graphics werent groundbreaking though that wasnt why i played the game, annyway the freedom of choosing what path you take and a wide area to explore without having to follow a straight path made by the creators wasnt there compared to the BG series or Oblivion for that matter, and the skilltree was clanky with far too few choices especially for the mages.

I completely agree with everything you said here. I feel like this game did not live up to the hype. Every interview I watched said that the origins were going to make a huge difference and the stories would be so unique etc. After playing the game all the way through the first time as a city elf and then again as a human noble and now as a dwarf or mage, I'm finding the differences aren't all that huge. A few new dialogue options open up here and there and that's about it. Combat sucks too.

I got DA for Christmas and it's pretty fun so far. I agree with the song that actual involvement in the battles would be nice instead of the WoW style of locking on to an enemy and waiting for them to die. Still, it's a great game I'd recommend to anyone.

Alot of menu's? Nah.. It's not that bad in Dragon Age. The leveling/Skills come rather short to be honest. Kind of like Fable, yet a bit more advanced. The dialogue's can be tiring, specially if you want to test out all the begin stories and class'.

I think it's a fun game, though the consequences of your actions could've been better. Most just give you rewards for being good or if you make bad discissions, some other oppertunities await you. Haven't completed it yet, so I can't fully review.

The reason AC2 is boring at the beginning is that it is introducing new players, giving them a quick overview of the story thus far and then allowing them to learn the basic controls. The problem with this is that most of us have already played AC, and the controls etc are still very similar.

It's because of that that i'd advise anyone to leave AC and play AC2 from the beginning, I can see the original becoming obsolete.

I don't know which you should pick, because I haven't played AC2. AC1 was in my opinion rather boring, repetitive, even if you had alot of freedom. I thought it was stupid you could get away with assassinating anyone you wish. If you're subtle enough that is. I guess it's for the story line.. but meh, I'd chose Dragon Age.

Dragonage is much, much better on the PC. Having a mouse and keyboard pretty much cuts out half the time it takes to fiddle in the menu. Also the game doesn't look like crap.

There are RPGs that are way more menu driven, Dragonage is actually quite streamlined that way.

@ixis RPG doesn't have to equal gratutious menues. Oblivion didn't have tons of menues nor did Morrowind. Japanese RPGs tend to shy away from those as much as possible. It's just that Bioware seems to have some hot fascination with menues.
