the styles of playing are completely different. slash if flashy and a crowd pleaser whereas herman is the nerd of guitar players. slash has more style but is kinda overrated but hes probably getting laid right now. but herman is extremely impressive but lacks style and half of what he does are really just sound tricks.

Slash. He makes everything sound perfect, and incorperates his solo in with the certain feel of the song, Whilest ALL of the DragonForce solo's dont sound right with the rest of the song. Herman and the other dude (Don't know his name) make up a solo, and think "I dont care, i've already wrote it, I'm not making up another solo for this song". Which is why Slash is an amazing guitarist, and does everything brilliantly.

how can you compare them? slash is one of the greatest melodic lead guitarists ever, but herman is the king of technique. maybe if they tried playing each other's stuff, but you can't compare shred to singing leads. also, while herman is ridiculous, and can play anything slash wrote, and slash, though a good guitarist, probably cant play herman's solos, theres a difference between being able to play something and being able to write something that good, and shred doesnt require genious to write.

I'm conflicted, I love herman Li's talent, awesome to watch, but I don't really see myself having a few beers listening to him or dragon force, I mean nothing wrong by it, I often show friends dragonforce videos so they can see the talent but speed+talent don't always equal = listenability (lol, not a word, i know) they've been around since 1999 and I gotta tell ya, a band with a good melody comes out, I might listen to them when im in listening mode, i really don't care how fast you can play.
