i think he is a possible winner of BC One... hes got a great combination of style and power that most bboyz dont have... i think he shouldve gone rather than El Nino last year
Chang is taiwanese as well i has few friend with dat last name but yeah Toyz is korean haha he says dat in one of his interviews my friends! Or go ask him on face book!
@XrA916 There is a lot of Chang in Korea too, well not as many as Lee Park etc, but there is, I could name at least 3 characters from korean movies named Chang, dont be so quick about claiming it ;)
@XrA916 Oh and i was curious, so i went to wikipedia, there you go bud : As of 2000, there were more than 940,000 people in South Korea by this surname, more than 2% of the population, ahahaha
He's definitely Korean he told me so. My gf has a last name that also looks Chinese but is pronounced differently. It's not Chang-gang* it really sounds like Chong-pong*
@poppinteej/naruto486 you guys do realize that hiphop an bboyin is meant to spread love among the masses right? So your pointless spout about countries and bboy styles is futile. Besides, the greatest bboy of all time is Spy(aka the man with a thousand moves) kno ur roots, respect the oldskool. You must learn.
you people do realize that saying his Korean ancestry gives him certain innate traits is the same kind of logic that gives birth to things like racism and stereotyping. In any case, Toyz is dope so vote for him for Red Bull BC One 2010!
man fuck that crowd, they barely reacted to his combos and sets. i know he messed up a few times, but damn shit was still pretty clean and fresh! toyz FTW!
yes it was all mad clean and fresh and definitely stands out from the US but in comparison to the sets of the entire day you'd know why those reactions are pale.
true that there were lots of crazy crazy sets from other bboys the entire event, still they could show some more reaction anyway. it's not like toyz did the same thing over and over as others. his stuff was original. people should look at that, and see that many of these bboys dance differently and have their own styles.
True, but I'm sure most of the crowd aren't experienced enough to recognize originality. Unless they're all bboys who have can't see too well. But you're right he is original, and everyone deserves their respect. He'll get his, I think it's his first IBE. it only drives them to get better.
Yeah there are a lot of crowds like these in other countries who are not impressed by originality. so many raw ass bboys from the US are not appreciated enough. I gave major props to any unique bboys from other countries. Wing from Korea is nasty, he moves differently from other korean bboys. Japan's got so much talent too damn. Europe has crazy powerheads, Marcio is ridiculous. US has the best originality I think.
europe as powerheads and korea as wing ,is that even a style??? korea has way more and better powerheads btw but to if i were to describe countries with style it wouldnt be possible since it varies. marcio wasnt even there but u are right about one thing though, us does have the best originality i mean after all they started it :)
I don't believe you understand what I said. I said Europe has crazy powerheads that's all. Never said they had the best power, but I think they are definitely up to par with the Koreans. I also mentioned that Wing has a different style from most Korean bboys cause he's abstract and intricate. A lot of Korean bboys move the same way. So what if Marcio wasn't there? Sorry I do know my facts about B-boying, I've learned and talked to some legends and innovators.
My post is not meant in any way to attack you btw. You simply said I didn't know much so I responded. Hope you understand. You're right that you can't label each country with a distinct style, but you also cannot say Korea is better at power than Europe or any other country. I respect the Koreans, they have incredible willpower and stamina along with graceful dynamic moves, but a lot of them lack a dynamic style that separates them from each other. Just my opinion.
I think Toyz is definitely more known on the east coast than anywhere else. I think that's why lot of people don't know him too much. You'll definitely see him if you go to major jams on the east coast.
toyz was sort of an underground bboy before but lately has been getting a lot of attention and has been traveling a lot lately. He's been good and improved a lot in a year.

Not saying this just to argue, but toyz wasn't so underground as opposed to being known internationally. Just saying that in the states he was pretty well known and has been in a ton of 1 on 1 competitions and crew battles all over since like the early millennium.
Anyway, props to Toyz. He's stepping it up a lot even though his style has always been dope. Hope he keeps improving and reps himself and the US in more international comps. And please someone add Domkey and Napalm to the next IBE
