@mrlifesensi1 No. This was during Winterlude, on a Saturday, with perfect weather (just below freezing and no wind). Normally there are fewer people.

If you are coming this year, you might be disappointed. It is the warmest winter on record and the canal has been closed often. Right now the canal is closed because it is above freezing. It may reopen, but the forecast doesn't look good. In my 30 years in Ottawa, I have never seen the canal melt in February like this.

@mrlifesensi1 I have put a link to the official Rideau Canal website in the description. From there, there is a menu on the left where you can see ice conditions, and there is a live webcam where you can watch the skaters. Right now all you will see is puddles.
