No, Dr. Crab didn't become her danna. A mizuage in the movie means they'd sell her virginity which is very valued. In real life, a mizuage is a ceremony to signify a maiko's coming of age. Somewhat like a sweet sixteen or quincenera in the geisha world.

in the book they began by calling her her real name but then chiyo gave her the nickname of pumpkin because her tongue used to stick out of her mouth whislt working like a pumpkins top. Even after turning her collar people continued to call her pumpkin unlike sayuri.

Were not proud of wars, most of us don't even like the war were in, we aren't crazed beasts who go about destroying 'races', yes it's unfortunate that the Geisha world was reduced from it's original glory, but we went into WW2 because of a little incident called Pearl Harbor.

No, Dr. Crab didn't become her danna. A mizuage in the movie means they'd sell her virginity which is very valued. In real life, a mizuage is a ceremony to signify a maiko's coming of age. Somewhat like a sweet sixteen or quincenera in the geisha world.

A danna is their "patron" pretty much like a husband of nightfall, the wife that they choose since many marriges are arranged and they pay for many life expenses that coincide with being a geisha.
