.
I didn't say it was effective. I said they were as respectful as they could have been and they had every right. I didn't even agree with the protesters views, but I support they had a right to say what they did within an open public forum. Or does the first amendment mean nothing any more?
The request was to be respectful. And in my opinion they were. They let him go through his entire speech -- uninterrupted. What part of that is unclear? Seriously. We'll just have to disagree.
All they were really doing was pointing out that there wasn't anyone on that panel that represented their viewpoint. What's so wrong about that?
Open to the public for attendance, but you knew that already and now pretend not to.
It was expressly clear there would be speakers heard and that they had been formally scheduled. The audience was requested to remain quiet and give due respect to the proceedings. This group took advantage of a short pause and willfully and with intent to disrespect the proceedings disrupted the meeting.
We do disagree because you give more weight to Public than Meeting and it makes you wrong.
What happened trainwreck, lose sight of your claim?
Your free speech ends at my ears.
You ability to speak does not preclude others from desiring not, even forbidding, to hear you.
If you want to speak freely you have an entire Nation's Public Lands at your disposal. You cannot however, disrupt Public Meetings simply because you want to.
You have a right to Speak
You do not have the right to force others to Hear You
You are demanding to be given more rights than the man beside you.
I see we're down to name calling. How second grade. Whatever. You are soooo right. Everyone else can just stand in a corner and we'll listen to the drivel that Congressmen want us to hear. Yep. That's the American way. You just keep pounding that drum, dude.
I'd apologize for "trainwreck" but it was so apropos I couldn't help but use it.
What happened to your reasoned rebuttal?
Oh, I'm sorry. You never had one.
Sorry to have brought it up, again.
Feel better now?
No?
Apparently, I can't say for all cases but I will speak for myself, it helps immensely to have a point of view and to be able to express it succinctly.
I keep forgetting, you don't have anything to say. You just want to be heard.
LOL. So, if there was a panel that came before the public and not ONE of the panel represented your and many others' viewpoint, I guess the American people are just suppose to sit down, sit on their hands, and shut up.
It's you who have little to no point, Mr. right. I have a perfectly reasonable point. One which has stood the test of history. Read the Declaration of Independence... you'll see what I mean.
You just want to be "right" damn the facts and other POVs!
This panel took months to schedule. Where were you when your State Rep and the Panel's sponsoring Committee were interviewing for participants? Did you really think you could just barge in during the meeting and demand to be heard?
Let's rock n roll with this new healthcare reform! Let's pass the Public Option! Let's help the 66% of American bankruptcies because of burdening medical bills. Let's bring affordable healthcare to millions of Americans that are left out. Let's lower our pharmaceutical costs to everyone, single moms and the elderly included. Let's bring competition to the Health Care Insurance companies that can post record profits and pay their executives and lobby for millions of dollars! Let's do it now!
I believe the chief problem is that insurance has become so expensive those without employee insurance can't afford it and even employers are finding it harder to cover their employee's expenses. The argument isn't really over IF but HOW things need to change. Incidentally, in 1776 insurance of any kind didn't exist. Modern health care is actually less than a century old, and privatizing it was originally supposed to temporary.
@FlatPelican Americans don't have the competence, the ideals, or the means to run a universal health care system for all Americans. It's not that you guys shouldn't run it, but it's that you CAN'T do it. Deep down you guys are so corrupt, that money, debt, and self-interest is all you see when thinking about human lives and healthcare.
You should focus your efforts more on first firing your sellout politicians. (Republican or Democrat). Then thwarting lobbyists out of Congress.
Baucus is a scumbag, he is not representing the people, he is a fraud and should be in exposed to biotoxin. Let's hope he gets cancer, loses his insurance, and dies painfully, slow. If that happens and he still believes in his bill, then he is an honest man.
Thats what you and alot of people dont get.. The senate and all of the govt. employees have the best health insurance. Thats what Baucuse is trying to give us....The american people.
no he isn't. If he were then he would not have voted NO to the ammendment that would have forced them to be subject to the exact same laws they will force us to. My GOD your a moron. The only "Choice" your gonna have when this is all done is the choice to buy the policy or pay the fine. Health care is not what all this is about.
LOL....I never watch it, don't even have cable, but I have read the both bills, have you goblin....? ....but from what I have heard, I'll take FOX over MSNBC anyday.
@marley54fd YEA, really "who ever pays the piper calls the tune" who ever has the cash makes the decision on what is going to happen .when we deal with insurance companies we give up our power of money
Baucas is a joke..he says on Thursday the repubs are slowing down the meetings...then the next day he cahnges his mind and calls a recess until next Tuesday and nothing has been put on the computer for anyone to read..so much for the promised transparancy...all these guys need to be thrown out of office..
the millions of dollars bacchus has taken from the insurance and other companies to keep single payer off the table is blood money. plain and simple. england, canada france and even cuba do health care better than us. the health care debate in america is horribly pathetic. it is completely doable. the groups who send people with guns to town hall meetings give a hint of how much corporate money is to be lost if we were to go single payer.
Nothing is guaranteed, nor is it free. You tax the wealthy too badly and they leave the country. When they leave, your trickle up poverty will only be poverty. Their taxes to pay for FREE HEALTHCARE go with them! "Uh-oh...that means nobody's gonna pay for it?!" My response: Damn right genius! Welcome to the club of late-comers-who-didn't-get-it-until-too-late. If you don't believe me, rich people are already doing this on a small scale by leaving high tax states up north and out west.
Actually scienceofthings it's very obvious you have no idea of what goes on outside the United States. Here in Canada, it IS guaranteed. In the UK and France, it IS guaranteed. In Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Denmark, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Luxembourg, Monaco, Australia and New Zealand, it is ALL GUARANTEED! How is it we can do this and you can't? Are you really that incompetent that the USA cannot afford to go single payer and SAVE money? Your lies help Satan
My only comment on that entire praise of the international community. Is that, the United States of America is a place where religion still matters. Europe is not. And, therefore you cannot just throw "satan" around as an insult, can you?
No, you don't know a damn thing about religion in Europe. You all hate it, and soon you'll all become just as godless as Russia became under the Soviet Union.
Read my comment again. I'm a Canadian, not a European. I know more about the United States than most Americans. (Like every state capital for instance.) I've lived in the USA as well. As far as religion still mattering, what does that have to do with health care? Does the land that still praises Jesus not believe in helping their fellow man as Jesus taught? Your comment makes no sense. Why cannot the land that still praises Jesus give free health care to all? Jesus would.
Heedless, you obviously are just as godless as Europe in Canada, because you refer to us as "those who still worship Jesus".
So, since you're not a Christian, how can you tell me what Jesus WOULD do. It is very dangerous indeed to interpret the edicts of our lord.
If you are wrong, then you may suffer damnation for it. Also, Jesus makes everyone sick. He made Job sick. Everything that happens is his will. Including ppl dying.
As an aside, there are two other things. One is that if you think that Europe is godless, I dare you to go to Italy and trash-talk Jesus just to see how long it takes for you to get your ass beat, yet they have free healthcare as well. Two is that the Soviet Union was far less corrupt than the current "free states" that were formerly Soviet. It went from communism to organized crime, to me, that's a step backwards.
I am Italian. And I can tell you, that the liberal secularism of my home country is INDEED characteristic of the rest of Europe. Sure, they may be 90% Roman Catholic, but how many practice? Religion is dying there too. No where in Europe is it growing. Thanks to secularism. It matters not though, the Lord cares not how few of his flock follow him, and which are led astray.
If you are representative of just how the corruption of man has perverted the original Christian word, it's no wonder that people are leaving religion. I bet god HIMSELF is scratching his head and looking at you wondering "Didn't I make GREED one of the seven deadly sins?" You sir are quite guilty of that. As for me, since I'm not the one trying to claim godliness, my sins don't matter. Difference is, I'm not hypocritical. I don't sin and tell others not to as you are doing here.
Yeah, so there is no indication that I'm greedy in any of my posts. I can assure you I'm not. The only thing I want in life is to increase the power of my Lord Jesus Christ.
Also, you're sins do matter, everyone will be arraigned before the judgement of Jesus Christ, even you. That is all I have to say to you.
My knowledge of other places isn't necessary since I don't vote or live in those places. Also, I refuse to take criticism from someone in a country which remains safe only because it shares a border with us. We have boy scout troops more capable and in bigger numbers than your military. You are negated. Dismissed.
Yes, we're protected.... from what? Nobody wants to attack Canada. The biggest way you protect us is by being the arrogant pricks that you are and effectively pinning a paper target on your asses. Your country is incredibly young and knows very little. My country takes advice from its parents (UK, France). You can say I'm negated all you want because the USA is still a laughing stock around the world because of what greedy, uncaring soulless bastards so many of you are! YOU are dismissed.
Not yet, people always want more so if the U.S. falls to some other power, what will you do then? Give the invaders that same crappy excuse, "You don't want us, no one does." I don't care for useless opinions, by that rationale, but thanks anyways. America may be doomed, but we have done more for the world, sometimes against our will and brains, to make it better. Our country is incredibly successful and we are (or used to be) responsible citizen adults.
People ignorance is disturbing, American and yours alike. Thomas Hobbes wrote in favor of a controller, a king, or group of people and said the masses were children. Unfortunately when we stop being forceful, but rational adults, we get treated like children. John Locke refuted this and was in favor of reasonable adults governing themselves with limited government...sound familiar? That is why the U.S. was successful and was able to provide opportunity.
No, you are still a fool and you are still dismissed. The only reason we are a laughing stock is because we are dumb enough to keep helping and supporting whiny, foolish nations and people who hate us. Most of us aren't uncaring, we are generous. Most of us aren't soulless, we have more good resting on our souls than you probably do, and most of us aren't greedy, we simply use the genius tools the founders left for us to work for BETTER LIVES.
You are the bastard of your parent company, we are the envied and successful child who rebelled. It paid off because all of the ungrateful people of the USE us, then spit in our faces and we are damn sick of it!
Here is another novelist and her writings: "I swear, by my life and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine." - Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. AS is about Socialism, Communism and Fascism.
Article 1, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution states: "The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and GENERAL WELFARE OF THE UNITED STATES; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States". So there it is! Congress is authorized to enact health care legislation that ensures the GENERAL WELFARE, and is authorized to levy taxes to fund it. End of Discussion!!
How would you feel if you had a 3 year old daughter denied three times for life-saving heart surgery because there weren't enough beds to service all the patients? Or in order for your family member to get the drugs they need in the time they need them they have to allow doctors to molest them? Or they were flat out denied the medication? These and other horror stories have already been played out in the very socialized system many Americans have come to idolize.
Oh yeah, and if you think we have the laughing stock of the healthcare systems, then you've been ignoring the hysterical laughter of other people from around the world when they hear about the US trying to move to a socialist healthcare system...or the fact that the UK is warning the US about the dangers of the system. Look it up. Ours might be bad, theirs is much, much worse.
Corporate insurance companies provide less healthcare for your money because each company has to pay for administration, infrastructure, executive bonuses, advertising, shareholder dividends, law suits against other insurance companies, and lobbyists. In addition, corporations are not transparent and not accountable.
On the bright side, corporations maximize profits by cutting wages, denying claims and excluding preexisting conditions.
Single-payer eliminates duplication of administration and has no need to pay lobbyists, executive boards, lawyers, or advertising. It is more accountable because everything it does is public record, unlike private corporations that are, well private In other words secret. If you have a problem with your corporate insurer, good luck, cus they dont have to tell you anything.
Healthcare outcomes in US are worse than any other industrialized country and it costs twice as much. Why?
This is the our morons who represent us who wanna fund healthcare. Isn't it obvious that the govt cannot handle money. I'll talk about healthcare reform, the system is a little tweeked but despite all its flaws it is the greatest system in the world. They are not talking about healthcare reform. People wake up, healthcare may need to be regulated but you the govt regulating it. How much money do they need to piss away before you realize the govt should not handle money. The $ will come from you
Actually, US health care system is rated 37th in the world by the World Health Organization; right between Costa Rica and Slovenia. On average, we way twice as much per capita for health care but receive worse treatment than countries with single payer systems. We would actually save a huge amount of money (around 20 percent of our total GDP) by switching to a single payer system ourselves. And the government might be bureaucratic, but Ill take an inefficient system over a malicious system.
Ya and who ranks that shit, the WHO. And you trust their numbers, please. In my book and 90% of the people think we are number 1 which we are. Believe or not other countries pay more and get shitty care and we actually pay less and get better care. But you won't get that from the WHO. You'd rather have an inefficient system over a malicious system, well our system is neither. The best in the world and 90% of the American people agree with me.
France, Italy, Singapore, Austria, Greece, Ireland, The United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Chile, Dominica, Cyprus, Sweden, Switzerland, Israel, Morocco- all countries that are above America in medical advance. Also, all but 3: Dominica, Morocco, and Cyprus, run on a socialized system.
Please give your American jibberish a rest. There's more to the world than you thieves pretending you're the greatest country in the world. Yes, thieves, not conquerors. The soil you stand on isn't even yours.
Most of those places you listed don't even have toilet paper, now you want me to believe the UK or Chile has better healthcare then us in the USA, Anyone who believes this is insane. Why don't you peddle your communist care somewhere else, and go screw yourself. Calling your owb country theives, you sir ar pathetic. Why don't you go to a country where they have single payer if this country is so intolerant and full of thieves. Get the hell out, or shut the hell up.
If it were that easy for a single father to pack up his things and his kids and move I would. Please, don't delude yourself. No one person made this list of ranks just to throw dirt on America's name. It's solid evidence that no degree of human opinion can change. Get over yourself.
By the way, most of those countries "don't have toilet paper" because the American corporations and "consulting firms" consist of low-life loan sharks. America did this to them. The book is called "Confessions of an Economic Hitman" by John Perkins. Familiarize yourself with it.
Oh ya blame America for everything. Like its our fault for everything. Like I said why don't you leave if its a place where rich evil people take your stuff. So far the only ones taking your stuff is obama and he's gonna take even more if this Healthcare thing gets passed. Why don't you quit while your ahead because I'm sick of this crap, you have no argument you lost before you even got started. You may hate this country but excuse the shit out of me if I dont embrace Chavez I'm not gonna do it
This isn't about blaming anyone. Unlike most brainwashed Americans, I'm not looking at this as a good vs. evil. I'm looking at what's best for me. I don't care if something is uncomfortable to think about, I don't look the other way if it's true. The world isn't a little round and a little flat, and I'm not gonna keep placating myself to cater to my own feelings. I suggest you do the same. Look out at your country. You cannot deny that something is very wrong.
Can't argue there I know there something wrong, the problem is you don't have to look far. Whats wrong is we have radical communists in Washington right now. all I care about is the truth I know it but it seems no one cares.
The truth isn't a reachable goal. Because to know the truth, you'd have to know everything in the world, and in fact, you don't. I promise. Have you even looked up the term communism? Or do you get scared every time you hear the word "socialized"? There is no such thing as right or wrong, but there is such a thing as efficiency, and right now this system of "choice" that our "democracy" provides is not working.
Lol, The ignorance in your posts is amazing. You should consider knowing what youre talking about before you make such baseless claims. WHO is a very well respected organization. They base their rankings on common sense things. such as infant mortality rates, life expectancy, ect. Face it, our system is the laughing stock of the civilized world. And FYI, the vast majority of americans want health care reform, and a clear maj. want at least a public option. 60% for a single payer system.
The truth is we have GREAT HEALTH CARE, but too many freeloaders.. How many on the so called 50 million uninsured using cell phones, driving 40,000 dollar cars, and drinking lattes? Or buying cool ass rims for their ride? Stupid...only the very poorest of the poor, can't actually afford a catatrophic health care policy..who want to buy that when Wendy's is open 24 hours...after a night out spending lots on drinks...I know 20 people who simply don't think they need insurance..leave mine alone
The US is the laughing stock of the world because of their corporate-run system. Insurance companies don't provide health care - doctors do. Insurance companies stand between people and doctors. Insurance companies make money by denying care.
The American system is not health care, it's sick care. WAKE UP AMERICA!
would like to ask those who are against HealthCare reform to name ONE COUNTRY THAT HAS NATIONAL HEALTH CARE SERVICE that has gone bankrupt or is on the verge of collapse or anarchy. People who are against HealthCare reform are IDIOTS!!
wow, people are ignorant, IF U ALREADY HAVE A HEALTHCARE PLAN, AND U LIKE UR HEALTHCARE PLAN, FREAKING KEEP IT! LIKE OBAMA SAID! KEEP UR PLAN! IF U DONT WANT YOUR HEALTHCARE CHANGED THEN DONT WORRY ABOUT IT! DONT COME ON YOUTUBE AND POST STUPID STUFF LIKE 'OBAMA - HANDS OFF MY HEALTHCARE' BECAUSE IT WONT HAPPEN! GEEZ!
That is not true. If any thing in your health care plan changes what so ever then by law if this bill pass you well have to change to the government run health care or you and your health care provider get a huge fine. Its not the government's choose If I get to keep my health care or not.
No, thats not true at all. You learly havent read the fucking bill. Employers will be fined if they dont give any health care to their employees. They can choose between the large number of private options or a single public option to do that.
vote him out.....vote him out.....vote him out.....vote him out......vote him out.....vote him out....vote him out....vote him out....vote hm out......vote him out.....vote him out.....vote him out.....vote him out.....vote him out....vote him out....vote him out....vote him out.....vote him out....vote him out.....vote him out....vote him out.....vote him out.....vote him out....vote himj out.....vote him out...vote him out....vote him out.....vote him out.....vote him out....vote him out..
of corse i'm not talking about the nurses. that actually is exactly what i'm promoting: GET ACTIVE.
you dont have to speak loudly or yell or be rude, BUT GET ACTIVE.
get out and speak. IN TURN!... dont be stupid either.doing things like this distrupts the process. disrupting the process does nothing but makes us look worse. do this wisely. please.
Max Baucus is a tool. He may "deeply respect" the views of hearing attendees, but he is deeply in the pockets of influence peddlers. Baucus #1 Campaign Contributor: Schering-Plough drug Corp Baucus #3 Contributor by Industry: INSURANCE Baucus #4 Contributor by Industry: Pharma/Health products Baucus #5 Contributor by Industry: Health professionals Do you think he values YOUR needs, or the string pullers that let him run again? think it over... Please do not be naive here.
I've come to the conclusion that people who want Universal healthcare are people of unreasonable thinking. I don't want to be taxed any more than I already am for some shoddy health care system where I have to wait 8 hours just to see a doctor. And the two things don't combine well either. If they pass a bill that has public option included, I promise you, prices will rise on both. Get Government the hell out of health care, and let the free market work the way it should.
it's not working the way it is now... open your eyes...
you want to pay more than you need to? if your taxes went up it wouldn't cost as much as your paying today for health care... a single payer system is the best way of doing things your just ignorant! unknowledgeable of what your talking about... look at the top countries in the world and they all have except the USA have a single payer system. France Malta UK Austria. we are ranked 37th in the world for a reason our system dont work!
Why would it be unreasonable? It has been proven to work in many countries if it is managed well. Current health care is unreasonably high and wasteful. Government might be inefficient but sometimes private companies can be even worse than government.
Your job and your OATH when coming into office was FOR THE PEOPLE not for Lobbyist's and insurance companies.... were all watching you Mr Baucus .... if you try and stand in the way of change your name will forever be MUD .... Ok blue dog... or should I say DOG ... people need the public option let me repeat .... PEOPLE NEED THE PUBLIC OPTION..... be a hero not a zero Mr Baucus
Mr Baucus ... you better pull your head outta your behind and realize WE THE PEOPLE voted Obama into office because we want change!! I"m warning you right now.... your political career is gonna be OVER if you ignore the people... we need change and we need a public option!! stop accepting bribes from lobbyists who only have THERE interest in mind.... HAVE THE PEOPLES INTEREST IN MIND!!!!
THE DEM BILL IS AS GOOD AND AS SMART A BILL THAT COULD BE MADE BY SMART HONEST PEOPLE WHO " ARE " CARING OFFICIALS, UNLIKE BUSH OFFICIALS, FAKE, ON ONE AGENDA MOSTLY, BLIND, ARROGANT (for no apparrent reason to me anyway.)LET OBAMA AND THE VERY SMART PEOPLE HE HAS HIRED TO SET EVERYTHING RIGHT! HOW CAN NICE BUT DUMB PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THIS BILL? WELL THEY OR WE SHOULD ALL BE HARVARD GRADS! GEE! I DO KNOW WHO GETS $ OIL, INSURANCE, & U ALL ARE GETTING THE WRONG IDEA ABOUT THIS HEALTH BILL! gop ye
One thing about health reform that needs to happen is that bullshit health insurance companies pull has to stop. I have friend who was paying insurance for years and when he had to have knee surgery they canceled his insurance because of some minor mistake he made on his form years ago. So now he was screwed with paying the bill himself and the insurance company he paid for years essentially robed him of thousands of dollars.
Obama's health care plan will be written by a committee whose head, John Conyers, says he doesn't understand it. It'll be passed by Congress that has not read it, signed by a president who smokes, funded by a Treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, overseen by a Surgeon General who is obese, and financed by a country that's nearly broke.
Almost no one is talking about an actual free market answer to reducing costs and restoring healthcare decisions to where they belong -- between patients and doctors.
Instead of creating a massive, tangled web of bureaucracy to address obstacles arising from government overregulation, we demand that Congress actually allow the free market to work.
Obama just admitted that private companies such as FedEx and UPS work fine. In fact, they are profitable and have delivery systems that are efficient.
But in the same breath, Obama revealed that the Postal Service has problems!
If the U.S. government can't oversee the Postal Service, which delivers just packages, how can it properly handle the medical care of more than 300 million Americans?
You know the answer. I know the answer. The American people know the answer.
just because the USPS has issues doesn't mean health care will. Why aren't school's privatized? They are public right now do you know how many kids go to public schools? by your standards we cant run them properly so we should privatize them.
Kids taught in private schools generally have a better education.
But, I also think that the gov isnt entitled to your money before you are. Do away with the IRS:cutting budget, and apropriate a national sales tax instead. Illegal aliens (not to be confused with legal immigrants), cant avoid paying taxes cause they buy stuff.
You get your whole check and you spend it. No one is going to spend your money more wisely than you.
Repukes stop with the hate, fear and flat out distortion! This Health Care Reform may not be perfect but what else can OUR PRESIDENT do? This country has been in debt for years and it's time that ALL people in this country receive health care!!!!!! All I see from these video's whether it's on CNN, MSNBC, FOX etc.. are angry WHITE PEOPLE mad that times are changing.
Oh and REV. MANNING YOU DUMB A@@ UNCLE TOM, SHUT THE F%%% UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is kind of amazing some "people" think health costs are like buying a car or any other commercial proposition (eg: all the insurance co-sponsored posts on Youtube by varying "people"). You can plan to buy a car or a house: it's your own responsibility and your money allocation--but you can't plan a medical affliction. Not the same. I simply note one anti-health plan person on Ytube had her two fave videos as a) a revolver shooting into a tank, and b) a clip of Milton F'man on "Greed". True!!

My financial advisor newsletter said that the nations recovery came only because President Obama, and Congress worked together and acted swiftly to pass laws to fix things. It also says that the next overhaul needs to be to make Social Security less accessible for retirees who already have a pension, or already has a retirement account. It needs to be easier for the poor to access it.
The reason the repubs are not in favor of universal healthcare is because the repubs are for the rich. The Democrats are for everyone, but mostly the poor and middle class. Most people file bankruptcy because they lose everything because of health issues. We elected Obama because we are all entitled to healthcare. If he does not get Americans universal healthcare, he will not get re-elected to a second term!!
Same old liberal lies! The democraps aren't for the poor or everyone, they are out for your money, that is all. We do need reform, but not government run health care. It would be a disaster. Look at education, postal service, social security and medicare as examples of poorly run government services. I want to see the insurance companies more regulated, if he'll just do that, it would be fine
Why are we entitled to health care? Are we also entitled to food, a home, a car? Where does it end? Someone has to pay for those things. How about individuals WORKING and BUDGETING for all those things and paying for them themselves. What a concept!
Have you seen the unemployment rates lately? People are losing jobs left and right. When they lose jobs, they lose health care.
The right to life assumes equal and affordable access to adequate health care, thus health care is a human right.
Finally, I believe that a community approach to health care is best. As a Christian, taking care of my neighbor is my obligation and builds a good society. It's a social contract that is working in many other places.
Why are we entitled to health care? Well because a little document called The Declaration of Independence says we have the right to life the most basic human right. But people who have preexisting conditions or are denied health insurance care even when they are paying have no other options. what do you expect them to do? thats why as a basic human right we should have health care and if the private insurance want to deny someone then the government must provide another option.
Agreed, however this DOES NOT mean that we should just rush through a plan that would push private insurers out of the market and would greatly raise taxes, making our tax system even MORE progressive which would be a bad thing (see California). I support a public option, but this thing has to be done correctly.
You remit the fact that our rights are only intact so long as they do not infringe on the rights of others.....Just because you want health care doesn't give you the right to force your neighbor to pay for it. Stealing is a crime regardless of who is doing the stealing, whether it be you, me, the mayor, your favorite charity or the government. Thats a truth a lot of main stream hard party liners on both sides have trouble understanding.
Same could be said about social security and a lot of other government programs. Some things though are too important for you to deny participation. You have to be dragged kicking and screaming and be a part of society whether you think it is stealing from you or not. Health Care is a necessary part of society.
You already pay for a lot of things you will never use or be of any benefit to you. At least this is something that can directly benefit you since it is available to any taxpayer.
That's your opinion, fortunately because the US is a republic, the Individual is not defined or constricted by the "opinions" of others.
This country was based on self government.
You imply that all citizens exist to promote the collective. This is not the case. When the collective is no longer beneficial to the individual, the individual has the right to withdraw from the obligations imposed by the collective or society.
Stealing is a crime regardless of who perpetrates it.
Then why have government at all? You could say that paying taxes for anything is stealing then. What does government mean to you?
So I guess you are also against government funded education, scholarships, and grants? Those don't benefit you. At least not directly or not all the people.
Personally I find that the pure forms of capitalism and socialism do not work well. So laws are passed to restrict and control them. Sometimes this ends up being hit or miss but better than the alternative.
Government in this country exists ONLY to protect the rights of the individual to govern themselves.
That was the intent of the ones that founded this country and seeing as how they sacrificed a whole lot more then I ever have, I'm inclined to respect their ideals.
Yes Government Education, Scholarships, Grants etc are a bad idea.
Personally I have issue understanding the inability to realize this truth but to each their own.
I think a good solution would be to give a tax discount if you already have private health insurance so you don't have to feel the pain of paying for someone else so heavily. There are plenty of ways to make Universal Health Care work like it has in other nations who have much better health care systems than we do.
Kind of funny that republicans want to take away our power to vote.

That was so disrespectful to interupt Senator Grassley. If those protesters did their homework, they'd realize that Grassley himself has stated that the healthcare system is broken - and that he believes reform is necessary.

In public places.
In public meetings that have requested respect be granted to scheduled speakers these outbursts were nothing but disrespectful to duly elected Representatives.
I suppose asking you to view these events in context is asking way too much.
maskedphrogg 1 year ago
@maskedphrogg
Pawns. Respect is earned not just given.
the0hawk 1 year ago
@the0hawk
What part of the Senator's request did you not understand?
If you refuse to behave civilly why would you knowingly enter a meeting of civil people if not to disrupt? There is a time and place for effective dissent. This was neither the time nor the place.
Ironically you continue to wonder why such disruptions are so ineffective in obtaining anything but notoriety.
maskedphrogg 1 year ago
@maskedphrogg
I didn't say it was effective. I said they were as respectful as they could have been and they had every right. I didn't even agree with the protesters views, but I support they had a right to say what they did within an open public forum. Or does the first amendment mean nothing any more?
the0hawk 1 year ago
@the0hawk
It was not an open public forum. It was a Congressional Hearing.
Once again, what part of the Senator's request was not clear?
maskedphrogg 1 year ago
@maskedphrogg
An open to the public senate hearing. OPEN FORUM.
The request was to be respectful. And in my opinion they were. They let him go through his entire speech -- uninterrupted. What part of that is unclear? Seriously. We'll just have to disagree.
All they were really doing was pointing out that there wasn't anyone on that panel that represented their viewpoint. What's so wrong about that?
the0hawk 1 year ago
@the0hawk
Derrrr
Open to the public for attendance, but you knew that already and now pretend not to.
It was expressly clear there would be speakers heard and that they had been formally scheduled. The audience was requested to remain quiet and give due respect to the proceedings. This group took advantage of a short pause and willfully and with intent to disrespect the proceedings disrupted the meeting.
We do disagree because you give more weight to Public than Meeting and it makes you wrong.
maskedphrogg 1 year ago

Oh. I see. You can't stand that I challenged you. You want to make me wrong so you are right. What an ego. I get it now.

You do not have the right to force others to Hear You
You are demanding to be given more rights than the man beside you.

maskedphrogg 1 year ago
@maskedphrogg

"America needs a single-payer system."
Since when? The USA has been fine since 1776. What makes this such an urgent time to screw things up?
FlatPelican 2 years ago 2
I believe the chief problem is that insurance has become so expensive those without employee insurance can't afford it and even employers are finding it harder to cover their employee's expenses. The argument isn't really over IF but HOW things need to change. Incidentally, in 1776 insurance of any kind didn't exist. Modern health care is actually less than a century old, and privatizing it was originally supposed to temporary.
obamasensation 2 years ago
@FlatPelican Americans don't have the competence, the ideals, or the means to run a universal health care system for all Americans. It's not that you guys shouldn't run it, but it's that you CAN'T do it. Deep down you guys are so corrupt, that money, debt, and self-interest is all you see when thinking about human lives and healthcare.

If you don't believe me, rich people are already doing this on a small scale by leaving high tax states up north and out west.
scienceofthings 2 years ago
Actually scienceofthings it's very obvious you have no idea of what goes on outside the United States. Here in Canada, it IS guaranteed. In the UK and France, it IS guaranteed. In Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Denmark, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Luxembourg, Monaco, Australia and New Zealand, it is ALL GUARANTEED! How is it we can do this and you can't? Are you really that incompetent that the USA cannot afford to go single payer and SAVE money? Your lies help Satan
AvroBellow 2 years ago
My only comment on that entire praise of the international community. Is that, the United States of America is a place where religion still matters. Europe is not. And, therefore you cannot just throw "satan" around as an insult, can you?
No, you don't know a damn thing about religion in Europe. You all hate it, and soon you'll all become just as godless as Russia became under the Soviet Union.
oreillyfan360 2 years ago
Read my comment again. I'm a Canadian, not a European. I know more about the United States than most Americans. (Like every state capital for instance.) I've lived in the USA as well. As far as religion still mattering, what does that have to do with health care? Does the land that still praises Jesus not believe in helping their fellow man as Jesus taught? Your comment makes no sense. Why cannot the land that still praises Jesus give free health care to all? Jesus would.
AvroBellow 2 years ago
I know every state capital as well.
Including ppl dying.
oreillyfan360 2 years ago

scienceofthings 2 years ago
As an aside, there are two other things. One is that if you think that Europe is godless, I dare you to go to Italy and trash-talk Jesus just to see how long it takes for you to get your ass beat, yet they have free healthcare as well. Two is that the Soviet Union was far less corrupt than the current "free states" that were formerly Soviet. It went from communism to organized crime, to me, that's a step backwards.
AvroBellow 2 years ago
Well, as a DIRECT answer to the first thing.
I am Italian. And I can tell you, that the liberal secularism of my home country is INDEED characteristic of the rest of Europe. Sure, they may be 90% Roman Catholic, but how many practice? Religion is dying there too. No where in Europe is it growing. Thanks to secularism. It matters not though, the Lord cares not how few of his flock follow him, and which are led astray.
oreillyfan360 2 years ago
If you are representative of just how the corruption of man has perverted the original Christian word, it's no wonder that people are leaving religion. I bet god HIMSELF is scratching his head and looking at you wondering "Didn't I make GREED one of the seven deadly sins?" You sir are quite guilty of that. As for me, since I'm not the one trying to claim godliness, my sins don't matter. Difference is, I'm not hypocritical. I don't sin and tell others not to as you are doing here.
AvroBellow 2 years ago
Yeah, so there is no indication that I'm greedy in any of my posts. I can assure you I'm not. The only thing I want in life is to increase the power of my Lord Jesus Christ.
Also, you're sins do matter, everyone will be arraigned before the judgement of Jesus Christ, even you. That is all I have to say to you.
oreillyfan360 2 years ago
My knowledge of other places isn't necessary since I don't vote or live in those places. AvroBellow 2 years ago
Our country is incredibly successful and we are (or used to be) responsible citizen adults.
scienceofthings 2 years ago
People ignorance is disturbing, American and yours alike. Thomas Hobbes wrote in favor of a controller, a king, or group of people and said the masses were children. Unfortunately when we stop being forceful, but rational adults, we get treated like children. John Locke refuted this and was in favor of reasonable adults governing themselves with limited government...sound familiar? That is why the U.S. was successful and was able to provide opportunity.

No, you are still a fool and you are still dismissed. Or in order for your family member to get the drugs they need in the time they need them they have to allow doctors to molest them? Or they were flat out denied the medication? These and other horror stories have already been played out in the very socialized system many Americans have come to idolize.
roeder2135 2 years ago
Oh yeah, and if you think we have the laughing stock of the healthcare systems, then you've been ignoring the hysterical laughter of other people from around the world when they hear about the US trying to move to a socialist healthcare system...or the fact that the UK is warning the US about the dangers of the system. Look it up. Ours might be bad, theirs is much, much worse.
roeder2135 2 years ago
Corporate insurance companies provide less healthcare for your money because each company has to pay for administration, infrastructure, executive bonuses, advertising, shareholder dividends, law suits against other insurance companies, and lobbyists. In addition, corporations are not transparent and not accountable.
On the bright side, corporations maximize profits by cutting wages, denying claims and excluding preexisting conditions.
luditemike 2 years ago
Single-payer eliminates duplication of administration and has no need to pay lobbyists, executive boards, lawyers, or advertising. It is more accountable because everything it does is public record, unlike private corporations that are, well private In other words secret. If you have a problem with your corporate insurer, good luck, cus they dont have to tell you anything.
Healthcare outcomes in US are worse than any other industrialized country and it costs twice as much. Why?

Actually, US health care system is rated 37th in the world by the World Health Organization; right between Costa Rica and Slovenia. On average, we way twice as much per capita for health care but receive worse treatment than countries with single payer systems. We would actually save a huge amount of money (around 20 percent of our total GDP) by switching to a single payer system ourselves. And the government might be bureaucratic, but Ill take an inefficient system over a malicious system.
Bushwacked487 2 years ago
Ya and who ranks that shit, the WHO. And you trust their numbers, please. In my book and 90% of the people think we are number 1 which we are. Believe or not other countries pay more and get shitty care and we actually pay less and get better care. But you won't get that from the WHO. You'd rather have an inefficient system over a malicious system, well our system is neither. The best in the world and 90% of the American people agree with me.
Shadyac21 2 years ago
France, Italy, Singapore, Austria, Greece, Ireland, The United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Chile, Dominica, Cyprus, Sweden, Switzerland, Israel, Morocco- all countries that are above America in medical advance. Also, all but 3: Dominica, Morocco, and Cyprus, run on a socialized system.
Please give your American jibberish a rest. There's more to the world than you thieves pretending you're the greatest country in the world. Yes, thieves, not conquerors. The soil you stand on isn't even yours.
polkaspotsss 2 years ago
Most of those places you listed don't even have toilet paper, now you want me to believe the UK or Chile has better healthcare then us in the USA, Anyone who believes this is insane. Why don't you peddle your communist care somewhere else, and go screw yourself. Calling your owb country theives, you sir ar pathetic. Why don't you go to a country where they have single payer if this country is so intolerant and full of thieves. Get the hell out, or shut the hell up.
Shadyac21 2 years ago
If it were that easy for a single father to pack up his things and his kids and move I would. Please, don't delude yourself. No one person made this list of ranks just to throw dirt on America's name. It's solid evidence that no degree of human opinion can change. Get over yourself.
polkaspotsss 2 years ago
By the way, most of those countries "don't have toilet paper" because the American corporations and "consulting firms" consist of low-life loan sharks. America did this to them. The book is called "Confessions of an Economic Hitman" by John Perkins. Familiarize yourself with it.
polkaspotsss 2 years ago
Oh ya blame America for everything. Like its our fault for everything. Like I said why don't you leave if its a place where rich evil people take your stuff. So far the only ones taking your stuff is obama and he's gonna take even more if this Healthcare thing gets passed. Why don't you quit while your ahead because I'm sick of this crap, you have no argument you lost before you even got started. You may hate this country but excuse the shit out of me if I dont embrace Chavez I'm not gonna do it
Shadyac21 2 years ago
This isn't about blaming anyone. Unlike most brainwashed Americans, I'm not looking at this as a good vs. evil. I'm looking at what's best for me. I don't care if something is uncomfortable to think about, I don't look the other way if it's true. The world isn't a little round and a little flat, and I'm not gonna keep placating myself to cater to my own feelings. I suggest you do the same. Look out at your country. You cannot deny that something is very wrong.
polkaspotsss 2 years ago
Can't argue there I know there something wrong, the problem is you don't have to look far. Whats wrong is we have radical communists in Washington right now. all I care about is the truth I know it but it seems no one cares.
Shadyac21 2 years ago
The truth isn't a reachable goal. Because to know the truth, you'd have to know everything in the world, and in fact, you don't. I promise. Have you even looked up the term communism? Or do you get scared every time you hear the word "socialized"? There is no such thing as right or wrong, but there is such a thing as efficiency, and right now this system of "choice" that our "democracy" provides is not working.
polkaspotsss 2 years ago
Lol, The ignorance in your posts is amazing. You should consider knowing what youre talking about before you make such baseless claims. WHO is a very well respected organization. They base their rankings on common sense things. such as infant mortality rates, life expectancy, ect. Face it, our system is the laughing stock of the civilized world. And FYI, the vast majority of americans want health care reform, and a clear maj. want at least a public option. 60% for a single payer system.
Bushwacked487 2 years ago
The truth is we have GREAT HEALTH CARE, but too many freeloaders.. How many on the so called 50 million uninsured using cell phones, driving 40,000 dollar cars, and drinking lattes? Or buying cool ass rims for their ride? Stupid...only the very poorest of the poor, can't actually afford a catatrophic health care policy..who want to buy that when Wendy's is open 24 hours...after a night out spending lots on drinks...I know 20 people who simply don't think they need insurance..leave mine alone
lostlocke108 2 years ago 2
The US is the laughing stock of the world because of their corporate-run system. Insurance companies don't provide health care - doctors do. Insurance companies stand between people and doctors. Insurance companies make money by denying care.
The American system is not health care, it's sick care. WAKE UP AMERICA!

You do not have the right to force others to pay for your health care.

That is not true. If any thing in your health care plan changes what so ever then by law if this bill pass you well have to change to the government run health care or you and your health care provider get a huge fine. Its not the government's choose If I get to keep my health care or not.
Loyaxxl 2 years ago
No, thats not true at all. You learly havent read the fucking bill. Employers will be fined if they dont give any health care to their employees. They can choose between the large number of private options or a single public option to do that.

Retic92 2 years ago
it's not working the way it is now... open your eyes...
you want to pay more than you need to? if your taxes went up it wouldn't cost as much as your paying today for health care... a single payer system is the best way of doing things your just ignorant! unknowledgeable of what your talking about... look at the top countries in the world and they all have except the USA have a single payer system. France Malta UK Austria. we are ranked 37th in the world for a reason our system dont work!
Gendus1 2 years ago
Why would it be unreasonable? It has been proven to work in many countries if it is managed well. Current health care is unreasonably high and wasteful. Government might be inefficient but sometimes private companies can be even worse than government.

This is bullshit and has to stop.

Obama's health care plan will be written by a committee whose head, John Conyers, says he doesn't understand it. It'll be passed by Congress that has not read it, signed by a president who smokes, funded by a Treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, overseen by a Surgeon General who is obese, and financed by a country that's nearly broke.
viletantrum 2 years ago
Why are all congress members exempt from the health care? If its so great what's the problem?

It can't.
johnnorvaisas 2 years ago 2
just because the USPS has issues doesn't mean health care will. Why aren't school's privatized? They are public right now do you know how many kids go to public schools? by your standards we cant run them properly so we should privatize them.
raidergunz 2 years ago
Thats a very bad example.

It needs to be easier for the poor to access it.
groundhog2008 2 years ago
The reason the repubs are not in favor of universal healthcare is because the repubs are for the rich. The Democrats are for everyone, but mostly the poor and middle class. Most people file bankruptcy because they lose everything because of health issues. We elected Obama because we are all entitled to healthcare. If he does not get Americans universal healthcare, he will not get re-elected to a second term!!
groundhog2008 2 years ago
Same old liberal lies! The democraps aren't for the poor or everyone, they are out for your money, that is all. We do need reform, but not government run health care. It would be a disaster. Look at education, postal service, social security and medicare as examples of poorly run government services. I want to see the insurance companies more regulated, if he'll just do that, it would be fine

Why are we entitled to health care? Are we also entitled to food, a home, a car? Where does it end? Someone has to pay for those things. How about individuals WORKING and BUDGETING for all those things and paying for them themselves. What a concept!
mstatz 2 years ago
Have you seen the unemployment rates lately? People are losing jobs left and right. When they lose jobs, they lose health care.
The right to life assumes equal and affordable access to adequate health care, thus health care is a human right.
Finally, I believe that a community approach to health care is best. As a Christian, taking care of my neighbor is my obligation and builds a good society. It's a social contract that is working in many other places.
ceraines 2 years ago
Why are we entitled to health care? Well because a little document called The Declaration of Independence says we have the right to life the most basic human right. But people who have preexisting conditions or are denied health insurance care even when they are paying have no other options. what do you expect them to do? thats why as a basic human right we should have health care and if the private insurance want to deny someone then the government must provide another option.
raidergunz 2 years ago
Agreed, however this DOES NOT mean that we should just rush through a plan that would push private insurers out of the market and would greatly raise taxes, making our tax system even MORE progressive which would be a bad thing (see California). I support a public option, but this thing has to be done correctly.

im pissed that we have to pay taxes its not even the Law more like forcible laws
KOKID83 2 years ago
You remit the fact that our rights are only intact so long as they do not infringe on the rights of others.....Just because you want health care doesn't give you the right to force your neighbor to pay for it. Stealing is a crime regardless of who is doing the stealing, whether it be you, me, the mayor, your favorite charity or the government. Thats a truth a lot of main stream hard party liners on both sides have trouble understanding.
Twisteddreamer78 2 years ago
Same could be said about social security and a lot of other government programs. Some things though are too important for you to deny participation. You have to be dragged kicking and screaming and be a part of society whether you think it is stealing from you or not. Health Care is a necessary part of society.
You already pay for a lot of things you will never use or be of any benefit to you. At least this is something that can directly benefit you since it is available to any taxpayer.
AzureDrag0n1 2 years ago
That's your opinion, fortunately because the US is a republic, the Individual is not defined or constricted by the "opinions" of others.
This country was based on self government.
You imply that all citizens exist to promote the collective. This is not the case. When the collective is no longer beneficial to the individual, the individual has the right to withdraw from the obligations imposed by the collective or society.
Stealing is a crime regardless of who perpetrates it.
Twisteddreamer78 2 years ago
Then why have government at all? You could say that paying taxes for anything is stealing then. What does government mean to you?
So I guess you are also against government funded education, scholarships, and grants? Those don't benefit you. At least not directly or not all the people.
Personally I find that the pure forms of capitalism and socialism do not work well. So laws are passed to restrict and control them. Sometimes this ends up being hit or miss but better than the alternative.
AzureDrag0n1 2 years ago
In addition most modern nations have universal health care while pretty much most of the third world nations do not.
Why is it that all the powerful nations have it while we do not? It seems to work well for most of them.
AzureDrag0n1 2 years ago
Government in this country exists ONLY to protect the rights of the individual to govern themselves.
That was the intent of the ones that founded this country and seeing as how they sacrificed a whole lot more then I ever have, I'm inclined to respect their ideals.
Yes Government Education, Scholarships, Grants etc are a bad idea.
Personally I have issue understanding the inability to realize this truth but to each their own.
Twisteddreamer78 2 years ago
I think a good solution would be to give a tax discount if you already have private health insurance so you don't have to feel the pain of paying for someone else so heavily. There are plenty of ways to make Universal Health Care work like it has in other nations who have much better health care systems than we do.
