  • I'm not a drummer. But I do use this software to the best of my abilities as I do record my own stuff. I'm having trouble with blast beats. Can someone send me a link or let me know the general ins and outs of blast beat formulas? I.E - 16ths on snare, 8ths on hi hat or whatever. Thanks for any help guys!

  • @ArtOfRuin75 - there are different variations of the blast beat - you can hit the hi-hat and bass at the same time, then hit the snare, or the snare and hi-hat at the same time, then the bass. There is also the bomb blast, where they hit all at the same time. Paul Mazurkiewicz of Cannibal Corpse will do double-bass under a bomb blast, so there's all three hitting, plus a bass note by itself, the tempo is just really fast... I'd use 8th notes as 16th tends to sound kinda fake with Beatcraft.

  • @tony93666 cool! cheers man! loads of help. yeah, i watched an actual drummer lesson vid and he was saying to use 16ths on the snare. i guess that works in real life. but yeah, on beatcraft, 16ths sound like fecal matter

  • @ArtOfRuin75 - glad to help out! yeah, the above video drum tracks are 8th notes, but the tempo is like 200, if I remember correctly(it's been quite awhile since I did this). Check out the video "Christianslayer" to hear these drum tracks in a full (black metal) band context. There's a website called "Sick Drummer" that can help alot in understanding extreme drumming, which can help alot when programming beats.

  • Holy fuck, what is this in, 200? 250?

  • @JoyoPrower geez, it's been so long ago I can't remember... 200, I think.

  • @tony93666 I see. Well it was still pretty badass.

  • @JoyoPrower - thanks very much!

  • @tony93666 Welcome!

  • Lol, since everyone is making References...OLD CRYPTOPSY :D

  • hell yeah!!! \,,/

  • DISSECTION

  • sir,can u send some samples of it..i just dont get how the drum rolls or fill in works..i just need the copy of the pattern..thnx a lot

  • @TheCountJames - thank you! yeah, Darkthrone is badass. I love the "Transilvanian Hunger" album...

  • dude thats badass. i just got the full unlocked version today. hope to be able to do stuff like this soon

  • @GMSamuelRhine - congrats! thanks alot, I appreciate it.

  • @tony93666 np i just posted a response of a quick beat i tried

  • @GMSamuelRhine - it sounds good!

  • What bpm do you use??? i use 200 bpm, but i cant change it when i make a new loop to add it and what kit do u use?

  • @MrWcer152 - I use the rock & blues kit. What bpm just depends on what I'm doing... You can make mid-song tempo changes by right-clicking on the drum parts timeline down in the sequencer.

  • i am writing black metal also by conincidence and i have made two song using this software, i need to get better though ahaha howd u get so good?

  • @MrWcer152 - thanks very much! It just takes time & practice. At the time I did this, I had been using this software for almost 3 years.

  • I made a song using beatcraft. I just got the software the day I made the drums for the song so the sounds aren't perfect but they aren't bad. You can see it on my profile thing. The video is Cross Pain "Time Runs Out" with drums. Thanks.

  • @DeathMetalAngel123 - wow! you did pretty good - that sounds badass. The kick drum is abit too loud once that fast double-bass part starts, but, for just getting the software, you are doing GOOD! One thing I do with bass drums sounds is I keep in mind what would be the left foot and the right foot, and I make the left foot not as strong as the right, to make it sound realistic. You can just use the standard single click, or you can right-click on the hit and adjust the velocity individually.

  • @tony93666 Thanks for the advice! I'll try that out. Glad you liked the sound.

  • Is this even humanly possible?

  • @chaosspartan2 - oh sure, there's lots of guys that could do this... Pete Sandoval of Morbid Angel could do this. So could Inferno of Behemoth or Frost of 1349 & Satyricon. Hellhammer of Mayhem could do it too. There are some SICK drummers in death & black metal.

  • @tony93666

yeah im betting they use triple kicks if they can do this

  • @MeTaLLIgReG1 - I'll send you a video from one of the most amazing drummers in all of death metal - you'll be surprised that his set-up is pretty much normal, aside from being a HUGE kit, that is. hahaha

  • @chaosspartan2

yeah i think youd have to have a triple kick set to do this bu it is possible

  • Good job tony93666. I just got the beatcraft and I thought it was rather limited until I hit into your beats.Keep on beating!

  • Thanks man

  • you KILLED IT with those 16th notes LOL

  • killed it good or killed it bad? LOL

  • as in. You killed it in a good way but used them so much it was ridiculous!

  • 'subtlety' is not an ingredient used much in this particular recipe... 'completely over the top' was the goal. hehehehehe ;0)

If you look in my videos you can hear this song with full band instrumentation/full context. I appreciate the comments - thanks!

  • What kit/fx do you use? I can't get mine to sound good at all.

  • I always use the rock/blues kit. Effects are abit of EQ and reverb - you just have to experiment alot and find a sound you like.

  • to change tempos in a song, right-click on a pattern in your sequencer where you want the tempo change to occur and choose 'Flags' then 'Tempo Flag' - enter the new tempo in the pop-up box. A blue flag will appear above the spot where the change takes place. Do the same thing to change the tempo back, or to another time, etc.

  • Not bad. Too much reverb, and too much crash on the blasts

  • yeah, I agree about the crashes... oh well, there's always more to learn!

  • Yeah man. I'd recommend you use the Open and Closed Hi Hats for every snare, and then put a crash every 3 - 4 beats, just to give it some variety. Also, I noticed the drumming sounds better when you take the reverb effect off the snare; I'm sure you know how, but if not, just click FX and uncheck the box.

It'll make it sound a little more "black metal"

  • i wish i had a key for this

  • it's only $40 for the full program

  • You can disregard my question from the other video! I guess you use beatcraft.

  • i have this program but i had the free trial, i created Dethklok - Thunderhorse drums but im english and i cant buy coz i dont use $ money, would i be able to get this at a local pc type shop?

  • they take international orders - money conversion's easy enough online - just look on their website

  • is the program any better with payed version?

  • their capabilities the same, but of course, the demo only runs for 7 days - and with the full version you would get free upgrades, customer support, etc.

$40 is an extremely reasonable price for such a good program, especially for music software, which can be incredibly expensive.

  • I was using acoustica for my solo project songs. I like Acoustica.

  • Feels like it's pretty much the same thing, sure it's fast, but a little bit boring after a while tbh.

    Nice though!

Check out my vid! This vid is a video answer to mine :D

  • check out the video entitled "Christianslayer" to hear it in it's proper context with a full band.

  • thanks very much, everyone!

  • fucking amazing.

  • this is pretty sick

  • Hey, can you make me some thrash metal beats? Exported in MIDI if possible?

  • damn that's fast
