Good thinking here, but encouraging the unaware to not vote will only be effective if you only allow majority winners to hold office. This means that you would keep any candidate out of office unless a majority of eligible (not registered or participating) voters voted for them. If we actually do this, there's a strong chance we just wouldn't ever have any office-holders.

I agree people should be informed before they vote. However to tell anyone not to vote in democracy is total shit, its "we the people" not we the minority... Voting is not for some people its for everyone. It's how we the people works in our land of the free. I feel the minorities of people trying to rule our contry are about to wakeup to a new generation that wants both the demos and repubs gone.

Good thinking here, but encouraging the unaware to not vote will only be effective if you only allow majority winners to hold office. This means that you would keep any candidate out of office unless a majority of eligible (not registered or participating) voters voted for them. If we actually do this, there's a strong chance we just wouldn't ever have any office-holders.

i doubt there is anyone out there that truly believes that they are going to die if they don't vote. the whole point of the campaign is to overcome voter apathy that messes things up IN THE FIRST PLACE. How would our country be differentif a couple hundred more people had voted for Gore in Florida? The truth of the matter is, while it would be nice for all voters to be educated on the issue, it is more important that they fulfill their civic duty and elect someone to represent them.

on a side note, I noticed you said demos last. also, the republicans msg is 'dont vote' because with the recent polls, many people dont think the prez is doing a good job. Reps always tend to vote, where as democrats are sometimes split or dont campaign. things changed this year though.

The problem is, and maybe that's the libertarian in me talking, but I get the feeling that if one were to be truly informed about the candidates, truly informed about the world and the power strsctured that run it, one would then NOT vote!
You wouldn't vote for Dems or GOP, and you wouldn;t vote 3rd party because even if they won, they would have no support to accomplish anything.
