Yea I just got Combine seeing as I got both Live and 2K10 yesterday, yes they are retail stores break street dates here all the time. Luckily this defensive glitch is gone in the full game. But for you to have a good chance to be in the NBA on 2K, you need to do the Combine which is broken in some areas.

Kinda hard to prove if you really have no control since you obviously can't tell from the viewer's perspective, but if it's true, I guess I've lucked out. I haven't had a problem with any of this. The only thing that bugs me is if you run back on defense on a fast break and aren't using turbo, you're guy will turn around and back pedal all of a sudden but the transition from running to back pedaling is so poor that the offense gets like 5 steps on you just from that transition.
I'm at the 2nd example right now, and even if you are being forced into that position, it's actually a good defensive position. In position to help on a drive and in position to close out on the shooter. It's a problem, but just saying, it's actually the right position to be in.
you cud alternate between l and r on d if you hold l and move the left stick your sticking tight to yur man but if you let go out l you wud be able to roam around
How is this a gamebreaker when you prefered nba 2k9 over CH 2k8? NBA 2k9 had control issues that were worse than this and CH 2k8 didnt have any real control issues.

The hi-jack is momentary (a few seconds)...that may cost you points being scored by the opposing team, but how many times in real life do you see a scrub lose their assignment ?!...A LOT!
they lose assignments after picks, screens, or if theres a double and ppl are rotating, etc, they dont just turn around and look out of bounds, or go behind a player with the ball, or just get stuck and glitch while trying to close down an open offensive player

I thoroughly appreciate and respect the Czar's 'error examples'...ALTHOUGH we should be aware that the player's IQ determines the effectiveness of the player on defense...that is simulation at its finest...the COMBINE players are low intelligence and they sag because of it....you will and should see this defensive sag in 2k10 also...It makes sense for the defensive player to sag and you lose control of the player because you VIRTUALLY ARE COACHING a low defense IQ...That's why you build his SKIL

Here's the answer from Blue-Lightning, moderator on 2K Sports forums. What happened is that your player was near the player with the ball and the player running back out to the three point line. Because you were holding down the L Trigger (Lock-Down Defense), your player automatically locked on to the player with the ball.
It is an easy mistake and one that would seem buggy, but the game is actually working as it should. We'll try to better clarify lock-on defense though so this is avoided

How is this a gamebreaker when you prefered nba 2k9 over CH 2k8? NBA 2k9 had control issues that were worse than this and CH 2k8 didnt have any real control issues.

For some reason, This stuff never happened to me on my PS3, maybe its because the early release of the 360? The sliding/moonwalking did happen for about 0.5 seconds tho

Glitch or not the game shouldn't be able to control your player, its YOUR player, you created, so this really doesn't make any sense.

there is no such option in draft combine, and the 4th example has nothing to do with "assist" thats just a glitch keeping u from moving forward

Ronnie on Twitter says that the defense assist was set too high, it will be fixed in the full game.

Ive noticed the same type of defense glitch on 2k9. especially when ur on defense and i put man to man defense, and my PF is standing next to my center. doesnt make any sense.

Is it worth 5 bucks yes!!! even though i really didn't enjoy alot about the combine itself overall its great to play college hoops 2k10 lol. So whenever the demo comes out... and the full game is released oct 6th stop bitching about a 5 dollar game or a free demo.. When the FULL VERSION is released this Oct. umpa got it exactly right... as i said! only 9 players awarness ratings matter... the player u control should be under ur own specific influence and no other!!! its like they added this to help the scrubs who have never actually played any real ball.... it seems quite clear that smoove umpa and my self understand basketball quite well... mby 2k did this in order to make the game more user friendly... for ppl like bullet who dont know shit... any1 even with this 2k is way better than EA NBA LIVE

anybody sayin this GLITCH got sump to do with awarness or whateva its bullshit.N i tell u what..awarness stats and tendencie stats apply only for CPU controlled players..that mean for 9 players (cpu team n yo 4 teammates).Because Shaq for example might have 0 3p tendency..but that doesnt mean the game wont let me get shaq and shoot 3s on every offense...so that awareness thing is totally bullshit..more over not a single player with low defensive awareness in real life would move away like that

imagine how stupid of 2k would this be if this really isnt a glitch and instead its a try to simulate a player's defensive IQ...we might see that on 2k15 not 2k10 tho..cauz its ok if they can make yo player get shaken from a nice crossover or a spin move...which also could lead to your opponent scoring a basket...but lettin em score like that???fuck no...i mean u still just hand em 2points but its the way it happens...its not realistic....so glitch or not they better remove it

The hi-jack is momentary (a few seconds)...that may cost you points being scored by the opposing team, but how many times in real life do you see a scrub lose their assignment ?!...A LOT!

they lose assignments after picks, screens, or if theres a double and ppl are rotating, etc, they dont just turn around and look out of bounds, or go behind a player with the ball, or just get stuck and glitch while trying to close down an open offensive player
if i dont have control of my player i might as well just let the cpu play each other

bullet though u do have a slight point... it is completely ridicolous... you are playing as the player and should have compelte control over his movements... his def awarness rating ect shud not matter because IT IS YOU who control his movement NOT the AI... the fact that you control him actually make the def and offense awarness ratings completely obsolete as you descide where the player goes... thus making the USERS basketball IQ matter... which is the way IT SHOULD BE!!!!!

I thoroughly appreciate and respect the Czar's 'error examples'...ALTHOUGH we should be aware that the player's IQ determines the effectiveness of the player on defense...that is simulation at its finest...the COMBINE players are low intelligence and they sag because of it....you will and should see this defensive sag in 2k10 also...It makes sense for the defensive player to sag and you lose control of the player because you VIRTUALLY ARE COACHING a low defense IQ...That's why you build his SKIL

i am not coaching, i am playing, and example 4 has nothing to do with awareness, its just a glitch, a force field that does not allow you to move, it literally glitches you, has nothing to do with IQ

I respectfully disagree. You have help defense and all type of coaching menu option's when playing 2K basketball...Not every player on defense in their game so called 'GLITCH' with an animation Hi Jack...the combine players should get hi jacked because they are literally scrubs who are not of high basketball intelligence...so no they are not being helped to cover the assignment...they are and should get lost during the games until their skill sets are efficiently developed.

i saw plenty of this in 2k9... i used to play on the same team as my bro and one of us wud just lock ourselves in a certain position... and when defending it is the exact same thing... u get stuck in certain animations or have an imaginary force field holding u back... try to go back to 2k9 and lock ur self as a player and u will witness the same exact thing...

Here's the answer from Blue-Lightning, moderator on 2K Sports forums. What happened is that your player was near the player with the ball and the player running back out to the three point line. Because you were holding down the L Trigger (Lock-Down Defense), your player automatically locked on to the player with the ball.
It is an easy mistake and one that would seem buggy, but the game is actually working as it should. We'll try to better clarify lock-on defense though so this is avoided
