@archu00007 harinie jeevithas dancing is more graceful and flexible but medha cant win from harinie's movement cause harinie dance's gracefully and excelently beautiful.
i luv the dance and costume, but i am curious; is it part of the dance to smile so hard? and is it traditional to point the foot the way she does or pretend she's drinking something?
@toBe8ere A big part of the dance is the expression; it's like trying to portray a story. That's why there's over-the-top smiles and dramatic kohl on the eyes of most of these dancers.
@BoxEffect it's not as if, it telling a story, it is.This dance tells the story of Hindu deities. This dance is divided into seven phases. The opening is dedicated to Ganesha. There are other tribute later to other deities and the "narrative" of love stories vécues by the deities. It's always tell something. Kohl is a make up,and not just specific to dancers.
@BoxEffect ,but it's traditional in India, because we find it beautiful. but it is true that it serves to emphasize the look and it helps to see the expression of eyes
i adore indian dancing, its the most beautiful thing in the entire world. and the music and clothes are so, so so stunning i love it india is an amazing culture i love it
This art form requires incredible concentration, practice and coordination. Notice the free independence of movement and the strict adherence to the ever-changing musical rhythm.
My best friend in high school was Indian & she took dance lessons and also had her arangetram...beautiful costumes, beautiful dances! This girl is so young!
Very beautiful...also I think the Indian dances influenced some Javanese royal court dances as well, as their main religion at the time was Hindu & Buddhism and they use Hindu texts in court.
harinee is 15 now.... i saw her dance at bramha gana sabha in chennai in Jan, and it was OFF THE chains INCREDIBLE!! This girl is amazing... and a thousand times better in person. I was blown away..... and i've watched hundreds of BN performances
Every frame can be paused and she's in absolute perfect form. EVERY SINGLE FRAME can be stopped and she looks like a statue that has been carved out of stone - a moment of perfection frozen in time and space. That is just beyond belief. Her execution of every movement and expression is astounding. Each and every movement is fully formed to exact completion with enthralling result. It's amazing magnificence. This is a monumental performance. World Heritage Treasure event captured on film.
WOW...i do not speek the language and it was almost if I understood it through her expressions and emotions of the dance. Very good performance!! I commend her for her dedication to the work and the love for the dance she put into it!!
@itachizlastresort The art form 'Bharata-natyam' has its origin in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. However it is now a very common dance form in India, especially in the Southern States like Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Children normally start their training at the age of three, though there are latecomers too! The earlier they start, the better dancers they become!
Beautiful, entrancing. The thing I love about Indian, and south asian dance in general, is how the face and especially the eyes play such an important part in the dance. Love it.
@cosmothechihuahuadog It;'s possible, Bharatanatyam can involve all types of yoga including meditation. Sufi dancing is more of a transcendental ecstasy dance though.
@cosmothechihuahuadog No, that is not true! These are trained Bharata Natyam dancers. They perform according to the pre-fixed dance-steps and hand-gestures (mudras) and face expressions (bhavam). While 'bhavam' requires the performer to 'act', they do not do it in ecstasy. Infact, they need to concentrate and focus their mind and body to the lyrics and the rhythm (thaalam) to reflect the story they are portraying through the dance. Each of these dances will be based on some ancient story.
@kakukkari Exactly! When my friend had her arangetram I was absolutely amazed at the physical stamina and focus it took. It's different from other dance in that bhavam is an integral part; in other forms of dance you can get away with breathing through the mouth or heavily through the nose, not here!
This girl is a true talent. She is completely transformed by the dance. You look at her and you don't see a girl, you see a mythical sprit. Simply amazing!
Is this girl really only 11 years old? How can someone so young be able to express all of those emotions so well? This was a beautiful and amazing performance.
This dance along with other dances like Egyptian, Indonesian and other countries is amazing.More artistic than the modern dance we have today like we see on western
