  • how to install a processor by me :

step 1 : remove the heatsink

    step 2 : PANIC!!!!!!!

    XDDD

  • This looks like it was made in the 80's for some reason lol.

  • @balzich14 i know, i think its the audio/music

  • damn very well done video

  • Sana naman may tatak na sa future na

    "AMD Bulldozer"

    "Made in the Philippines"

(just dreaming if that would happen, the prices would be so low)

  • that pc is what i'm using right now while typing this comment

  • I assembled a pc without those wrist pads chuchuchu and I don't had ESD's.

    --

just don't touch the insides with wet and sweaty hands( don't let your sweat touch any parts)

    and

use the anti-static pads provided by the motherboard

  • do I really need the strap? l

  • hmm my athlon II got forced out of its socket and did a double back flip and still survived and is now allowing me to type..

  • @MrPandawesome no your keyboard is allowing you to type

  • drill screws in!!! are you dumb have you even got any qualifacations?

  • this sounds so 1995

  • my computer got shut off itself it into infected virus but still my computer got fix so thats okay i guss i works

  • Its funny how AMD still use the clip system on the AM2/3 sockets

  • carefully twist and remoove the heatsink (YANK!)

  • 8slots for ram , wdf ? :D

  • Thumbs up if you're to scared to do this yourself!

  • @Erik2Ammo im going to the shop:D

  • @mansoor619

i just want to tell you good luck! (we're all counting on you) ;)

  • @Erik2Ammo dude thats all what i need:D

  • @Erik2Ammo HA wait until you try an AM3. The heatsink install feels like the motherboard is going to crack.

  • @Erik2Ammo sorry. had to thumb you down XD

  • that thermal paste is needed to be there?

i thought it was some crap that got stuck on there D:

    i wiped it all off

  • @henrytakeover mmm, do you wiped all the thermal paste??? ...your computer is still working??? ¿?

  • @JoseCadimaQ i got some more thermal paste

and a new cpu fan with it so im good

  • To think with modern Intel heatsinks you push in 4 pins and you're good to go

even though all stock ones aren't good for much other than nothing. They are free though, so there's an upside.

  • You need ti apply thermal paste to the CPU before you place the heatsink onto the motherboard

  • 8 ram slots

  • If the heatsink has the pad on the bottom do you still have to apply thermal paste to the top of the cpu?

  • i never use thermal paste, i just blow a massive load on my CPU and carefully place a slice of bologna on top.

  • great concept

  • Few people actually give a shit with anti-static bands anymore, just touch a metal part of your case. They make such a big deal about it!

  • static wristbands aren't nessesary. to ground yourself just rub any metal part on your computer

  • @sofnsable Better safe than sorry. Besides, you'd have to be constantly rubbing it to ground yourself, once your finger is off the metal part you aren't grounded anymore.

  • @mario11168 Oh, I didn't know that. Well, thanks for telling me.

  • This video starts like any 80's educational program.

  • 3:40

NEVER use a electric thing to move the screws it could easily have to much power and destroy the thread

  • @crydepunkmuffin Never use a power tool to turn the screws, it could very easily strip them.

  • @teetertoter3

    i agree

  • @crydepunkmuffin A ryobi electric screwdriver could damage the threads? You're lacking in knowledge of shit power tools. NO electric screwdriver could do any serious harm.

  • 20 people resulted in failure

  • @Luminiq1 if it doesn't fit, it's probably for the wrong socket.

  • @panesyboy1 While the power is still on? what the hell? No one mentioned doing anything around it while the power is on. Whenever I was installing something on my motherboard or plugging things in 'n' out I always plugged all the main cables out first, mainly the power cable, I think anyone does the same. So discussing that would be ridiculous. I'm just commenting that additional equipment for the whole thing is useless. But I think I know what you're saying, thanks anyway. I have a new CPU now.

  • @panesyboy1 yes I know, but what are the chances and possiblities? 1>1000 000 ? I've seen people doing the whole thing even without sticking to those rules. The cpu chip might be quite sensitive but motherboard itself, afterall it all depends on the area and surroundings. You can have socks made of cotton and at the same time your feet can be on a carpet but nothing bad would occur. As I asked before so I am now once again, what are the possibilities?

  • "3:13" sounds like someone getting a slap

  • This video is very good and helpful, thanks for uploading this .

  • @4tt1 though do I really need to use 'wrist-straps' and stuff like that? how can i possibly damage the thing with 'static electric energy' im not iron man

  • so, is this supposed to take a lot of force?

  • WHOA WHAT MOTHERBOARD IS THIS!

  • Will the speed of the internet be faster if you change ANY part of hardware in your computer? lets say the processor? Or are these things not related?

  • @Learncountriescom No, the speed of the internet is not affected by any of the computer parts, like the processor. However, the wireless internet card which goes into a PCI slot can be upgraded to improve internet speed I do believe. You might want to look into that yourself, though, because I am not sure.

  • @drzaius333 Thank you my friend

  • @Learncountriescom You're welcome.

  • thank you...!

  • alliteration! 1:47

  • hi there ive just put in a new processer .. when i switch it on the ststem turns on i have power going to the fan .. but nothing comes on the screen ?? anyone able to help me

  • Normally you'll hear error beeps, refer to the manual to know what component is faulty. (e.g. video card or memory) If you don't hear any beeps, then either you have a separate mini speaker that you didn't install to the motherboard, or your main-board needs 2 power connectors: one P4 four-pin power plug AND the 20/24 pin power plug. Loads of people forget to plug in the Four pin plug, thinking the "big plug" does it all. Last possibility is that the main-board is dead.

  • @drterrybrown did you connect the 4 pin connector to the motherboard? did you put it in correctly?

  • That is ALOT simpler than I thought it would be... I CAN DO ANYTHING NOW! AAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • wow the first screw in the heatsink looks like ti was screwed in too tight lol

  • look at the ram slots :D

  • Re-installing a heatsink for my AMD athlon xp, this is so fucking frustrating putting the clips back in, they have 3 plastic tabs, the more pressure i try to put the clip down to attach onto the tabs the more i worry that im going to bust a hole in motherboard, if anyone has any advice then please tell me, thanks

  • Why is this so far-fetched? People are just idiots....They try and fool you.

I'm still confused to this manner, even today. Why are things made harder than they're supposed to? To scare people away?

Jesus, I self-taught myself the art of processors and C++ for some time now and I'm 13.

  • just to tell you guys if you by a Thuban you can you use the stock air cooler but they are a pain to install.

  • i remember my first time to remove my heatsink.. i force it then my processor stick on the heatsink lucky it dosent cost any damage.. im still using till now

  • Old!!!!!

  • ghetto

  • pIII's were so much easier.

align the "socket" and drop it in, no paste, no fans, no worries.

  • Makes it look easy.... until...

"Damn, who made it this way! What were they thinking! Why do I have to press this hard! Did they make this for people on planet Krypton? AM I SUPPOSED TO PRESS THIS HARD OR WILL IT BREAK IT? DAMN IT ALL TO HELL."

  • f*ck the computer man il do it myself

  • My old Packard Bell has a difficult heatsink. I'll almost as if the CPU was developed with it :P

  • thanks for this video tutorial.. now i know how to install my cpu... tnx a lot, keep it up! :)

  • "If voltage is applied before the heat sink is fully installed, the processor will overheat, and FAILURE will result!"

    lmao

  • @DcTheLeet DO NOT APPLY ANY POWER TO THE SYSTEM UNTIL THE HEATSINK IS -FULLY- INSTALLED. IF VOLTAGE IS APPLIED BEFORE THE HEATSINK IS -FULLY- INSTALLED, THE PROCESSOR WILL OVERHEAT, AND -FAILURE- WILL RESULT.

  • lol this guys sounds like carl sagan brings me back to the old days ;)

  • I couldn't contain my self after sing that mother board...Yes,I Jizzed.

  • This helped quite a bit, granted, I am a noob with this, so a step by step tutorial with video greatly helped.

  • My god what a computer!

  • "And knowing is half the battle!"

  • thats allot of processors

  • ya kno il end up shovin it in they way that looks best and smashing it to bits, 80's condom vid or not

  • Do you need to install software for the CPU?

  • @ConMusician

Only Cool'n Quiet, if you want this function.

But just make shure that your motherboard BIOS is the latest version avaible. (if it isn't, download the latest)

  • Keep yer straps clean folks!

  • 8 ram slots wow my mobo has only 2 -_-

  • @basbas63

    LOL?

    I thought the minimum was 4 D:

  • @TMNoob3 lol i really have 2 slots for ddr2 with max 4GB

  • @basbas63

    Sux :P

  • @TMNoob3 not really i now have 4gb and a 32bits windows xp so w/e

  • In the processor Box, u get the heatsink, processor and thermal paste all-in-one?

  • @uptight245 yes

  • @F2Preview Thanks for the info....

  • @uptight245 you will for sure get a cpu and a heatsink but dont always have the thermal paste

  • Are we suddenly back into the 90's? What's with the quality and music.

  • AMD all the way for me.........

  • @dwt66 me 2 8)

  • This is an awesome video

  • Comment removed

  • @lakeb0dom nope

  • I swear to god I thought he was gonna say "IF YOU APPLY POWER BEFORE THE HEATSINK IS FULLY INSTALLED, THE PROCESSOR WILL EXPLODE." this video makes this shit seem like we're handling a fuggin bomb lol

  • @arterialshadow a lot of AMD processers actually end up going to like 320 celcius + without a heatsink and go up in smoke or catch fire.

  • @cryptsys o.o oh....thats...not good o.o

  • @cryptsys Yea but thes shut down when reach 80-100C -.-"

BTW they wont if you don't have motherboard ... but that wouldnt work good whaddaya think?

  • @maphantom Not without a heatsink, it takes no more than one second for it to start smoking. its incredible how fast it burns up.

  • @cryptsys wow than i must be lucky :D i did that and all that happened was shutdown after ... 3-5 sec max ... but it worked later ( i tried this many many times with old processors)

  • gosh the AMD 64 athlon SUCKS INTEL FTW INTEL FTW AMD SUCKS INTELS BALLS!!! AMD SUCKS

  • I like how he says cam shaft

  • 2006 lol

  • Baahhh!.. 8 RAM slots>!?! I want this.. :P

  • I don't have an wrist strap and can'[t get one ( 4 tomorrow no where in stock, online will take days!!)

  • @Avataryoutuification simply touch a metal part on the computer or something metal you will discharge, discharge every now and again

  • Wow, building computers is a lot easier than I once thought :D

It's all like lego to me now! Muahaha!

  • @SirSexyAlot Yeah! Just don't accidentally plug in the power connectors wrong, or your 150 dollar "Lego" wont work, and good luck getting a refund!!

  • AMD SUCKS INTEL FTW

  • @jazz15081 INTEL SUCKS AMD FTW !!

  • lol how he says the processor will overheat and FAILURE will result

  • wow well ima make a tutorial on how to install some "State of the art" technologies....

this could be useful for my schools Tech Class. they use windows 98

  • music sounds like a 1980's children education video

  • @danimoth2 lol For a sec I thought Reading Rainbow was going to come on after this...

  • @danimoth2 "Proper condom use"

  • @danimoth2 yep

  • OMG soo many ram slots

  • @agagzly theyre probably for ddr1 4mb slots anyways ;)

  • @xkrnbanditx DDR1 is actually not very old, or slow. You might be thinking of SDRAM.

  • @a7x5631 yeah probably, i dont know old age specs that well

  • lol...i would not use a drill...too much static electricity. But nice video

  • This is like a 1990 heatsink, lol.

  • so wait do you have to apply thermal compound? and do all processors come with its own heat sink?

  • ah,classic processors.

  • @CobraProductionsTV not really that classic...

  • If I'm spending 100 bucks on an AMD Phenom X4 (Quad Core), I'm spending 40-60 bucks on proper cooling for it, why chinch on protection?

  • i recently upgraded from P4 2.40 to 2.8 but when i start up the computer it turns off after 30 sec. i figure that the processor heats up. when i enter bios the processor is stable at 84C but as soon as it starts loading windows it turns off. please help

  • @alanibanez Your Heatsink probably did not set right which means you need to take it off and set it flat on the CPU and Clamp is down. Another thing you might want to do it Re-apply some thermal compound and flatten the compound out to a nice smooth layer so it fills in the little gaps when your heatsink clamps down on the processor

  • @Stingshot the guy who sold me the processor installed it for free. well i figured out that the sink was loose as you mentioned. the thermal paste was dirty and all around the place so i had to clean it up and since i didnt have any i used what was left which was a lot. so after i cleaned all the dirt off and removed the dirty thermal paste my computer ran fine. now the only problem is that HT is not working right and i will have to put the old processor back and buy thermal paste.

  • I tried cleaning the heatsink today by only removing the fan and brushing off the soot-like dirt lodged on the HS and the fan itself. Now my pc is not beeping anymore. I would like to clean the HS throughly but am afraid to mess up the thermal grease... too tricky and scary

  • soooo... if you buy an AMD processor you also have to get a heatsink?

  • You should get a heatsink with the processor.

  • Aren't you supposed to install computer hardware while the computer is turned off, and there is no electricity running through it, and no danger of getting electrocuted?

  • Good! what happens when you supply power without the heat sink?

  • Theres 8 slots of Ram on that motherboard ?!?

  • Lol,ya but it old video lol

  • 2:00 failure will result mwuahahahahah

  • lolol, epic fail :P

  • so how do i remove it? The Installation was easy, but I cant get it off

  • can anyone tell me how much it is to get a processor installed in a laptop by a store?

  • depends on what CPU for expamle "only better versions of the cpu you got may work or you will need a better laptop or a laptop with room for a mobo upgrade" but i would say 220UK witch is $300

  • @doomangel444 laptop processors are more expensive than one for a desktop to begin with, and you'd end up paying them $100-$200 to take a couple screws out,and swap the cpu's and then fasten the screws. there are quite a few videos on youtube that show you how to do it, DIY is always cheaper(if you don't rush) and honestly,it's fun

  • how do u know when ur processor is not working? my computer turns on but monitor goes to sleep. the hard drive is good it has windows installed on it but i dont know whats wrong. the computer turns on but i cannot see the f1, f9, f10, etc. the towers keeps on and the litlle on light turns orange and then goes off but the computer keeps on all the time .pls help me.. thank u

  • do you hear beeps when you turn on your pc?

  • no, there is no beeps. the task led just turns orange after a few seconds and the monitor says no DVI(no digital video input) detected and the monitors goes to sleep and my tower keeps running like normal. and it doesnt have any beeps nor noises. just normal.

  • @XDEMENTE3 , sounds like you killed the motherboard my friend, cut your loses and move on lol!

  • more than likely your video card

  • @swiftmpc its not my video car. i replaced it already and it still does the same thing.

could it be my processor? the computer doesnt even show BIOS

  • oof, you didnt mention not having BIOS show up

  • The Advanced Micro Devices Phenom II series of processors are very good central processing units as of December 15th 2009.

  • That computer has 8 ram slots 0_0

  • it needs 12.

  • @MrShfinky so i got 4 slots

  • servers

  • @MrShfinky back then

  • @MrShfinky too bad it can only get to 4GB

    T_T

  • @MrShfinky NO SHIT? dude, I'd Kill For 8 Extra Ram Slots.

  • @MrShfinky sadly they are only 512mb each, so max 4 gigs.

  • @MrShfinky Server Motherboard ¯\(-_-)/¯

  • @MrShfinky That shit must run as fast a fucking bullet x8

  • @MutilateYOU I only saw 2.

  • my processor is really loud what do i do to make it quieter thanks.

  • Well you're processor isn't loud the fan is, to get a quieter one go online or go to you're local computer store and get a new heat sink, clean off you're processor with rubbing alcohol, dry it off make sure nothing is on the proccesor spread you're thermal grease and then put on the new processor.

  • You neeed rubbing alchool to entirly clean the metal. + you didnt clean the processor surface before applying the heatsink, you putted your finger on, your finger have grease on it. grease + heat = fire.

  • no...

  • Please do not take an offense. There is actually wipes for this type of electronics at Office depot next to the air spray to dust off. Do not squirt alcohol or windex to LCD monitors either, it can sip into the actual display. There an actual youtube clip on how liquid sipped into the LCD. Intel CPU need thermal grease to pass to the heatsink.

  • Yes, there's are of course. but rubbing alcohol still work. i personally use superwash to clean thermalgrease, clean 10x better and faster. for lcd's i use glass cleaner. ;) I use glass cleaner for lenses for camera too.

  • Спасибо реальная информация

  • (asakaolol) 1. the processor you buy has a socket type which has to match the motherboard. 2 you probably have a mid tower case (mainstream) so i would recommend getting a Micro atx rather than an atx, micro atx is smaller in size just in case your case is a bit tight. 3 if you have a dell/hp or any other brand name, you will have to format your hard drive before you install your new motherboard/cpu, make a bootable cd, set your bios to boot to the cd or dvd drive. (my opinion) buy a corei7 !

  • i need some help,

im planning to buy a core 2 quad processor but i heard that it's impossible to install to an unmatch motherboard,

    my question is,

by buying the right motherboard, is it possible to replace it on my CPU case?

  • Most likely, and if it´s the same size, then sure.

Chances are you´ll be looking at an ATX, so if your old one is ATX, then it will be no problem.
