The rule was unclear - Alonso should've been given back the position and Schumacher should have been put back to where he was, but no stupid penalty. It's the FIA's fault, not Schumi's or Fernando's.
its pretty clear cut, from a regulation standpoint, that this was completely legal. the only possible explination that the stewards should have is it was comonly thought at this point that there was no overtaking allowed. but still, the regulations allowed for this to happen at the time. schumi shouldnt have been penalised.
Its typical of the FIA really...when a driver cleverly exposes a loophole within the rules....the FIA feel like clowns afterwards and change their rules & punish.
It happened with Hamilton in Malaysia 2010....there is nothing in the rules about weaving and Lewis very cleverly tried to break petrov's tow.
..they still reprimanded Lewis and punished him this year for that move last year.
FIA are a bunch of spastics.
Drivers like Schumacher & Hamilton are the class acts of F1.
if that was hamilton in schumachers place in this video then hamilton would have got 10 penalties and abuse from the spanish fans, but because its schumacher, nothing
@beyblader10171 you have no idea what u r talking about and i'm guessing that you never watched the race. you r just a schumi hater, hahaha. schumi did get penalised you noob!!
schumi is rubbish, beaten by rosberg last season and this season rosberg is beating him on points ! LOL not to mention ross brawn are designing the car to suit michael and he still cant beat rosberg LMAO
@beyblader10171 AAh the usual anti schumacher moron. Rosberg is 4 points head of Michael, big deal. Michael is 42 years old and past his peak. He has also had more bad luck with reliability and accidents than Rosberg. So if anything Nico should be a lot further ahead than he is. And where are you getting this crap about Mercedes designing the car for him and not Nico? Please show me one shred of evidence for this. If they are why does Rosberg outqualify him most of the time? Idiot.
@beyblader10171 If it is no disadvantage why do all sports players go downhill after they hit 40? In physical sports the answer is obvious as its because they arent as strong/quick anymore. If this is the only thing that causes themto lose an edge then why do snooker players stop performing once they get into their 40s? Its a completely non physical sport yet greats like Steve Davis and Stephen Hendry arent as good as they were when they were younger. Explain how age makes no difference please.
@beyblader10171 Rosberg has always been a good qualifier, hes reknowned for it though his career. However you will notice that Rosberg sometimes struggles for race pace, and shumi quite often catches him up and challenges him during a race, also since his return shumi has been the best starter on the grid by a mile! Also, in 2010 the car was designed for Button lol. Funny thing is, i used to hate shumi/ferrari in his glory days, but since his comeback ive really been rooting for him. Wierd lol
admitingly ive always never really liked schumi, he's tactics in particular, but even if he doesn't succeeed, i still in a sense, enjoy him because he adds excitement to the sport which is good. especially recently
Schumacher deserved that position, Ferrari say they knew the rule and thats why Alonso didnt defend, when really we all know that Ferrari though the race was back on and fernando was just caught napping by schumi. Everybody did, because they all raced to the line. That rule was fucking stupid, and to be honest, he only got fucked for it was because Damon Hill was the race steward at this race, he saw the oppertunity to get one over michael. I might be English, but i was never a Hill fan...
That rule didn't exist when Schumacher made the move, though. According to 40.7 Schumacher could overtake after the SC line (which he did), but 40.13 made no mention of it being disallowed.
The rule was changed later, which was pretty hypocritical.
You're wrong. Article 40.13 said : "If the race ends whilst the SC is deployed,", nothing more. And in this case, 40.4 says that you have to keep Yellow flags and SC board :
"When the order is given the DEPLOY the SC [...] all the marshal's post will display waved YELLOW flags and SC boards FOR TH DURATION OF THE INTERVENTION."
So the green flags withdraw the SC's deployment and therefore the race has not ended under article 40.13 conditions.
@SchumiSutil Not at all. The rule said that if the race ends in SC period, NO OVERTAKING ALLOWED. The race ended in SC period indeed, so Schumi got penalised well. Read carefully the rules. I read it just after the incident and he desserved the penalty
Stupid : just read article 40.4 which prove that race didn't end in SC period, inwhich all the flags are yellows with SC boards. As it was the case in Australia 2009.
@SchumiSutil So, why the Safety Car in the last lap? If the race must be ended in green flag, why they only put the green flag in the last meters? It's stupid! The race ended in SC period, as Ferrari told Alonso not to care about his positions and FIA penalised Schumi, as simple as that.
@Blindkiller64 The Race enden not in the Safetycar as it was Safetycar in this Lap and the Sc turned into the Box BEFORE *BEFORE* the freakin finish line. Green flags were shown which stated clearly(at the rules that applied at the time the race took place) that the track is free for racing. The maneuver was legal, Hill wanted to punish Schumi for being way better than him.
The rule was unclear - Alonso should've been given back the position and Schumacher should have been put back to where he was, but no stupid penalty. It's the FIA's fault, not Schumi's or Fernando's.

@gatonegro6 lo siento, clásico error.

@SchumiSutil First of all, the Race ended in SC period because the LAST LAP OF THE RACE was started in a SAFETY CAR PERIOD.
Secondly: don't call me stupid when I did not insult you in any case. A bit of respect.
Blindkiller64 4 months ago
@Blindkiller64
Since when the ends of the race means the beginin of the last lap ? The race ends on the chequered flag !
So the last corner was under green flags and not under SC. Therefore the race has not ended while the SC was deployed. As simple as that !
