This type of technology is useful but applied in the wrong way. For a real drummer to appreciate this, use only a few resolutions to use with special drum modules or software, so you get that shallow tone to the drum when you're not dead in the center, etc. You can't use all these resolutions in any useful way, only for fun.
@ivarthurvi Heh heh heh...What's a 'real' drummer? Are you a 'real' drummer? Maybe Danny Carey and Pat Mastelotto and Matt Chamberlain aren't 'real' drummers, but you are. I've seen those guys go off on a Mandala drum pad. It was sick. Thanks for your viewpoint though!
@Mandrake7171 Yeah, that wasn't the way I meant to type that out. For 'average' drumming, they wouldn't fill the average needs, for the basic set, for additional I can see how that would be used and that makes sense. Didn't see them applied in that way. Carey is one of my favorite drummers too, didn't know he used them, thought he just used triggers of some sort. I was strictly thinking of it being a snare drum, or for a tom, and having all those zones made no sense at first.
Just out of interest, are they velocity sensitive as well? Does how hard you hit it make any difference, or is it just the zones that affect sound?

@abacadian Yes they are fully velocity sensitive from 0-127...from the softest taps to the hardest you can hit!
