  • nice car, i'm after one myself. Also I loved reading the description.

  • @focijohn Check out BCA auctions ex police. I got myself a 59 reg s60 for £4,100 and it had only done 98,000 miles !

  • @JimLem Me mates got tha same car as tha on a 54 plate an that's 300 bhp e got dyno,d

  • @thesaint1908 xpolice Volvo t5 r gd cars bin looked after an it's moterway miles with 300 bhp cheap cars with fsh

  • @TheFoster10 Yep, they are absolute bargains for what they are. Only the facelifted models are 300bhp though, the older ones - like this one - were 250bhp. Either way, both models go like bats out of hell on the open road. A LOT of fun! :)

  • @JimLem Well said

  • Thats cool man.

  • @JimLem i agree, they are very well looked after, serviced regularly, cleaned every day, ideal

  • @JimLem not i luleå swedN xD

they cant even chase down my volvo 240 T6 ;)

  • @leerrooyyjenkins Haha, i've seen videos of T6-powered "old skool" Volvo's. They are impressive. I had a 740 with a modified turbo and ECU a few years back, and the wheels would spin in 3rd gear. It's amazing what you can do with these old tanks.

  • who'd want to buy an ex police car considering its been driven at high speeds in the past probably in 1st gear, talk about strain on the engine, id stay away from them!!!! the engines would be knackered.

  • @thesaint1908 and the engine hae more than 300000km

  • Looks Genuine to me i get stopped enough times by them lol

  • @House3424

    Yes it is.

  • @JimLem He's an idiot, some people from my country (America) don't seem to understand that other countries exist. And to House3424, not all American Volunteer Firefighters have blue lights. And Blue lights are usually used on most police vehicles in the United States.

  • @House3424 Try that this was a British cop car and over here we use blue lights on the front of our police cars aswell as on the ambulances and paramedic cars, and even on our fire engines aswell

  • @House3424 This isn't America...

  • @House3424 maby in america there all blue in the uk

  • @House3424 - what country do you live in?? Check your facts mate...

  • @emadex America of course. I am not a clown from the UK that says "mate".

  • @House3424 - why "of course"? And I'm not from the UK.

  • yup fake. those bs lights in the grille are type r strobes

  • @LoudAssGeo

Wrong again. They are LED Endurance light heads from Onus Technologies. The stickers are still on them. Type R strobes are not used by the police since the light output is crap.

  • You are very correct I bought a 1992 Ex-Notts Sierra 2.9 4x4 when it was only 12 months old, they sold all 4 cars they had to bring in the Cosworth Escorts When I bought it from the Government sales in Newcastle the Fog lights where still blue but disconnected as were the Flashing Headlights, However I found that it was still wired up and only the relay had been removed, a quick search and I found they were still in the fuse panel behind the glove box when i pushed them in all the lights worked

  • to annoying people, they do look pretty genuine installed lights (not some shodd job by some impersonator) I do believe this is a police vehicle. I want one :D

  • did you know you can disable comments if your that annoyed with moody ones?

  • very nice could you make a vid of the inside of the car thanks

  • Your video description had me in histerics!

  • this is pretty cool

  • Hey there, great vid! I'm sure I knew which vehicle this is when it was in service, what are the very first two letters of the reg?

  • @bosco1013 You would have to be superhuman to know EXACTLY which vehicle this is. The number plate was covered to protect the identity of the car on the public highway. This is still my daily drive, so I needed to take measures to maintain my privacy. If it's any use to you though, the registration has only one letter at the start, since it was registered "pre-51". Thanks for your comments. Happy New Year to you.

  • @JimLem Superhuman, well I am pretty awesome....jokes :p

No worries mate, I know what you mean about wanting your privacy, seeing as it's pre-51 it's not the one I was thinking of. Thanks for the reply.

  • Jimlem, its a real shame that you have to explain yourself to certian "people" quite simply this is a 10 sec video of the front of a car with blue flashing lights!!!! but instead of just appreciating the video (which was proberly not directed to general viewers anyway) we have 6 or more fucking pages of people arguing wheter or not the lights are real, should he have brought the car, if they flash properly (i laughed at this one) etc etc. Just enjoy the video if not move on to the next! sad acts

  • @wetwipey Quite right. This video was not intended for everyones enjoyment. It is the result of a request by just one person, who wanted to see the car with the lights connected. Your comments are appreciated. Merry Xmas.

  • @JimLem and a merry christmas to you too mate :)

  • Comment removed

  • maybe theres a siren in there too :P

  • @ZackDonovan Unfortunately not. Although the siren speaker has left it's mark in the form of 4 additional bolt-holes on the nearside chassis rail, behind the bumper.

  • @JimLem thats too bad

  • also im sure that by law the police have to remove all lights and sirens out of cars before they sell the....think about it...what if you was a rapist or murder,er , u could just pull anybody up with them lights..im pretty sure the police would not be that stupid to let a member of the public drive around in a car with police lights..

  • Sorry but have to agree with most of the comments here looks fake....

  • @BangerEye Shut the fuck up you pathetic waste of space.

  • watch?v=sPeu5IRj5nc < that's a London unmarked Volvo. The grille lights are exactly like they are on this one.

  • @ bangereye. typical american grammar lets you down my friend i.e (mom) you might have wanted to vent your spleen but dude, are you jealous your' MOM' hasnt fitted this shit to her car? or are you more jealous that your only 12 and cant drive yet and let the blue lights flikker on and off!? now go and jump off a SKYSCRAPER!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @badboykane Different forces use different setups...

  • @badboykane Read updated description.

  • You can get the indicator ones in Halfords for £20! The ones in the front are fake, done via animation. The grille is always cut to allow the light to stick through. You have animated a blue light over the front of the grille, we can all see that when pause is pressed. When you start the cycle again it shows. So very very fake, but a good effort. Equipment is NEVER left in place as it is reused before sale - so don't lie, I hate people that lie even after being caught out !!!!

    RATED ZERO

  • "The grille is always cut to allow the light to stick through." No. My local police service almost always fits the LEDs behind the grille, and there are no holes, they just shine through the gaps.

  • @urbex2007 Obviously another butt-scratching nose-picker with nothing better to do than speculate. I bought the car DIRECT from the police. If you owned a Volvo you would know that the grilles do not come out easily. For this reason, equipment is sometimes left fitted due to decommissioning time/cost reasons, although they will always be totally disconnected prior to sale. BTW, no lighting equipment is "reused". Show me a serving vehicle with ANY second-hand equipment fitted.

  • ello ello ello i can smell bullshit lol

  • @makeminealarge1 You probably can. Especially if it is spilling out of the hole beneath your nose.

  • Leave them on a separate switch.

  • ale super

  • it looks pretty cool man

  • sorry.......... fake those lights have been put in afterwards

  • @BigWolfie1 No they haven't.

  • @BigWolfie1 No they haven't.

  • has anyone else noticed that the main beam light arn't flashing?

I like the lights though, leave them in there, and scare the crap outta people you know. come stomping up behind them and BLAM

    hahahaha

  • @masterblaster20006 Yeah, was a shame about the main beams. I couldn't locate a flasher anywhere so it must have been removed. Cheers for the comment.

  • what sort of moron buys an ex police car? it will have spent its entire life being ragged around on the red line, driven up kerbs and over potholes at speed. it will be fucked! why do you think the police are so keen to get rid of them once they reach 100k miles? because it will fall apart soon after that

  • @ponyplayallday Some are sold at over 200k miles. Depends on how much the car is used, what capacity it is used in, and how much has been spent on it. This one came with full workshop paperwork which shows exactly what damage has been caused, and what components have been replaced. They are very well maintained and serviced every 5000 miles. The engine still runs sweet, still outperforms the local boy racers off the lights, and has not let me down. The best car I have ever owned.

  • Comment removed

  • @JimLem probbably because its a volvo, thay are very reliable.

  • @JasperPotoms They are very reliable indeed, although the 4WD version would be much better in the snow! Merry Xmas.

  • Police BY LAW have to not just disconnect but also REMOVE any left over items/components so as far as I'm concerned this video's bollocks

  • @TWBR88 You said it yourself: As far as YOU are concerned. Another classic case of opinion, not fact.

  • keep them in but dont put them on during a drive. it looks cool

  • It's animated, not real. Look closely how the light is infront of the car!

  • @urbex2007 Yeah, amazing how the camera makes it appear that way. It goes some way to demonstrating just how bright the lights are.

  • I don't believe they r police fitted lights. The indicator mounted lights I have never seen used on the front of a car with covert grill lights. Most White cars are marked so why would they use convert grill lights? The blinker lights look like halfords/ eBay specials sold as pace car lights. The car and story behind the lights stinks of bull poo!

  • Indicator-mounted blues are still in use on traffic cars of some forces for fend-off purposes. More lights = higher visibility. They are a lot brighter from the side than from the front. It is also common for the grille lights to be mounted behind the grille because it avoids the need to cut holes out. The cables and lenses on these lights still have the Onus Tecnologies stickers on them. This was a marked car. I certainly would not waste time fitting this stuff myself when it's illegal to use.

  • lol brill one... bot you would get done rotton... especially of Traffic Caught you... Easily Impersonation...

  • I didnt know UK police used blue lights in the blinkers. :P

  • Haha! Nice one!

  • have you got a web site mate, i got one for Ex-Police Car but that is West Yorkshire,

what did you pay for it

  • and where did you buy it????

  • It's a T5. Some police forces have been using D5's for some time, and my local force are using V50 D5's as their lower powered area cars, and the new V70 T6's for traffic and armed response.

I bought the car from the Ex-Police Car Centre at Brierley Hill in the West Midlands.

  • i want them lights on mine but i think i will end up getting locked up...........

  • if that was a D5 i would love to have it, and yes i would have the blue lights working, coz our police force is shit, and i would pulled over anyone, in sed they go to the local asad ot tescos shoping, did the police ever have D5's

  • u do know that is illigal

  • Oh, REALLY?!!! Thank you so, so much for that. You have saved me from losing my driving licence(!)

Where do these people get their brains?!

  • Lovely to still see them working! Your question, should you keep them wired up to a seperate switch? The answer would be no. Whilst it is not an offence to have the lights on your car, if you wire them up then you may be required to explain to a court the reason for this. Remember, a court could decide you inteded on using them for criminal purposes and that means the possiblity of a prison sentence.

Connect them for fun on your own property but keep them disconeccted on the road.

  • I hadn't actually considered the potential outcome through court if it came to it, so thanks for that. As it happens, they have been disconnected for some time now. Whole lengths of wiring were removed in the process, so a fairly big job to set them up again if I wanted. Lights themselves are still present though. Cheers for your comment.

  • Good to hear it. It's always better to be safe than sorry. People will asume it's a police car without the lights in any case. Quite annoying when you want to get somewhere quicky as the car in front always slows down when a T5 approaches, i know, i have the same problem :)

  • I have noticed that. Even though the T5's in my local area are in the process of being replaced with the new T6's and BMW 530d's. Good to know there are other T5 drivers out there. Don't seem to be too many about these days.

  • Yep, these cars are massively understated especially with a custom re-map. Mine produces over 280bhp since mapping and nearly 100nm extra of torque. It totally transforms the cars performance. If you're interested in moddification then let me know and i'll give you the low down :)

  • Definitely interested. I've only gone as far as a full stainless steel exhaust and induction kit at present. I haven't had much time to look into further mods as yet.

  • My mate has a D5 estate, ex police, and people think he's plod all the time. He does put a yellow jacket in the boot though to reinforce that impression!! Bit sad that....

  • Whatever floats his boat I guess :) He could go the whole hog and stick a pile of platic cell phone arials on the roof, that would seriously go with the unmarked Plod look :)

  • They look pretty damn cool - though I'm shocked they sold you a car and only disconnected the lights rather than removing them all!

keep then connected on a separate switch - spose you're aware that you're allowed to have them on if you're on private land (obviously with owner's permission) - that could be a pretty cool thing to impress people with lol

  • It's surprisingly common to buy ex-police vehicles with blue lights/headlamp flashers/additional equipment still fitted but disconnected. I'm led to believe that a single workshop can decommission up to 4 vehicles a day. The grilles on these Volvos are tedious to remove unless you have the correct tools, so the quickest way is to disconnect the lights. As for the headlamp strobes, that requires removal of the headlamp. And the front bumper. Another time-consuming task.

  • Haha thats awesome mate! Im hoping to get a ex-police v70 when i've got 2 years on my licence (been drooling over them at a garage near me everytime i drive past lol), whts the car like overall mate?

  • Hehe! You're insurance will be sky high, but well worth it. I tried replying to your comment but it hasn't been posted for some reason. If you want some details on this car, mail me at: j(dot)lemmon781(at)btinternet(dot)com

  • Haha it is at the moment, my first car and its £2400 lol, only a 1.7 corsa too xD, you'll have to get some more vid's up mate. Will mail email you now =).

  • Ooops ment will email you, not "mail email" lol!!!

  • :O REALLY?! are you a millionaire's son, or have you had an accident already? COuld have sworn this isnothing like the cost of insurance for a young driver... :-.

  • haha no im in uni mate...nearly 20 too =/.

Nope, no accidents and clean license, but i think its the area i live in...loads of idiots where i live and its in the sk16 postscode...so its pretty bad lol.

  • yeah, thats probably it..

I used to live in cheshire - lot of crime.

  • Put it this way I wouldnt ever turn them on in a public place :P

  • Lol. I don't think i'd have my licence much longer if I did! :)
