I don't understand the national pride. Only thing that connects Le Banner with the other French citizens is the country named in his ID.
You being citizens of the same country does not help him a single bit in the ring, so why the pride?
He is phenomenal fighter, a force of nature in the ring, and he also happens to be French. Thats all.

@ledakoulo yo I'm french and you're right, but it's a natural sentiment to support a fighter from our country, more than an irish fighter or i don't know, cause in a certain way he represents france (in my case) ... If I follow your thought, for exemple to support our national football team (currently, i'm more ashamed of her than anything but anyway) is an aberration ? But if you're right where is the beauty of the sport ? Nothing will ever give you emotions ...
