What a lot of people don't realize is that Armstrong actually said, "One small step for A man, one giant leap for Mankind." A communication error glitched out the "a." It gives the quote more meaning.
@hannable70 He meant to say "a", but an analysis of the recording shows the time between "for" and "man" is too short for an "a" to fit. Maybe I'm just used to the recorded version, but I think the intended quote is a bit cheesy. Though what words wouldn't sound trite or banal? Without "a" the quote feels more abstract, like man has accomplished much but this is only a first step, and with the intended quote's meaning still being implied.
@MrBennetzen The 25 % was composed of China, North Korea, Albania, and North Viet Nam. Still, you do have a point. On another video concerning Apollo 13, I was very impressed with the questions the reporters asked. I don't see today's reporters being able to ask questions like that, and even if they were, they probably wouldn't bother because most of the public would neither care about or understand the answers.
people who think this is a hoax are stupid because if it was a hoax the russians who were trying to get their before us would have exposed it. You stupid idiots see a conspirousy in everything . You must have borring lives
I was only three years old in 1969, but I do remember well the later missions, and being a child and looking up at the moon and marveling what humans had done...
i loved this at 12 years old, and still love this wonderfulness.
Using the same energy/money/commitment/excitement to solve the energy/global warming issue... we have unbelievable abilities to reach beyond what we know... in nine years we went from wah? to landing on the moon. So let's galvanize the same energy to save us.. in a 'sexy' way.
I was 11 years old and I saw that live on TV. My whole family was totally in awe and we just couldn't believe that we were living in a time where man would be walking on the moon and would come back to talk about it.
The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbitor has photographed 5 module descent stages sitting on the moons surfice from the Apollo missions in 2009. You can also see this debris from some of the Earths most powerful observatories.............you stupid moron!
@lander4545 To Bart Sibrel an the other moon hoaxers including Bill Kaysing (who also claimed that NASA murdered the entire crew of Challenger because the teacher Christa McAuliffe was going to blow the whistle on NASA): You Lose!

I believe Armstrong has always maintained he did say "a man" and that a split second break up in transmission caused it to be lost.

Seeing Nixon talk to the astronauts makes me sick - he is a main culprit is sacking the space program.

Guess who didn't see it live if at all?
Answer: Soviet Union (USSR)

@MrBennetzen I heard that 25 % of the world's population did not know this event happened.
wardenphil 1 year ago
@wardenphil Then in that case we need to start educating and inspiring the population to take up flying into space instead of Hannah Montana.

It's even more mind-boggling to realise that in only about 60 years they went from flying for the first time to landing on the moon.

This is a great video of the moon landings. It gives you a good perspective on the real time events that took place.
I wasn't around in 1969 yet i watch these images and I am profoundly moved that we as a civilization achieved that feat.
