You see, I used to worry that I was wrong. I saw the proactive gays on TV and thought "am I the only one who wants a regular relationship?"
I used to think that I was the only one. But then I met some very fine upstanding GLBT people and realized that, like every group, there is good and bad.
That still didn't do it for me. I was still worried sick sometimes that I was disobeying God.
Well, in October 2009, God spoke to me. MAJORLY.
I was to attend the GLBT Equality March in Washington DC. The night before, however, I was worried sick. So what did I do? I prayed. I asked God for help, unsure I was doing the right thing......
The next day I woke up. Nothing out of the ordinary. I was hoping God would at least send me sign before, in case I end up in Washington and doing something dreadful.
We took our cars, and then the subway...and BOOM. Washington DC. Many GLBT people, and many Allies. Some churches too!
There were protesters...but surly they weren't signs from God. They always show up.
Anyhow...we get set up to march...and still not one sign. I was hoping deep down in my heart that SOMETHING would happen...
...and all of the sudden...right before the march began...in the beautiful blue sky amongst white clouds...appeared a rainbow.
I am not lying. I have pictures. It was BEAUTIFUL. And right after it appeared, the march began. I knew right away that God was listening. God wanted to tell us that it was okay. It was one of the most beautiful things that happened to me.
Since then, I am confident about 2 things:
God is very real.
God loves me, and made me special, just like all of his creatures.
I feel strongly about this, and when I am told that I can't be close to God because I believe it is okay to be in love with a person of the same sex, it gets me quite upset. I am sorry if I ever came off as mean.
I am also sorry for rambling, but I definitely wanted to explain to you why I believe what I believe. It may seem silly to you, but people's beliefs can often seem silly.
