I just bided and won a used 3 mth old mx15 it's got blue ray player, i7,8gb,ati 5850 ddr5 still got box,hat, ect and receiving it in 2 days.I canceled my order of a mx15 from dell because the laptop was going to take up to a month to arrive.16th July.a sales guy phoned me up from dell to temp me into not cancelling so he offers me a mx14 with a few free upgrades which would of saved me £180. I was tempted but I still wouldn't get it until the 12 July so I just got a refund and still saved over

Iordered mine yesterday, I absolutely can't wait! I only went for the i5 processor because I was on a budget, but that should be enough the only games I play are things like Gmod and stu, I really can't wait, my first alienware ever :D but I was shocked when I saw the delivery estimate, the 11th July! I ordered on 18th June, I hope it comes before then, preferebly THIS month. Anyone have any ideas on whether it is likely to come sooner? I live in the UK and only customised two options HDD + i5

@livehigh80 I only specced it with 4 gb because ram is cheaper and easier to upgrade later on when I need more. currently I still haven't seen a need for more than 4 gb as most games are still 32bit and cant address more than that at one time.

@TheGamerGirl07 Thanks for posted that. I watched it very good review. Now they are shipping them with the DP to HDMI adapter that I had to buy separably that is good. I have kept the black cloth cover it shipped with to keep dust and scratches off and it has worked well.

@livehigh80 If you are using a 32 bit operating system, 4gb is far enough(the operating system can't handle more than 4gb)...

btw the vga is pretty weak in this machine.

To all of you asking about it's ports and if you can plug it into your HDMI TV, the answer is yes. The M15x's now have a port that isn't exactly HDMI but in the accessories box, they give you a HDMI adapter cord to plug into the laptop and connect it to a HDMI TV. Also on the laptop, you have a VGA port which you can plug a Monitor into. They don't give you a cord for that because your monitor should have come with one. It also has an E-SATA port which can be used to plug in an internal HDD.

All of them I'm willing to pay for just as much. They all game just as good. I'm just sketchy about the battery in the M15x and the screen on the M11x. I also have always wanted to have a Mac. Maybe I could just get a Mac desktop for college and get an Alienware laptop now?

One more thing, does Alienware have "desktop mode" like Macs?

@YouHaveMetYourMaker alienware does have desktop mode. alienwares are heavy so your mac would be good for college but you have to think about what they were made for. alienware = gaming macs = gereral use. you would never get as good as a mac as alienware. only problem is is the size and weight. the m11x will not game as good as the big alienwares but as for college i would go with the m11x and a mouse as it has really good gaming and protability. you just need to get over an 11 inch screen :P

@speedyduck38 M15x is off the list. I'm impatient so I will probably end up getting the M11x soon and getting a display, keyboard, and Mac Mini later on that I could also use with my M11x. I'm so glad that my favorite game is Counter Strike: Source. It makes things less complicated, but I still love Left 4 Dead and CoD so I'd need a gaming laptop. I've been able to handle 13.3 inch laptops, is 11.6 that much worse?

And yes the alienware does have "desktop mode". What you do is your choice.

no there are 2 modes it can run in stealth mode on or off when its on it will run at 1.73ghz(ie. when your not pluged in)and when its off it will run at 3.06ghz per core this mode keeps it for over heating like older alienware models

I am planning to buy alienware m15x.

1gb Geforce GTX 260M fixed in both choices for below.

1)i7-720qm;256gb ssd;4 GB-1333 Mhz Ram

2)i7-820qm;128gb ssd;4 GB-1333 Mhz Ram

I thought ssd is better than hdd because of loading time and better gaming performance. 128 gb seems very little however I`m not sure 1st choice would be better because of downgrading the processor from i7-820 to i7-720.Another issue is hdd or sdd. What u think about it? Waiting for your answers. Thanks.

@emreoguzman ssd is definitely better performance, yes your load times will be better, but for better performance durning games it will just increase the speed of load screens, no fps boost. Here is an article comparing various ssds with regular hdds but keep in mind these tests are done on a macbook pro.

Just fine you will want look into the processor affinity setting as that improved my fps by about 20. In Undercity I get 130+ fps and in BC its about 60ish totally playable

@aapinator Very true you eyes see at 30 fps but you can perceive 60 fps. but the whole point of having frames higher than 60 fps is that when you come to a more intensive part of the game your computer wont slow down below 60 fps and your game wont run sluggishly.
