  • @rodnasty4ya I would do anything to be 30 again. Youth is wasted by the young.

  • my favorite part in the whole movie. Luv her!!

  • The 80's!! best time for rap, funk and hip hop!!

Sheila E. was Prince's best (and hottest) alumnee.

  • Trivia:

There are subliminal images in this clip

A picture of Prince circa the "1999" era is hanging on Sheila's wall on the right and a picture of The Revolution on the left.

Both pictures are partially obscured by plants purposely.

This subliminally fortifies the musical link between Sheila, Prince, and his influence when watching this clip.

Sheila is talented on her own, though.

  • wow, i would have never caught that.

  • i saw that 2

  • yeah i noticed that too. lol im thinking i want a poster of the revolution in my room too. and some new adidas...haha

  • ooh it sho is

  • Sheila Escovedo, Joseph Simmons, Darryl McDaniels, Benny Rietveld, and Karen Moss are awesome in this clip.

Sheila and Benny are actually playing the melody of "Sister Fate". "Holly Rock" and "Sister Fate" are related -- musically speaking. Sheila is the best.

Joseph Simmons actually created his rap, in this clip, on the spot. He is a genius.

  • Yeah I learned to play Sister Fate by watching this video. though in the recording of Holly Rock they don't really play the same chords

  • Right. They do have their differences. But both are in the key of D with D to Am or C chords.

  • Good gawd!!! Although panned in its day, I'm glad Sheila was part of a flick that will go down in hip-hop history.
