It's not so bad. The good thing is, you get to see the map anytime you want tho you travel 3-D in it.

Why didn't you just make a map? Pencil and paper too complicated for you? Even without a map it's not that difficult to navigate compared to a dungeon crawler like Wizardry - there aren't any teleports or such which would make navigation difficult.

I loved this game. At first I found it really hard, but later I could do the whole game easily. Just don't get discouraged by the huge dungeons. The best thing is to explore the entire dungeons and map them.  Even if they contains a lot of dead-ends, it allows your character to level up in the same time, which is a necessary in this game.

Why did you annihilate the Giant Sword? I know it restored HP...but does it mean the weapon is weaker?

It's probably a mistranslation that should have said "used the Great Sword". It doesn't cause it to get weaker or break, it's merely using it like any other item.

In the meantime, Etrian Odyssey I and II are extremely good dungeon crawlers in the vein of Arcana.

I love this game so much, and Arcana's boss battle music so phenomenal. The style & ambience are great.  The story is a little weak because of the bad translation, but everything else is superb (although you're right; this battle does get boring... but it IS the last one at least lol).

I remember fighting Rimsala, she's easy if your level is really high or you use Attack and Defense Impair for half of the battle.

This has got to be one of my favorite RPG's for the SNES besides Final Fantasy 4.

i ended up losing i used up all my eement all my cards and everything else then she got me

i was so pissed cause i made it through that giant maze of a place just to get killed
