The Hobbit was the first real book I ever read, then i read the lord of the rings in the next one and a half months, spending all my spare time reading. This was in fourth grade. I am now in eighth and have read the series twice since. These are truly the greatest books ever written. Rest In Peace J.R.R Tolkien
@craziestmofo There are more books about the events in middle earth. But J.R.R Tolkien's son holds the copyright and does not want more movies to be made, for reasons I do not know. His son is nearly 90 years old and doesn't have many years left so when he passes his grandson may choose for more movies to be made :)
It saddens me that this trilogy was made a decade ago. Time sure flies. I still remember all the times I spent hyped up and waiting for them to come out. Nothing will ever be so magical as the first time I saw these films, forever changing my perspective on movies and literature. Hell, I'm gonna go dig up those DVDs and watch this epic again.
Its crazy to think this was released way back in 2001. I think of films from ten years ago, and reflect that they are beginning to show their age.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy doesn't have that effect.

@guitarreilly I'm afraid I really don't understand how it can be voted to be that. First of all, the CONCEPT of Lord of the Rings is just stunning, it's perfect. So much detail, so much fact behind everything Tolkien created. Just think of it, he, a single person and his mind, spent years to study different languages (both dead and new ones) to create his own. Not only one though, but many, for each race in his story. It's a world. Unbelievable. It's actually hard realizing it's not even real.

To understand the work and effort, the talent and creativity of ONE man's mind, to create such a beautiful and detailed world as Middle Earth. I never despised Frodo...Or Sam.. or any of the Fellowship.. The ring drove him mad.. therefore if you think about it... Borimor died long before he was shot by Lurtz (y)

I'm a boy of 13 years old. This film has inspired me for loads of things, I get goosbumps every time I hear this , a lot of 13 year olds like me prefer rapping/pop, but this music is amazing. it's movies like this that made me want to become a actor. I just got my first gig in a student film for their Senoir Film Thesis at their Film school. im 14 years old and ive seen the trilogy uncountless times and when frodo sails away on the ship with gandalf and the king of elron and shmeigle i cry every time when i watch these movies i feel emotion that is rare and i never really feel in my everyday life, we all wish we could just escape and be a hobbit or a elf and live a beautilful and peaceful life and just enjoy from the epic battle for mount tirith to the introduction and every other little bit this movie was worth ever award it got.

@guitarreilly I dont know who said that, but those people truly have no idea what they're talking about. Now this it's not only just a matter of personal opinion, but understanding. To understand the work and effort, the talent and creativity of ONE man's mind, to create such a beautiful and detailed world as Middle Earth. Sure, toy story is pretty cool, it's fun to watch and keeps you entertained for the moment. LotR makes you dream, cry, hope and live. Lord of the Rings stays with you forever.

@timewasteland So does Toy Story. If it didn't make you feel that way, doesn't mean the trilogy is inferior to LoTR. What I call bullshit is you thinking that just because LoTR is incredibly made the way it is, it MUST BE superior to Toy Story. Bullshit. A movie doesn't need to be 100% creative to be good, and bring all types of emotion. Toy Story does that beautifully, TS3 the most. Just because you don't understand it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

I'm a boy of 13 years old. This film has inspired me for loads of things, I get goosbumps every time I hear this , a lot of 13 year olds like me prefer rapping/pop, but this music is amazing. I cried at the end of Lord of the Rings, a brilliant set of films, forever in my heart, lord of the rings...

I grew up with Lord of the Rings and Star Wars and I love music and beautiful nature scenery because of this. I love the Elder Scrolls because it's like LOTR and it is amazing, it makes me love art.

I watched the entire series for the 2nd time in my life (after seeing it as a 9 or 10 year old 5 years ago as a rented film) nonstop 2 days ago. Stayed up until 1 or 2 AM... I'm amazed. It's just wonderful and spell-binding...

im 14 years old and ive seen the trilogy uncountless times and when frodo sails away on the ship with gandalf and the king of elron and shmeigle i cry every time when i watch these movies i feel emotion that is rare and i never really feel in my everyday life, we all wish we could just escape and be a hobbit or a elf and live a beautilful and peaceful life and just enjoy from the epic battle for mount tirith to the introduction and every other little bit this movie was worth ever award it got.
