Wolverine was in the middle of a nuclear blast and regenerated from something like 1 cell , professor X even states in one of the earliest x men that wolverine can only be killed by cutting off his head and separating it and his body so they cant merge back together.Also look up Omega Red , carbonium or w/e kills wolverines powers and is about as strong as wolverines metal meaning he is his only real threat... Thanks to the USSR no less lol.
