  • Perhaps some remote communities are just UNsustainable via current public supports? Doesn't an average job in an active mining/logging town also pay for a reasonable home and basic education ?

    We have to live near where we can work...This is a fact of life isn't it?

  • @JoFergusons Hi. I had the opportunity to visit Attawapisat a few times now and made some very good friends. Right now they need our help. Not so much trying to figure out why...

    They re 90kms from one of the richest dimond mines in the world. About 100 community members work there. Problem is they cant buy a home because the government wont let them have a mortgage on a reserve.

    There are so many issues and none of them are acceptable reasons for an entire community to live like this.
