  • That thunderbolt in the distance was the one I saw but it was closer to the building on the left and looked like it got a new paint job.

  • lol that reminds me some silent hill shit man

  • We have one of the Thunderbolts on top of Calhoun Dormitory at University of Cincinnati. Walking back to my apt form classes on the firs wednesday every month give me the chills and I can't help but stop and stare as the thing screams across campus.

  • i want to see all the thunderbolt 1000/1000T siren before the t128s move in

  • I think i can just about see it in the distance, wonder why it seems to be moving so quick :D.

  • @cindy1000000 it moves so fast because it is set on the highest setting at 8RPM. 2RPM is the slowest it goes.

  • I like the wind up, it echos very creepy

  • i see the 1000 way out, i can barily see it rotate, but i see it.

  • It's interesting how the T-bolt 1000 wavered during the alert signal!

  • WOW!!! The thunderbolt 1000 sounds very scary great job i love it!

  • i shit my self when i here this

  • Damn that sounds creepy, same alerts are when a war starts, Like bombing or nuclear warging, radiation ect

  • lol, there was a tornado warning yesterday and the sirens went off, sounded just like this but there was no tornado

  • well wheres the tornado then ?

  • it just scares me when it starts and im like holy shit a TORNADO!!!! :P

  • Wow that's awesome this one is my favorite how often does it go off every month or something like that?

  • Wow BellyJae was that siren on top an old apartment or something anf how far is it from where you live?

  • This was taped downtown. I live 15 minutes west.

  • Jesus that noise gives me chills...

  • silent hill 2 kinda lol

  • Damn doesn't that like burst your eardrums or something being that close to it?

  • nope.

I've been as close as 70 ft and my eardrums are fine :)

  • wow that is scary

  • That 1000 is rotating.... quickly. More than 8 rpm. O_o

  • They where creating a chord there for a second... thats cool =)

  • I hope you can go back to this spot this year and video this during a tornado warning by the way i really enjoyed your recent siren videos they were cool

  • hahahahahahah that would be pure awesomness

  • The wind down is coo as hell

  • The 1000T in the background sounds like its a 4/5 port set at chopper level 3.

  • It's actually chopper level 4. :)

  • The 1000 sounds 7ish to me. What do you say?

  • Also has a 6 port rotor.

  • Yep, the harmonics are in major tone, and the sound is just about right for 150V (Terminal 3).

  • Hey, there are some people running(PANIC) I THINK on the road.

  • LOL, if they are running, i think its because they are trying to get across the street before the light change. Our sirens go off every first Wednesday of the month.

  • @BellyJae i remember that from 10 yrs ago.

  • love that thunderbolt 1000t sound in the backround

  • 196 sirens in Hamilton county. 175 belong to the county and 21 are individual Fire station Sirens that also are sounded when the county activates theirs. I finally got a map of the siren locations and am going to start photographing them all. I didn't realize how many different sirens there actually are in Cincinnati. Seen some SD-10's this week. I live in Delhi and can hear at least 5 seperate sirens.

  • No, when Hamilton County referrs to how many sirens they have, they mean how many are in their system.

  • I live in Delhi too :)

  • I'm sure.

  • If you are wondering what happened to this 1000, it was taken down. Hamliton County bought a new siren to replase this old girl

  • If this is the one that's visible from Fort Washington Way, then it's still there. I work at Newport on the Levee and drive by it a lot.

  • It is. It's set a 8 rpm!!

  • What makes you say it was replaced?

  • Broken rotator. They couldn't afford to fix it and the chopper burnt out like that 1003 in PA.

  • How did you find all of this out? Are you sure you're not making this up?

  • why did they replac this thonder bolt 1000

  • They didn't. He makes this stuff up about this siren, because of how high it's set on both the chopper and the rotator.

  • i think this is MUCH higher than most tbolts.

  • yes, most t bolts aren't set to spin that fast. that doesn't mean its malfunctioning.

  • Actually, the pitch is MUCH higher than most.

  • wow that 1000 needs tlc cause shes rotating REALLY fast and set on the highest xformer/chopper tap, level 7.

  • Its set to spin that fast. The tbolt has 4 speed settings, 2RPM(the slowest), 4RPM, 6RPM and 8RPM(the fastest), this one spins at 8RPM.

  • I wish this 1000 was wearing a white wedding gown. Now that would make it look nicer.

  • that's kind of creepy...

  • Sure is

  • The tone on the 1000 is very high, but I think is a beautiful tone. :)

  • i also hear a 100T :) LONG LIVE THE TBOLT

  • Love the cry of those thunderbolts!!!

  • you got that good

  • I think I saw this 1000 just last weekend. Is the building this 1000 is on top of along I-471?

  • I-471 andI-71 yes, thats it :)

Now you know what it sounds like :D

  • sounds like the siren from the silent hill series.

  • I Live In The Uk So We Dont Get Any Of This Tornado Or Thunderbolt Sirens. It Would Be Pretty Annoying To Have Them

Anyways What Does A Thunderbolt Siren Mean What Is It Warning You Of?

  • thunderbolt sirens are just one of many different models of sirens in the states. this particular recording is just of them testing the system which they test once a month. They are normally used to warm of tornadoes where i live. i fancy them, as odd as it seems. cheers!

  • Thanks =]

I Jus Wanted To Thats All.

Oh By The Way Great Vid.

    I Hate The Noise =]

  • It is the thunderbalt

  • How fast is it rotating?

  • its set on the highest setting, 8RPM.

  • I like how the blower stays on almost the whole time the chopper is winding down. Makes for a cooler sound!

  • lol, and i didn't think it was on long enough.

  • lol! I've tried to figure out how to get mine to stay on longer than it does, but I've had no luck yet. As of right now, it stays on appx. 3-4 seconds after the chopper starts to wind down. If I could get it to stay on that long, it'd be a lot cooler! lol

  • city looks abandoned

  • it really isn't. I was standing inside the park, where traffic off to the right wasn't visible. It was quite busy, as it was lunch time.

  • I live in Cincinnati as well. It's not an abandoned city.

  • Thunderbolt 1000 and 1000T.

  • Cool!

  • Pretty freaky

  • it took me a while to actully see the t-bolt until I saw it rotate it on the building to the right was rotating however I would say that it is not roatating that fast THAT fast But that is a rather high pitch I wouldn't want to be anybody who sleeps in the building next to the t-bolt The two tone one is quite good though wonder when the next video will be... You should take it from a diffrent angle to try and catch both sirens.

  • dont know when I'll be able to tape them again, I'm not off on Wednesdays anymore.

  • Crap when I was in Ohio as a kid, thunderbolts blasted out every other day in the spring. The town that had the siren was over 4 miles away and we could hear it fine.

    Creepy sound but good stuff!

  • i hate them they scare the shit out of me

  • me too...

  • it's so scary

  • I love the wind down!!!

  • We used to be "ruled" by T-Bolts (1000s/1000Ts) from the '50s until 2003. When they were replaced by ASC T-128's. Glad to see that Cincinnati still has them. This is the first time that I have seen a 'bolt on the 8RPM setting. I don' know why but that is creepy in itself.

  • I forgot to mention that it is Omaha, NE that I am talking about. Now we have T-128's. I miss our 'Bolts.

  • WOW, this siren sounds the best*not annoying* out of all the others :)

  • That T-1000 on the building sounds like it has 6 ports for some reason. Doesn't sound at all like a 5-port. Could it be a 1003 with a stuck solenoid?

BTW, The 1000T in the background is a 5/4 port version.

  • I don't think that there are any 1003s in Cincinnati.

  • no, Cincinnati has no 1003's.

Its just set at a higher chopper setting.

  • The only 1003 in Hamilton County is on the Mt. Healthy fire station.

  • I know where that one is. I live in Hamilton County right near there. I wonder if they needed the Hi-Lo back when they had a VFD until whenever.

  • That T-Bolt on the building is rotating very fast!

  • glad to see cincy is ruled by tbolts. columbus used to be in the 80's. but the old monsters are diminishing unfortunatly.

  • At first i thought the light at the right was the siren

  • This reminds me of when they test the nuclear plant sirens where I live. The Sirens are all so loud and close to each other it has a "ghost" effect as I call it, really creepy.

  • This sound reminds me of the movie "The Day After" ( the movie about a nuclear attack on the U.S.) CHILLING.

  • that gives me the chills lol.. very good video

  • why is there always at least one person that has to says "eerie?"

  • Weird, that is a really high thunderbolt! You can tell it is a tbolt from the variation in volume, watch the rotation on the building. The other one sounds more like a traditional sound from a tbolt...maybe someone just messed with the higher one to make it so high (and rotate like mad!)? Don't know much about the technical aspect but I do know that is a REALLY high tbolt!

  • The first siren , (not the T-bolt) defintley sounds like a Federal Signal 2001 SNRB. Both sirens sound awesome.

  • It's a T-Bolt, but it has a very high tone. One of the highest that I have heard.

  • man, that HI-LO thunderbolt sounds so freaky! I love it!

  • if we had this siren rather than our current one, i can see the town screaming "aunt em!" rather than "oh, let's go...*snores*"

  • Can't complain its a cool Siren.

  • that i have no clue. I wondered that myself when I was recording. you should have seen the confused look on my face when I was filming lol.

  • why does the 1000 do a cycle of attack before starting alert?

  • I think the single tone sounds like a Federal DC 2001. But yes, I like the dual tone myself. I would have taken video of it if you could see it from the street.

  • The other Thunderbolt in the back ground sounds better but both sound great.

  • eerie
