  • great drums!!

  • Damn that was awesome. Sounded like a war was going down in the jungle

  • Sound like my Sonor Bubinga Signature drum kit...like a tymphani.

  • The bubinga toms sound like gods own choir. There are in my mind at least, no better sounding drums on Earth. You want the best drums money can buy, then get Tama bubinga

  • I want one

  • i hate when people tune there toms high pitched

  • I did a drum clinic a few years ago, and after it a friend of mine came up and asked if he could tap my toms. He could'nt figure how I got a deep full sound that still cut through. He tapped them. He said that they were much higher than they sounded from the back. That's part of the doppler affect. What we hear from the kit is ALWAYS going to sound lower out in front of the kit. Just try it. Unless you're on the road, or playing clubs 24/7, you won't hurt anything & you'll learn. Takes time.

  • very dry, but deep

  • wow no mic and they sound like that

    thats crazy

  • They are not close-miked, but still miked from the overhead mic. BD is close-miked for sure :)

  • which is the color of the drum set of simon phillips? i searched it on your website but i can find it

  • It was called "Metalic black" or something like that, but it is discontinued.

  • hey thanks for the help but i entered tama drum website and the still selling it on the starclassic bubinga elite

  • Yep, Black Metallic is a VERY nice color in my opinion.

  • its called natural bubinga, it may be custom made for him.

  • is not made for him is a bubinga series color

  • Of course he's showcasing the Bubinga lines of Drum that's why there's little cymbals going.

  • hes is one of the better soloist, that know how to get out of the way and let amazing drums speak for themselves

  • This solo draws it's inspiration from

Ginger Baker, the godfather of tom solos. It certainly compliments the bubinga sonic capacity.

Also, nice 3 over 2 patterns in the middle there with the bass drum ostinato.

  • Great drums.. Full of ressonance. I also enjoy pearl reference, dw and sonor... yamaha recording is also amazing.

  • Ever heard of Ludwig Drums? All the other just don't compare!! I've played on all of them but the Ludwig drums are like a Ferrari!!!!! Simply the BEST SOUNDING DRUMS EVER!!!!!

  • I have a set of Tama Starclassic Bubingas in Cordia and they are amazing great visually and sonically, they are the drums Ive always been looking for

  • Oh I'd love a set of Bubinga Cordia's. Those are the best looking drums I've seen in ages! But with my set- up that'd break my balls. I need to get an endorsement deal. NOW! LOL.

  • i never get tired of this clip. Simon is great drummer indded.

  • me neither...not just because of the great drumming but cuz I canceled my second order aswell :P and ordered omni-tune toms in piano black, floor toms in this finish he uses and a kick in dark stardust fade which together looks absoletly stunning!...I hope :-P

  • Simon is the best drummer in the world, i have seen he in a clinic, he is very very amazing and funny, I have learned much from he... excellent dynamics coordination and sense of music, he is a step ahead to all

  • i think simon is not the best drummer in the world. he doesn't have any grooves. he's very technical. that's all

  • Oh, I see.

So YOU think Jeff Porcaro's successor in Toto "doesn't have any grooves".

    Hmmm...

  • yup thats right. he's not groovey. he may dazzle you with his speed and technical abilities but he bores me. don't get me wrong but he's a good drummer but simply not the best.

  • He learn me the true sound, the toms, the floor toms and bass drum, i'ts perfect for a test... he play better

  • I've been following Simon since 1979, and to say he has no grooves in the huge body of work he's done is utter rubbish. He has long been a favourite of other musicians for that very reason - the feel and groove he brings with him. By his own admission he is not that technical a drummer. But all this talk of who's best if frankly inane and not the sort of conversation real musicians indulge in.

  • maybe back then he was groovey. but in a drum clinic he held back a few years ago, i didn't see much grooves. so is this video.

  • haha "not the best"?...what are you? 12?!

THERE ARE NO BEST DRUMMER IN THE WORLD you pathetic little teenager!

  • you might wanna direct that to ScAtMaN888

  • thought I made that clear...

  • dude either ure dumb or smthg..check his videos Okay?

    no grooves?

    woah...

ure out of ure mind ~

    think b4 u write ~!

  • get this straight

    i'm not dumb

    and

    i think before i write.

yeah, i've checked his videos, seen him live, and he doesn't have the grooves that makes it 'flavourful'.

  • the purpose of this show was to showcase the new drum line, not for the drummers to show of their skills! he did a great job with focus on the drums!

  • agreed with the purpose of this show. thats a valid point. well, i thought he could make it a little more interesting on the kit.

  • nice first comment! GOD this is the absolute best video on youtube, hands down! I would give everything to be at that show!
